  1. Valerenga / Busan IPark / Nigerian National Team - 2022/23 Report Hello, it's been a little while since I last posted about this save. I took an extended break from FM and video games in general, so this update post comes with a bit of haziness in my mind. The last time we spoke I was the newly minted manager of Valerenga in Norway's Eliteserien division. I am happy to report that I managed to win the league, but unfortunately crashed out of the League Cup early in the fourth round. Winning the 19th most reputable league in Europe managed to propel my reputation into the 2.5 star range, and I was exploring options in some of Europe's top leagues prior to my departure from the club. Ultimately I resigned from my position as manager because Norway seemed like a dead end, and I needed to make a move to another continent sooner rather than later. For many months I searched for a job: adding leagues left and right, and stooping to some of the lowest clubs in worse off divisions. Thankfully, after months of searching I managed to land a job at Busan IPark in the top division of South Korea. I was really pleased with this position because the club was both rich and poised to succeed in the league. In my first season with Busan, I brought the team up from a rock bottom 12th place to a very safe 7th place. I'm sort've hesitant on sticking with Busan because of an inability to attract good players, but I think i'll stick around for now because the club is loaded. 2. HIFK Fotboll - 2021 Report We've done it! We've won the league! After three long years in the frigid Finnish wilderness, I have returned victorious with a title in hand. I managed to garner a convincing lead over the likes of HJK and KuPS which were constantly breathing down my neck. I couldn't do it alone, however. Players like Sebastian Dahlstrom and Roland Nzculy helped carry the team to glory. I didn't have much interest remaining in Finland after winning the league, so I packed my bags and prepared my Continental B licence for a not so long long journey to... Norway! I've taken my new job with the Eliteserium side Valerenga. Valerenga sacked their manager for finishing outside the top four and expect me rectify that by the end of the season. I don't expect it to be easy though. The Norwegian league can be quite competitive, and at the same time Valerenga is competing the Euro II Cup where the board expect me to at least qualify for the groupstage. We'll just have to see how it all pans out on the newest season of Damir's Adventure! also I couldn't help myself and brought Dahlstrom with me to Norway. The guy is filthy, seriously. If you are ever in need of a good playmaker, look him up. 3. HIFK Fotboll - 2020 Report I am, surprisingly, really enjoying my time here at HIFK Fotboll. If I didn't know any better, I would say this is the start to the building of a nation challenge haha. As expected, finances plummeted, but unlike my finances, my performance the league skyrocketed. There were numerous times throughout the season where my team flirted with the idea of European football, but that idea was thoroughly squashed by the end of the year when fifteen point gap opened up between us and HJK at the top of the league. The team was a disappointment in the cup, but I wasn't much fussed about that in the first place. The only goal I have going into my third year in Finland is to win the league, and I believe with the quality of players I have brought in to replace those leaving, it will be easily achievable. Here's hoping. 4. @vikeologist Yeah, you can see my manager stats in the screenshots. On a second purview, I think Finland might just be broken in the start of FM20. One of my more favorite youtubers, Loki Doki, also found it relatively easy to get a 2.5 star job in Finland with no coaching qualifications or experience. But on the offhand, I did get plenty of clubs declining me that were relatively reputable but stated that "my stature in the game would have been sufficient for future goals" or something like that.
  5. HIFK Fotboll - 2019 Report Another year and another attempt at the Ultimate Challenge. As you may recall, I've made two previous attempts at this challenge. The first I was forced to end in no small part due to a corrupt save, and the second I called to a close because I started going years without getting a job offer. This year I decided to use what I've learn from my two previous attempts in order to finally win the challenge. Something I have noticed this year is that it is especially easy to get a starting job at a relatively good level. As you've undoubtely noticed, I have began this year at HIFK Fotboll in the Finish first division. HIFK has a 2.5 stars in reputation, making them perhaps one of the most reputable clubs you can start at this year. In years past, it was hard enough to pick up a job at a one star level, thus, I believe this to probably be a bug, but a bug I will exploit nonetheless. In my first year with HIFK, I guided the relegation-touted club to safety while also ensuring that they'd pay for the first of my many coaching badges. As with most clubs that players tend to begin with, HIFK is rapidly going into debt. At the beginning of my spell with them we had a bank account of roughly 500k, but at the end of the season we are scraping by with just over 20. I'm definitely worried about financial issues going into the new season, but as I learned in my second go around last year, if you leave clubs too rapidly, you stop getting job offers. I'm planning to stick around at HIFK until a club higher up in the league sacks their manager, but we'll just have to see how that plan comes along. 6. West Ham - 2018/19 Report My goodness was this season a bit ropey. We got off to a pretty poor start with a number of losses, but due to a run in both December and January, I was hopeful of retaining mid-table irrelevance. Fortunately for both myself and the Hammers, we did manage to find that mid-table irrelevance, but barely. We suffered poor draws and defeats near the tail end of the season, and it all looked for naught until we managed to secure key wins against both Southampton and Manchester United. These wins allowed us to finish just 9 points above the relegation zone in 14th place. During my first transfer window with the hammers, I brought in four players and let out two. I let Adrian go to Firoentina because he was old, on high wages, and not going to play a game. I sold Massaku to Valencia because he wasn't English and I felt like Cresswell would do a good job in the position. Because the Hammers begin with a pretty poor right back situation, I brought in Adam Marusic from Lazio. He took the first team spot for the rest of the season, but I definitely feel as though my scouts overated him. Following Marusic, I brought in Andreas Samaris from Benfica: a proven midfielder that came in the cheap, Samaris was a good pick up. I then brought in Miha Melvja from Zenit; I originally Melvja was going to be a lot better than he actually was, but that wasn't the case sadly. To finish off the window, I loaned in Fulham fullback Maxime Le Marchand purely because I had an injury crisis at left back. I've already started the next season with 7 new signings and a loan. I spent 95 million on new players, and let go 102 million. Overall, I believe that I have improved the squad immensely, and you can see all my choices in the screenshots below. Onwards to Season 2! Also did I mention the not-quite-wonderkid regen I produced?
