  1. End of the Summer transfer window for 2028/29 and it was very quiet as I expected

    image.png.124f2d176bf6729e0d67de6569038828.png

Marc Bernal was the only major signing, a fantastic young midfielder from Barcelona.

On the takeover front, a boardroom shuffle saw all bar one of he Glazers leave, just Darcie Glazer is still here for some reason

The new Chairperson has not given me any transfer budget but this has happened to the finances.

All in all we're now in a better place with projections all heading in the right direction

  2. 2027/28 Review

3 titles in 4 years as we win the League quite comfortably

    image.png.5588ed611b42ff3daa02da7dcfc052ae.png

103 scored and 24 conceded with Hojlund top scoring with 27 in all Comps and 21 in the League.

That was our only trophy as Man City knocked us out of the Champions League after doing this to us after we take a 4-0 lead into the away leg of the Quarter Final.

    image.png.da125b9bccd691b0c72f0d4a6c7e6227.png

How can you have 50/50 of the ball and yet fall apart like that??

We didn't last long in the FA Cup as a typical FM draw saw us face Liverpool in the 3rd round

    image.png.17e612971194305e35600aabd75efede.png

Also an early exit from the EFL Cup as we go to West Ham in the 3rd round and get dumped out on penalties.

Most of my losses (Man City aside) are against the 4231 formation, very frustrating but hopefully i can eventually figure out how to put a stop to that.

Towards the end of the season from the Man City defeat onwards we suffered with a crippling injury list most of my front players getting 3-6 week injuries.

Tactic and strongest line up is looking like this

    image.png.3beaac0f8ad857af4c35f736e59a7d89.png

Rashford and Hojlund remain from the original team but i have a couple of youngsters that play regularly during the season

    Harry Amass

    Shea Lacey

Summer 28 so there is the Euros to scout.I will do a transfer update before the start of the 28/29 season.

Just before i go the prat owners are trying to leave the club, we have have had 3 takeover attempts during this save but they won't bloody leave, it's almost like SI have hard coded that they take an eternity to leave.

  3. Well, it's the end of the 2026/27 season and the Premier League has been amazing

    image.png.1b4faec13ca76a36c9c193b71217deb7.png

most notable result being a 7-0 thrashing of Man City.

Unfortunately that was the only trophy this season as we fell short in the Champions League

    image.png.e4f6e23394003a8efb6e7bd45a9c7dd8.png

Quarter Final defeat to City as 2 goalkeeping errors as we try playing out from the back gift Haaland with 2 sitters.

Newcastle knocked us out of the FA Cup at the Quarter Final stage.

    image.png.540da67a6337098729b91f2e3c829d39.png

And in a repeat of last seasons EFL Cup Final this time we lost to Championship Brighton

    image.png.d75e2e00d08d2730ff8c133e33a96260.png

Top Goal scorers were as follows

    image.thumb.png.2954b12f5bac2d33176c292c304d0b04.png

Kjaergaard was top scorer coming off the AMR slot.Hojlund had an average season only netting 17 times in the league, I need to get him closer to at least 25 in the league going forward.

I have Shaqueel Van Persie coming in from Feyenoord for £40m and barring anything surprising it should be a quiet summer.

  4. Coming towards the end of the 26/27 season and we have walked away with the League

    image.png.fae9d2205e2df3af45b0965102d45c63.png

We are playing some lovely football at times

    image.png.096242bbf6ddb779b99eadde96477548.png

My biggest issue is Rasmus Hojlund!!! He isn't scoring enough goals.

    image.thumb.png.53f1995723271d1195392b271388b5e3.png

I do have a theory though, i've tweaked the tactic slightly by changing Kjaergaard from a Wide Target Man to an Inside Forward .I think that because he has been playing as a target man the play has been directed towards him, he's had a great goal scoring season so far with 16 in the league so hopefully Hojlund will start to get a few more chances.

