  1. Having tried 3-4-2-1 quite a bit in FM23 and really struggled to get defensive solidity, this one really does the business. It did take about 3-4 months to properly click, but the quality of football at both ends of the pitch is excellent. Followed your advice on the height needed at CF, so Evan Ferguson and Youssef Chermiti have both done very well there and score a wide variety of goals. Defensively the opposition has to work a lot harder to break through and when we do concede it's normally from individual mistakes rather than something systemic.

Tactics like these are the most enjoyable every year, good work.

I did really well with this in my first year with Burnley finishing 5th but in the second year its not so great, at the end of the first season i lost about 5 of the last 6, then this season im 14th even though i have a better team than last year...

What annoys me most is our tactics get found out but the other teams just play the same formations year in year out LOL

My experience of this tactic across a number of teams is that the first season is actually the most difficult/inconsistent to bed it in, then afterwards the familiarity is high enough to tolerate player turnover.

  3. Mixed thoughts on this one. With a side that was expected to finish in the top 6 results were insanely good up to around December when the wheels completely fell off without any obvious injury/fatigue issues. All of a sudden the defence became a lot more porous and by around February/March I was just about clinging to the prediction so needed to switch out for an OP 4-4-2 which I’d sooner not have done.

In the second season it’s been more consistent though in general I’m getting a good number of games where I’ll hit the woodwork 3+ times, miss sitters and get hit on the counter. Not really a flaw in the tactic though, FM does what FM does!

  4. In no particular order,

    1. World class players missing open goals every couple of games

    2. Free headers always going over the bar

    3. Not being able to spend the manager's salary on anything

    4. Injuries happening instantly after the last sub

    5. Man Utd being OP in every version

    6. Players getting annoyed at exclusion league registration before the window closes

Plus the aforementioned ridiculousness regarding asking prices for anyone not transfer listed

Just absolutely maddening. The game has been out for like 7+ months now and we can't even get anyone to acknowledge this issue enough to give us an update much less fix it.

As if two instances in one game wasn't enough, now I'm getting two instances in one play. The second time he didn't even shoot either, he just kicked it out entirely!

Even if my dudes got the open goal they'd probably hit the post or put it wide

  6. I probably will but only because it will have Cov in the Championship for the first time since FM12 and save me a season or two in getting to the top flight. The tedium of missing incredible sitters and hitting the post 5 times a game while conceding to a hoof over the top, issues both well documented for this ME, does turn me off though.

  7. I did this by accident when signing a player on pre contract before quickly realising I wouldn’t need him. No fiddling around just offered him out when he arrived and was sold for basically full value. Repeating it with 3 players this time sort of backfired as the committed wages hit the following season budget.

I kind of view it as acting as a ‘broker’ to shift redundant players from huge clubs to smaller ones. Kind of like a reverse Robert Jarni.

That's the thing, most folk just want to 'plug & play' with a tactic, and I'm the same.

I don't have the patience or energy to spend 30 minutes on each match.

Cerber v4 for some bizarre reason just isn't that great for my team, I have found raptor v4 tactic (narrow in possession) far superior. Thanks @delaneytomlinson

Anyway when folk do their tests are they going on holiday mode or actually playing the game?

I play only commentary because I'm ol skool and I've never managed to win a champions league final convincingly, they always go to pens.

The game is heavily dependent on morale and I know folk that have frozen their teams morale on 'perfect' using FMRTE, as they feel the AI can screw you over out of the blue for no fault of your own.

442 raptor v4 has been the best for me.

I had good results with Cerber and Annihilator for a few seasons, then the results went really downhill for an extended spell. Switched to one from FM Base’s test pile and did far better. ‘‘Tis the price one pays for not taking the time to make and develop them yourself!

Lad you don't even know yet exactly what tff even proposed and yet you popped on here boasting about what you won and how many games you gone unbeaten and this and that and the third which I couldn't give a rat **** about and thats just me cutting to the Chase.

Before estimating how much effort it will take I want to know specific propositions regarding the OI which tff mentioned would bring about a..2% in efficiency? even if that took 40 seconds a game for 2% in efficiency doesnt sound interesting.

You know what isn't fair is this guy insulting another poster and it standing up ages later whereas I get warnings and deleted/edited posts purely for complaints about gameplay or even not being directly relevant to the thread. It's almost like people are fine with other people getting ripped on instead of a virtual game.

Okay, but in that case you should express your complaints in a bugs forum or general feedback or something like that. Certainly not in this thread which is about tactics for download. Which may or may not work, but that's a different story.

    Yeah, OK that's fair enough.

This is the point at which I have to react as a moderator. You already made it clear that you are not pleased with the tactic, and that's okay. But there is no need to keep repeating that all the time. If you don't like that particular tactic, don't use it anymore and try something else instead. Quite simple.

Take this as an unofficial warning. The last one.

    And mind the language, please!

It's not the tactic but the game. Fair enough on the rest.

  12. Case in point now: 4 games in a row drawn in the last minute thanks to hoofs over the top, twice against sides in the relegation zone. Accompanied by the usual missed sitters and a well-timed 1 month injury to boot. It's beyond a joke and you can see it coming every time irrespective of the tactic employed or instructions given. It has been like this for 7 seasons!

I think it has to do a lot with the season expectations. All TTF tactics will help you greatly overachieve as long as you are an underdog.

Once you are regarded as a title challenger, Opposition teams will try to explore your weakness rather than attacking you.

They have been pretty consistent actually, whether underdog or favourite. Most common commentary:

    'How did he miss that??'

    'He misses an absolute sitter!!'

Followed by a hoof over the top for 0-1. If I didn't have a goalkeeper pulling off miracles it'd be worse and the tendency to give the ball away on the edge of the opposition box is unreal

  14. Needed 4 points to secure 3rd place. In its infinite wisdom the game puts 3 games in a week to finish the season including away at Arsenal and United. Of course, it decides to take out my keeper for just a week with an 'innocuous injury' so the reserve has to come in. Scrape the first game so a point needed. Go 2-1 up at Arsenal with 5 minutes left, of course concede from a punt down the pitch and to crown it off, the reserve keeper drops a free kick in the last seconds to lose the game.

Players now tired, so off to United to miss a flurry of sitters before going behind. Miss a penalty and then 3 times in a row the ball sails over a defenders head to allow a 4-0 loss. Finish 4th by a point.

    I'm sorry, I'm done. That's a f***ing joke.

Multiple times i have been tempted to go back to FM18, i've found some of my own tactics work on 20 and i've had success and also had success with other peoples. But i think that plug and play era of tactics is gone.

I appreciate the work TFF and Knap do, but i tend to think there is an overkill with the amount of tactics that we see uploaded this year and last, Knap in particular puts out a ridiculous amount.  He must have about a dozen 442's  alone. Again i appreciate them both and they probably do create the best tactics overall. But i do remember the days, you'd find a tactic and that would be it, it would be your career tactic on multiple saves.

Yeah even in FM19 the TFF tactics were enough to use for seasons on end. I just found it a bit ridiculous to always be turned over by weaker sides in the same way.

hi Bro, how is your dressing room atmosphere? I found these tactics relies very much on the squard morale.

It’s nearly perfect, also best coaching in the league and facilities upgraded to max. But regardless of the tactics used (and sticking with them for at least a season or two) I concede and score goals in the same way as I did in League 1. Most annoying is players hanging around on the box, getting tackled then it’s hoofed over the top for 0-1.

I will say again that objectively performances have been very good with Knap/TFF but the match experience is unenjoyable
