  1. The AI managers in Football Manager are stupid.

One of my biggest issues with this game that will never improve unfortunately.  lol

The new UCL Feature? No interest because managing rich clubs such as liverpool is a boring experience .

Managing a rich team such as liverpool? No interest because of the  LACK of competition from the AI over a long period of time. I don’t want to win the UCL every season with liverpool it’s not realistic.

I love managing the EPL Championship with clubs like QPR

@Yellowbucket58  Very good post, well researched.  This would be a great value to the dev team, so can I please ask that you repost this with the attachment in the relevant subforum of the Bug Tracker and at least there the developers can have a look ?

This has been reported years ago and no proper fix yet, nothing will change.

Full backs regens have been always been poor, even though fullbacks importance in the modern game has been highly valuable such as Trent, Hakimi etc

As people who follow FM, we all know that the devs try to emulate real life football as much as possible. That is something we all agree that they try to do, and they do very well.

So my question to people who are currently complaining about the lack of goals from IF/IWs who dribble and cut in from wide areas: how many goals do you actually see in real life where you have a winger pick up the ball in wide areas dribble and cut inside before curling one in at the back post?

For people complaining about crosses being too overpowered, how many goals do you see scored from crosses? For example, of the 20 goals scored in matchweek 11 of the Prem, I've counted 6 from crosses, and that doesn't include corners/free kicks.

For people talking about corners being overpowerd, West Ham have quite literally just beaten Liverpool because of 2 corners, one near post header and another far post header.

The only point I can agree with is the lack of goals from central play and possession stats.

But otherwise, the ME actually does mirror what football is like right now on the most part, which is what the FM devs promised.

    Salah at Liverpool?

    vinicius jr at real Madrid?

Hazard when he was at Chelsea?

Sterling at city At his peak?

Too many people defend the issues or bugs.

We spend months debating whether it's a bug or not

There is nothing wrong with criticism, our intention is to help the Devs improve the game.

I'm currently top of my league and I regularly have around 60% + possesion in most games. I've had a look through the top leagues in Europe (got them all on full detail at the moment, will change that when the game slows to a crawl) and it's really only the EPL where I'm seeing skewed numbers. Arsenal are top of the EPL (lol) but in a 2-0 home win v Norwich they had just 39% posession. Looked at home games for the likes of Inter and Barca in their leagues and the posession stats look more balanced. In the country I'm playing (Scotland), Celtic are top of the Premiership and are, like me in League 2, getting over 60% posession in most home games.

Thats great so this should mean that the possession bug should be more easily fixed if it's only affecting one league.

The possession bug has been already reported so hopefully the devs can fix it for the next update.

I'll try and manage Barcelona or Real Madrid to test it

  5. I fully understand no game is bug free or perfect but at least get the fundamentals of high aggressive pressing right.

I don't care about little bugs such as flawed player interactions.

But I watch football for the art of Counter Attacking football such as maintaining a narrow defensive line or Possession football such as high aggressive pressing.

Every little thing such as transfers, interactions, training can be bugged but THE MATCH ENGINE is the one thing I wish the devs can focus on.

A simulation football game where you cant even play a little bit like BAYERN, LIVERPOOL OR CITY with there effective press. Whats the point?

  6. The issue with the number of tactical exploits, cheats and advantages the human have over the A.I is because of how unnecessarily complex this game is. And the fact A.I is expected to challenge humans without any advantages or less responsibility over 20+ year seasons.  There needs to be less CLUTTER and complexity in tactics, squad management etc and the A.I should be given more advantages.

    I think we need to

    • reduce the number of tactical options as there is too many clutter and options. for example you don't need sliders or "pass into space".
    • reduce the amount of responsibility or give advantages t o A.I to help  maintain their squad quality over 50 years because they are not smart enough.

For Example I notice the A.I is soo behind in terms of tactical intelligence compared to the Human because of the complexity and number of options the tactical system have.

    • Why do we have sliders instead of simple drop down options ? keep it simple to  "short passing, medium passing or direct passing"
    • Why have 7 MATCH MENTAILITIES? and 10 TACTICAL STYLES? Keep it simple to possession, counter attacking, and balanced.
    • Why do  we need an unnecessary options for example  "pass into space". Pass into space is a type of pass, why can't high direct passing directness  automatically include "pass into space" instead of "pass into space" being a separate option
    • Why do we rely on A.I to be as good as humans when managing and improving their squad when they are not smart enough.. let them have some advantages or less responsibility.

Also this game is not a good simulation because It assumes United play vertical tiki taka (short passing and tempo) despite them playing counter attacking footballl in real life.. there is to many flaws.

  7. thank you devs for this amazing game but it does have issues.

I think issues with the large amount of  bugs, and the terrible A.I managers and their management for short term and long term saves are because of this game being unnecessaly complex for example having sliders for passing  should just be 3 options... Short, mixed and Long instead of sliders.

In real life managers don't show their players a slider on how they should pass during the match so i think having 3 options won't be the end of the world

People may disagree with me but oh well i believe no game is perfect and things can be improved

The complexity of this game may be fun for some... But i want a challenge and this game is too complex for A.I in long term games and i see too many stupid decisions from A.I managers

  8. I don't think people realize how bad the incorrect player stats bug is e.g incorrect key tackles stats

This is making match ratings incorrect or too harshly low.

This means that we can not fully understand how good or bad a player is doing relative to other players  therefore we cannot make good managerial decisions.

Player Stats and match ratings are fundamental to football manager and both are currently bugged.

Please people go and post examples to the bug forums so we can help the devs

Quick questin about Counter and Hold shape. What are the differences between the 2? And the pro's and cons...? In simple language hehe, would appreciate it.

It is how fast your team attacks in transition AFTER taking the ball from the opponent

Counter is when you push most of your players (wingbacks, midfield and forwards) forward very quickly and move the ball into the oppositions box quickly in order to exploit space left by opposition.

You do this when you have a team (FOWARDS) with quick pace, or when you are a weaker side,

    • 2015 Leicester City  and 2020 Tottenham are good examples of teams that counter

The weakness of this is that you leave yourself vulnerable against counters.

Hold Shape is when your players do not change their position after taking the ball off the opposition, your teams shape is still intact, and your team do not push forward as quickly as possible. (wingbacks, midfield and forwards stay in their position )

    • Manchester City 2020 are a good example of a team that Holds Shape

You do this when you play possession football or when your team is stronger than the opposition, or when you are playing against a low block, or when you have a strong midfield.

The weakness is that you allow the other team to get back to their original shape

Reports don't get ignored. As Neil has said previously in this thread, reports go through to QA, who review them, and if there is a bug it'll get allocated a priority based on how critical the bug is, how many people it'll impact, how much it'll impact them, etc, and then bugs will be dealt with on that priority basis. It's more likely that a bug like that isn't high on the priority list compared to game crashes, league rule issues, graphical errors, etc.

oh ok i didn't fully understand the process of bugs and how they get fixed

I guess it's not an easy process, especially during coronavirus times.

Us fans thank the devs for their hard work during these times.
