[How to make 4-3-3 work?]

Hey guys.

 

Since 23 I've slowly moved away from 4-3-3, and every time I try to go back I'm reminded why. The issue is the striker, he's a glorified spectator and unless he gets goals or assists he's a guaranteed 6.4 or lower. Any tips?

Ever since 23, I've noticed that an advanced forward gets too isolated in a 4-3-3, almost a guaranteed 6.4 or lower unless he gets a goal or assist. Anyone else seeing this?

A role kinda like the attacking midfielder, but as an AML/R. I was also thinking of making it more about passing and less about dribbling than wingers/inverted wingers.

I encourage you to experiment with the team instructions, specially in the difficult matches.

 

Player instructions: everyone except the centre backs has tackle harder, and the AMCs have move into channels. I have experimented with telling the AMCs to mark the nearby fullback in order to add defensive width, but I'm not sure it makes much of a difference.

 

Also, whenever possible I use wrong-footed AMCs (a left footer at AMCR, and a right footer at AMCL).

[Pendulum defending in a 3-5-2]

Hi guys.

 

Many teams that use a 3-5-2/5-3-2 do this pendulum thing when out of possession, where the ball-near wingback pushes into midfield, the ball-far wingback stays back and the defense shuffles across, forming a 4-4-2. Is it possible to do this in game?

Hi, this even affects saves started before the database update, where I had used the names fix.

Some countries have an Additional Helper for TV money since it can't be setup correctly via the regular editor. That overrides whatever settings you have. Delete that extra helper (in both versions of the Eredivisie rules) and it should take the amounts you've set instead.

 

Hi, I created a new file removing the additional helpers, and it still doesn't work. Any help?

Did you start a new game? It may be obvious to some but changes are only applied to new games. Just in case.

That's an interesting point of view. I don't believe the basis of the TC will change soon. Getting rid of fluidity as an option was a good start, though. Nowadays you can still use a Defensive mentality and then have 8 or 9 attacking duties which hardly makes any sense. Maybe the player duties should dictate the team's overall mentality?

Mentality is one of my small bug bears. Risk is probably a better description of what it does.

[Defending transitions with a Libero]

Hey guys.

 

Recently I've been trying a couple of different configurations for my back four:

 

IFB---Lib---CD---IFB

 

and

 

IWB---CD---CD---IFB

 

The inverted wing back variant seems better at defending transitions, while being just as good at control and creativity. Which is fine, but can be a bit annoying if I want to try using a libero. What does everyone think?

In Wikipedia, the list of partner nations is different from what it shows in the game (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_J1_League). However, their source is pretty old. Does anyone know what is going on here? I suspect Wiki is making stuff up but I want to be sure, being able to sign Argentinians and Brazilians without them counting as foreigners would make squad building a lot easier.

About the J-League: if it was just missing badges/kits/faces I wouldn't mind, those can be added to a save later. But launching with missing or misnamed personnel is not a good look.