  5. The transfer window is into its last 2 weeks and i only wanted to strengthen the defence so i bought in 4 defenders.Garcia was on loan from last season with a mandatory buy clause, i like him he's comfortable playing in the DM position as well

    as CB.

    image.png.f14c7ee1233b4668913ed930ad297a3c.png

2 games into season 4 and we have started with a home win over Liverpool 2-1 and 1-0 win away to West Ham.

    Strongest starting eleven is.

    image.png.1f45f88d523277f12af46768af35582f.png

  6. End of the 25/26 season and we finish second to Erling Haaland as he scores 43 of their 80 odd league goals.

    image.thumb.png.231334874b8776e0121a6c9cb0a52f6e.png

Last game of the season and we are top but have to go to Chelsea while City go to Villa Park.

We blew Chelsea away but are undone by Kepa and his 8.4 rating and 11 saves and lose 1-0 to a late penalty while City win 2-0 at Villa.

On the plus side though we then had to go to the Camp Nou to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final

    image.png.14f387abfbebf36a47425dfea0e39b8f.png

Champions League winners, EFL Cup winners (4-2 against Championship Brighton) and 2nd in the League.

Just working through pre-season 26/27.Looking to add a Centre Back, left back and a right back to the squad.

I'll update towards the end of the transfer window.

The only way SI will change their approach is if they get a big hit financially. And that can only happen if people stop buying the game. I started this year. Problem, for me, is that a lot of customers probably are casual players who dont care about these bugs and will continue buying game no matter what. Thats why i dont see anything changing in the near future.  They are bussines, so as long as the numbers are good they dont care what long time players are complaining about, no matter what they say.

Ignoring years old bugs while at the same time adding half baked "features" seems to be a winning formula for the company.

I wish something will change soon but i doubt. FM 23 really killed any hope i had in this game.

It is pretty awful since the update, what a shame.

So I'm no fan of the overly-bloated FM these days, so I've gone back to the last version I bought, which was FM12 and already it is so much quicker to get through stuff. I mean, there's still bloat, but nowhere near as bad as what it has become.

Anyway, I digress. I picked Liverpool and forgot just how awful the squad was back then - there's no depth, no transfer kitty and no interest in anybody wanting to buy Andy Carroll. I therefore need some help on a tactic that makes use out of the starting squad so I can survive long enough to get some cash and buy some actually-good players. I've tried playing a 4-1-2-2-1 (think of it as a 'V' in front of the defence), hoping to utilise Downing or Bellamy as a proper wingers on the left as neither are wide midfielders (dependent upon form), with Kuyt/Maxi on the right as a defence winger. I then have Adam/Henderson/Gerrard in midfield (based on form/who isn't injured) sitting in front of Lucas as my anchor.

The defence has my full-backs on Support duty and Suarez is up front (with Carroll getting the occasional game, but he's never going to be any good, is he?)

It hasn't gone well in my two attempts so far, being sacked at Christmas on my first go (albeit I had a variant of that formation) and I've just ended my second attempt which at least had Suarez starting to score a few this time.

I know it's a long time back, but does anybody have some tips they can give me?

Even some players I can buy with my meagre £7.5m transfer kitty to flesh-out the squad would be good, but the way I see it, everybody bar Gerrard, Suarez, Henderson and Reina are pretty much expendable (does Coates ever develop well?)

That was the FM with the ghost defenders wasn't it?There was no collision detection.

Just find a quick striker set pass into space and watch him score a shedload of goals.

UPDATE: On the Low Block, Mid Block and and Everything In Between

Here I just wanted to expand more on how I have my team (Sparta Prague) defend and attack. The two key areas of any tactic.

The general aim is to have my players defending in a compact mid block. Sort of. I see it as more of hybrid between a low block and midblock. By congesting the midfield with their bodies (that 3-men midfield certainly helps) and being extremely dogged and determined in small area of space will hopefully increase our odds of regaining the ball and launching a successful counter.

