  1. Long time reader, rare poster! I have started out with an Arsenal save so thought I would share some of my story so far.

    Season 1 - 21/22

    Transfers - In:

    • Nico Rovella (£23m) - Signed, but delayed until the end of the season.
    • Karim Adeyemi (£17m) - He is the chosen one to replace Auba, whose contract runs out in 2-years, so it gives me plenty of time to ease him in and not have to reply on him too much early on.

    Transfers - Out:

    • Cedric (£11m) - Wolves
    • Pablo Mari (£20m) - Newcastle
    • Rob Holding (£17m) - Newcastle
    • Callum Chambers (£12.5m) - Wolves
    • Pepe (£75m) - Real Madrid
    • Eddie Nkietah (£6m) - West Ham
    • Mohammed Elneny (£8m) - Ajax

    Loans;

    • Dani Ceballos (January)
    • Eric Garcia (January)
    • Matheus Cuehna (January)

    My glut of January signings on loan was largely down to the purge of players sold earlier in the window. I wanted to clear the dead wood, and would have made more permanent signings, but my main targets were waaaaaaaaay too expensive in January.

    Premier League - Ended up 5th. I want to say that selling the players I did cost me depth and a shot at the top 4, but the reality is I was 15+pts behind 4th.

    FA Cup - BEAT SPURS IN THE FINAL!

    Season 2 - 22/23

    After qualifying for the Europa League (sigh) and selling so many players last season, I was given £84m to spend and ample wage budget to use. So...

    Transfers - In:

    • Jude Bellingham (£87m) - I want to bring in some homegrown players, and he is arguable the best of the bunch (of the ones I could realistically sign). I needed to improve in the middle of the park and he is a foundational piece for the next decade.
    • Dominik Szoboszlai (£35m) - I bid WAY more for im January, but they eventually just accepted a bid for £35m in the summer. Eyeing him up to be 1 of 5 key pieces in the middle, along with Rovella and Jude.
    • Josha Vagnoman (£14m) - A very tactically flexible full-back.
    • Benjamin Sesko (£15m) - Same as Rovella, delayed until the end of the season to allow Adeyemi some more game time up top before Auba leaves.
    • Tino Livramento (£67m) -  Same Sesko/Rovella. I have Tomiyasu and Vagnoman, I wanted to give Livramento a full season of games at Saints before arriving. Then, I'll have to try aned move Tomiyasu on.

    Transfers - Out:

    • Lucas Torreira (£20m) - FC Porto
    • Matteo Guendouzi (£19m) - FC Porto
    • Hector Bellerin (£12.5m) - Atletico Madrid
    • Reiss Nelson (£33.5m) - RB Leipzig
    • Berndt Leno (£10m) - Bournemouth
    • Granit Xhaka (£33m) - Real Madrid

    Loans:

    • Eric Garcia - 4th choice centre back.

    So far, I've seen huge improvements in results with that extra bit of quality in the squad. We are top after 6 games, sitting on 19pts. We have progress through to the 4th round of the Mickey Mouse Cup and have 7pts through 3-games in the Europa League (playing the backups).

    More updates to follow...maybe.

  2. So many clubs have a transfer strategy that incorporates buying younger players to make profit on when they sell them on.

    I pride myself on being able to turn a profit on players of all ages.

    At the moment, the only stat I am aware of that highlights a managers transfer success is on their profile, where it states:

    number of players signed

    total cost of players signed

    number of players sold

    total fees recouped in sales

    These are very headline numbers with no detail. I would like there to be a lot more information regarding each player, showing how much you signed them for, sold them for, paid them in ages and highlighting profit/loss.

    You could go a step further and highlight the value of the player and how much of their fee has been recouped through playing for you, factoring that into the overall profit.

    These stats could then be collated to show you’re overall stats in more detail

  3. When you click on the ‘history’ tab, it tells you how many goals/assists/appearances the player has made in the ‘League’ each season.

    There is currently no option to see the same data for any other competition they have participated in.

    Can filters please be added so we can select to see individual totals for each competition (Drop Downs: League, Cup, Europe, International, Total). This then gives the ability to have a much better view of their all round stats through their career and see what competitions they have excelled in.

