  1. First of all, I might be wrong because I haven't tried out all the possible tactics relative to this. I have noticed that if I instruct them to play direct football or high tempo football, in both cases players choose to hit long balls at the earliest opportunity. But in some cases I want to transition with short passes at fast pace. With shorter passing and higher tempo, players still hit long balls every time. It becomes totally unplayable when I don't have a tall forward as target man

The reasoning SI gave for not being able to let your contract expire is for "continuity". I don't really understand it either - if your manager can get sacked because the team you're managing got relegated to an unplayable division, why is running down the contract not allowed? All SI need to do would be to add a popup dialogue box that says "Are you sure you wish to let your contract expire and leave [Club]?".

Continuity? Of what? That doesn't really make much sense

I don't think this part is always true since I have never seen it. But the rolling contract thing bothers me. I once decided to run down the contract at a club because afaik I wasn't really performing well enough for bigger clubs to pay a compensation and hire me. I didn't resign and refused the contract offers. So June 1st comes and I'm still at the club. There's always some weirdo at media asking if I'm happy that a kid scored on international duty, but nobody on the media or the board cares about me running down the contract. I reckon this is due to the developers believing that nobody will ever run down a contract, so they probably didn't even bother about it. But they definitely should

As SI have said multiple times before, although these kind of incidents do occur occasionally in real life, they will not be included in the current game for the foreseeable future, if ever.

@FrazT not even for regens? I understand this can't be allowed with real players just like they can't be assigned a spineless personality. But why can't regens dropkick a guy and get banned for 12 months? Especially in lower leagues where the referee has less control and its generally more chaotic

  5. Back in Football manager handheld 2013, I was playing with Mansfield Town. It was 2D only, and during one match the text showed "Beevers hits the referee". The guy got sent off and later I received a notification saying "Lee Beevers has been banned from professional football for six months for unprofessional conduct". I looked this guy up and he is a real player (probably retired by now). I've been wondering if anyone had similar experiences...

  6. Yeah this bothers me a lot. I often employ time wasting tactics.. and the GK & set piece taker promptly takes hours before kicking the ball. But they never get booked. This will add realism in a very significant aspect of modern gameplay

  7. I think, many FM players really hate the press conferences and honestly they don't add anything of substance to the experience. A better way of restructuring the media aspect can be that they take interviews of the players before/after games. Depending on the player's media handling style, he can make a dorky remark on the other team (For example: Chiellini said "It's in the history of the Spurs") or be a PR robot with generic speech. Also this speeches may affect the locker room morale on both camps (although the impact should not be significant). But even if it doesn't have any tangible effect, just watching some players being shittalkers would be fun. This will definitely be a better way to involve the media instead of the redundant manager press conferences.

  8. AI is far too concerned about star ratings while completely discarding players' form. Whenever I leave a club, there is always a few overperformers with 2.5* or 3* who used to get ~7 (say A) and also some guys who don't play well and hence didn't play much under me even though they have 4* (B). But after a new AI manager is appointed, they totally disregard the good form A has been in, and he may or may not even make the bench. Often they are transfer listed straight away. I can understand a clean slate but no real managers go into a club and just send a regular starter for 2/3 seasons straight into shadow realms based on his assistant's perception.

This type of things also affect loan dealings. One of my low PA strikers used to wreak havoc in the league one and two but I never got even a midtable Championship club approach him for loan. Since his CA/PA was low, only the league one/two clubs would want him on loan, and he would get 20+ goals every season but no higher profile clubs wanted him. This has been a long time problem and I hope SI would take a look into this

  9. I always start unemployed with no badges and sunday league. When I select major leagues (england, spain, germany, italy) I always end up in the vanarama north/south irrespective of my nationality and the language i speak. I somewhat understand that the VNN/VNS are lower quality leagues than the lowest divisions available in the other countries. But in saves where I use smaller countries (belgium, netherlands, austria, czech rep, poland) I will almost always end up in a Polish first division (tier 2) club. And another aspect of FM is I always noticed that in the lower leagues atleast, after you leave(sack/resign/moving to bigger clubs) your first job, most future job offers come from the same country. So if I don't start with a club (which ruins my immersion at the very beginning) or somehow I magically land my first job at Spain/Germany/Belgium,I can never manage a club in those countries

  10. I am currently managing Hereford on FM19. In my 2nd season with them and 4th season overall. Started with no badges, unemployed, they are my second club. Got three coaching courses complete;two of them from Hereford board. They asked me themselves whether they should raise 'assistant coach salary allowed' and I told them to invest it in youth improvement so they have started doing that as well. In my first season I barely survived my job. Was tasked with a midtable finish, got that in the end but had to fill an ultimatum of 8pts from 5 matches in between. And yet, they treat me like I'm Alex Ferguson reborn. The thing I really wanna know is,how do they decide boards' characteristics? Surely not all boards are anywhere near this generous

  11. FM13. Winning the champions league with Lotte. And that too, with scoring the equalizing goal on 90th min through Igor Marjanovic and then going on to win 1-3 in ET. Got a player named Jan Mayer when we were in the third division. Had him for almost 12/13 years and he was captain for almost 10 seasons. When the guy retired,my son was promoted to the Lotte youth setup as a result of loyalty shown to a retiring player. Never seen anything like that before, never seen it since