What is great about mid block is that it that our defending is not confined to the area immediately around our goal which risks giving too much room to the opposition to overwhelm us. This is the main goal of a traditional low block tactic.

And neither is it too intense and stamina-draining to our own players like a high-pressing high block strategy would be. I always like a more balanced strategy which can be maintained for the whole 90 minutes rather than an extreme one which can tire your players out on both sides of the field. In the case of high press, no team can realistically expect to have its players chase the ball around and press for the whole match. Neither can they defend against constant opposition attacks if they are always stuck in the lowblock.

Thus a strategy that is sort of a balance middle between the two blocks (low and high) is what I aim for. It has the best of both worlds. We defend very intensely, like in a high press, but in a much smaller area (and in my opinion where it counts). And then we rely on the pace and finishing ability of my attackers to perform lethal counters, a bit like in low-block except it can happen much more frequently and my players don't need to run as far up the field. Nevertheless with our lower line of engagement, the space for our attackers to run into should still be there. Much more so than in a high-pressing tactic.

So all of my out-of-possessions instructions are geared to enhance the intensity of our defending withinin the compact block formed between our forwards and defenders. This zone starts just at the half-line and this is where I want my players to regain the ball. Neither low before our goal, nor too high in the opposition zone. This balance also allows us to maintain relatively low tactical intensity level.

    tac1.png.251b41c3f293e33bfaf675dc98e03d9e.png

And closer look at our defending out of possession instructions

    tac3.png.0aa30f687b98cc73a769286055138b61.png

Due to the absence of "mark tighter" team instruction in this year's version of FM, I have decided to relegate some important instruction to players individually.

    tac2.png.f364ba55a4ce4f2b6fa1e35e5cc5374d.png

Regarding my attack, in-possession set up, it's very simple and intuitive. It's main focus is help us create a pp a r in the final third, especially via one on one situations. Hence the combination of attack and support duties. Basically I use wide forwards to cut inside (IW and Raumdeuter) in order to pin down the opposition central defenders. And at the same time my central striker (DLF on attack to give him higher positioning during counters) dropping and holding up the ball. This allows him to either exploit the space between the lines or occupy the opposition Defensive Midfielder. Finally, both of my wingbacks will give us more width on the flanks. Although left Wingback (Defend) will do so more conservatively than the more adventurous Wingback (S) on the right flank.

So that is it! The latest version of the tactic. And now back to testing it with the Beta, before the final release when the full game comes out. Let me know what you think :)

Hi mate how does the underlap fit in if you want your WB(L) to hold his width?

  10. So we've got to the World Cup break and we're sitting 2nd.

    image.png.b135ccf29a4d64432bb409d59642dd70.png

I think City are going to walk the league, i'll be happy if we stay 2nd, Chelsea and Arsenal are having a nightmare of a season both mid table and Potter has already been sacked.

    image.png.9247f525b289a59b539ba799e18e5173.png

We only made a few small transfers in the summer,Stanisic is a decent right back to challenge Dalot,Baturina was bought in as back up to Eriksen as playmaker,Mukhin is a dm on loan in the Championship and Diomande has been brought in and trained as AMR to challenge Antony.

Outgoing were minimal as i found selling to be a real struggle so Maguire left on loan to Milan.

We have topped the group in the Europa League and are just waiting for the draw for the next round, The Carabao Cup saw us beat Newcastle 4-3 away from home in round 3 and we have Arsenal at home in round 4.

Ronaldo and De Gea have both stated that they want to leave at the end of the season and i won't be offering Fred a new contract so that is a cool £1m off the wage bill.

In the summer i'll be going all out for the Porto keeper Costa and the Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

    Below is our formation.

How is everyone finding Casemiro? I think he is a bit reckless and a thug. Only 18 games in and he's already been suspended three times. Twice for collecting 10 yellow cards and once for a straight red. I'm playing him as a BWM. Is that the problem?

Doesn't he have a PPM of dives into tackles?

A BWM who dives into tackles will a accumulate a shedload of cards.