  4. Is anyone having problems with the board expectation of signing English players? I have signed Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho, Max Aarons and have James Maddison coming at the end of the season (along with a couple of young prospects). But outside of hoovering up any half decent youngsters outsifde of the Prem, it costs a fortune to buy English and most of them are either average or impossible to buy (Sterling, TAA, Rashford). I find myself having to spend money on mid-range English youth prospects, just to satisfy them enough to buy someone foreign. They don't even want Scottish/Irish players!

  5. I always get frustrated when i go to see a player's 'history' tab and see their 'career' stats. It only shows their league stats. There is no drop down or option to view all stats combined (domestic cup, continental club competitions etc). Can there be a filter added, so even if the league is the default setting, it can be changed to show all of their stats?

  6.

    I started with Arsenal, mainly because they have a load of players to sell for half-decent cash, meaning I could build my own squad. They have some talent to build around (Bellerin, Leno, Torreira, Auba/Laca) and lots of promising youngsters.

    In my first season, I signed;

    Kieran Tierney (£23m)

    Matthis De Ligt (£29m)

    Lucas Paqueta (£16.5m)

    Hirving Lozano (£18.5m)

    Cristian Pavon (£11.5m - Delayed his arrival until 19/20 to develop further at Boca)

    Pedrag Rajkovic  (£3.9m [Jan 19] - Delayed his arrival until 19/20 to develop further)

    Daniele Rugani (£38.5m [Jan 19] - Delayed his arrival until 19/20 to allow me time to sell some players before he arrived)

    ...and sold;

    Granit Xhaka (£9.5m - I really don't like him as a player in real-life, far too lazy, so was always going to sell him. Could have got more for him had I played him regularly).

    Laurent Koscielny (£28.5m - constantly injured and I could not turn down that sort of money for someone his age)

    Mohamed Elneny (£9m - Don't rate him)

    Shokradan Mustafi (£24.5m - Don't rate him, and he was unhappy)

    Emiliano Martinez (£7.5m - Don't rate him)

    Danny Welbeck (left at the end of his contract)

    Petr Cech (retired)

    Stephan Lichsteiner (retired)

    Nacho Monreal (left at the end of his contract)

    Sead Kolasinic (£25m - Don't rate him)

    I played a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Lucas Torreira dominating in midfield. Both full-backs were ‘CWB’, and tried to play Lacazette out wide on the right. He did OK there, but ideally wanted someone better suited. I played positively, with a modified gegenpress/direct tika-taka.

    I ended up winning the Premier League, a handful of points ahead of Man City. My home record was almost flawless, and managed to score quite a few goals on the road.

    GK: Leno (SK)

    RB: Bellerin (CWB), LB: Tierney (CWB), CB: Sokratis (CD) and De Ligt (BPD)

    MC: Torreira (DLP - D) and Paqueta (BBM - S)

    AML; Lozano (IF - S), AMC; Ozil (AP - S), AMR; Laca (W - S)

    STR; Auba (AF - A)

    I have started my second season, and made the following signings before the season started;

    Jadon Sancho (£64m - Lozano wasn't great, and wanted to see how good Sancho can become. Also half an eye on Brexit!)

    Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (£94m - arguably the best BBM on the game)

    Harry Maguire (£25m – Leicester were relegated, so snapped him up on the cheap)

    Gedson Fernandes (£40m - Delayed until 20/21 to allow further time to develop, and to phase Ramsey out)

    And sold;

    Henrikh Mhkitariyan – (£30m - Didn't really have a position for him, and not a huge fan in real-life. he's on huge wages and jumped at the chance to move him on)

    Calum Chambers (£10m - Don't rate him)

    Rob Holding (£7m - Don't rate him)

    David Ospina (£10m - Don't rate him)

    Takuma Asano (£6m - Don't rate him)

    I have started off really well, keeping clean-sheets in 9/11 games so far in my second season. My preferred starting XI is;

    GK: Leno

    RB: Bellerin, LB: Tierney, CB: Rugani and De Ligt

    MC: Milinkovic-Savic and Paqueta/Torreira

    AML; Sancho, AMC; Ozil, AMR; Pavon/Nelson

    STR; Auba/Laca

    I rotate almost every game, to make sure I keep everyone happy. That is the toughest task I find. I am trying to focus more on home-grown talent moving forward, as it has always been something I like to build around. Once Si sort out the injury bug (it is a JOKE), it'll be a little easier.