  7. SZEOL SC / Mjallby AIF / Belgium U23 - 2020/21 Report Wait a minute... 2020/21? Did I just skip an entire season? The answer: yes. I did in fact skip an entire season, but not by my own volition. After leaving Aberstwyth Town, with a reputation that I thought would be sufficient to get me a decent job, I got zero job offers. Much like my first job hunt, where I was left searching for months, this hunt was no different. Despite being offered numerous job interviews, I failed to get a single offer, that was until I interviewed SZEOL SC. Located in the city of Szged, Hungary, SZEOL have quite a strange history from my research. They were formed in the early 1900's, but folded in the late 20th century, but were reformed shortly thereafter. To be completely honest, I didn't look the job over very long before accepting it: I was desperate for a job, any job would do. I managed to find success with the relegation touted side. SZEOL were predicted to finish near the bottom of the league, but because the established scouts in the team were all from Romania, I was able to sign some capable Romanian players both permanently and on loan, and they helped me lead the team to a strong second place finish. I might have considered sticking with the team, but I got a job offer from one of the top teams in Hungary, and that's when I knew that I had vastly outgrown the job. I resigned and looked to foreign lands. At first I was announced as the leading candidate for a top 3 Austria side, but after getting shafted by both them and Molde, I decided to take the job at Mjallby AIF, a recently promoted side in Sweden's top flight. Looking forward to evenings of surstromming and ice fishing as I explore the Swedish league system. Until next time. 8. Small update: It's now February 2020, and I have been out of a job for almost an entire year. I keep getting interviews for jobs, getting the "Macon set for XXX FC after interview..." articles, but have received no offers. The most predominant thing in my inbox is "Interview unsuccessful". I got an offer from the Japanese-Singaporean team in Singapore, which happened to be my favorite league in my original save, but I decided to turn it down because I felt as though my reputation was more befitting of a team in a higher league. Now I wish I had accepted the offer.
  9. Aberstwyth Town - 2018/19 Report I've writen this twice already, and both times it has deleted itself. Hope this one goes better. First job: first success story. I joined Aberystwyth Town who were predicted to finish 6th, but they are a team that starts off with a 5 star leading striker and goalkeeper, so all I had to do was improve the team with a decent defense and midfield. I managed to climb up the table to 3rd, and in the final few games of the season won 2nd place by a single point. Unfortaunely, I was knocked out of the league cup, but was able to win the FA cup on penalties. I would have stuck with the club who are now qualified for Europa League, but because we are hemorrhaging money I decided to leave. Overall, a good start. I am looking forward to what comes next. 10. Files corrupted for my previous save; makes me sad, but I wasn't feeling it so much after I left China. Meet Claudia, she will be my manager for the foreseeable future as a I try to pick back up from where I ended.
  11. Brazil / Atletico Madrid - 2026 Report It's been a long time since we last spoke; I know that very well. I ended up taking an extended break from this save a number of months ago, and just returned to it today.Over the past few months I dabbled, here and there, and this has led to me unfortunately having no screenshots of my time in Brazil and the USA. Speaking of the USA and Brazil, let's talk about how that went. My career in Brazil and USA went tragically; I ended up quitting my job in Brazil to travel to the USA, where I found a buggy mess awaiting me. I decided it would be best to put the year behind me and focus on the Brazil international team. It was a good idea to focus on the international team because we ended up winning the World Cup. I originally planned to stick with Brazil for the Confederations Cup, but it is a number of years away, and I have an interest in proceeding with the challenge. My reputation grew greatly because of this win, but I still struggled to get a job at a team that had Champions League football. Eventually, after numerous unsuccessful job interviews, I landed a job at Atletico Madrid. I haven't even looked at the squad or the finances, but I know it will be better than doing nothing. Here's to a great season in Spain, and all other seasons in Europe. 12. Just noticed something interesting. Whilst most players started off on a wage somewhere between 50-300$ p/w, Sterling Caspari started off at 700$ p/w! That's way more than I would expect for a 16-year-old.
  13. Sunday league experience with no badges is the lowest you can possibly go; it's definitely harder than setting your reputation to what is recommended for the league you choose to start in because choosing what is recommended gives you some amount of experience and coaching ability. This then increases the likelihood of you getting a better job and your usefulness in training. Best of luck on your journeyman!
