  1. Is it a must for the passer to be a no 10? If not I'd go with something like: Regista Bwm - car Ifa ifs Af And 2 aggressive wingbacks. See if thats works and if your rest defence is okay, if not a change of roles/duties might be needed.
  2. I'm curious as I want to learn more about tactics but, why did you go attacking mentality to then go lower tempo and all support duties? Is there any reasoning behind this? :-)
  3. I'm running this 4-3-3 at Stade Rennais over in France season 36/37. We're expected to finish 5th but are sitting in 7th (XG puts us in 5th and from what I can see in highlights we're missing lots of chances). Would love to get your insights and I have a couple of questions. TI's: None in possession Distribute to CB and counter in transition Mid block out of possession These alter between games though, I might have a high block with counter press and no counter and a SK-D in goal against weaker opponents In a mid block I sometimes change my CF to AF if I'm the underdog. Sometimes I even go low block vs the top 2 teams. Questions: - My best player is the left winger, which makes me wonder if I should put him on attack? His work rate makes me think not to do so... - I absolutely love Andersen, he's a hard working ball stealing demon. He plays well in the anchor role although that might limit him? Should I change to DM(d)? - Mejri is my RPM, I think he's more than suitable enough to play that role?
  4. I wonder how you guys usually approach cup finals? I've just lost the 3rd CL final in a row in my AC Milan save and it's really taken a hit on how fun I find the save... Do you usually tinker your tactic? If so, can you provide an example. For example I take off play out of defence so we don't take too many risks, drop to a mid block from a high block and put off counter pressing, chance WBa to WBs,... Might this be too passive? Idk... I can't figure out the data hub either to help me in tactics to save the life of me. Not the opposition report nor all the data provided. I don't make the links from data to the tactic I'm using apart from getting players to dribble less if they frequently lose the ball while dribbling.
  5. Depends. if you have a strikers who has good decisions, otb, first touch I’d use a dlf. If you have someone like that who can also finish and head maybe try a cf and if you have a big target man who’s strong, has good jumping reach and a good first touch you can use a TF (keep in mind that he’s a ball magnet role so players are gonna search him, even if it’s a low percentage long pass)
  6. You’re first at the end of october so I don’t think there’s much need for a change. But if your mission is to try and get Leao to score you have to create space for him to exploit. add roam from position on your ap, winger on support and full back on attack so they’re closer and you create an overload with your vol, ap, winger, fb and maybe even your CF. Having one of those have the trait switch ball to other flank you’re in for a treat. maybe change your cf (a) to a cf (s) or a dlf so they create more space.
  7. Depends on what roles you have around him I’d say. if you have for example an IFa of an SS or even an AF/P next to him, sure. But then ask yourself if he isn’t better suited to a TF because that role is a ball magnet role (at least that’s what they say :-))
  8. Could you tell me why he’s better suited to being an IW-A instead of an IF-A? I can’t for the life of me tell the differences between these two roles, even after watching videos which tell the differences as they’re so alike. F.e. i’d play him as an IF-A because he’s a good dribbler and has alright finishing and OTB. His vision and passing for me are too bad to consider him an IW-A and that’s probably where I’m mistaken if I assume the IW-A will bring others into play way more and thus needing better passing and vision than an IF?
  9. You’re right, in hindsight a very dumb question, haha. i must’ve forgotten that you had talked about that in the previous post and didn’t bother to read it back. Once I get home I’m gonna read the last 2 posts from beginning to end :-)
  10. So you had 3 issues that highlighted your first data post (below). So what changes did you make to counter them? Why did you drop your 2 cm’s back to DM strata? Did the changes that you made work? Not many final third passes attempted Low shot quality Defensive actions
  11. How is he asking his players to counter? just curious as I’m learning tactically :-) edit: apart from the instruction to counter obviously, but that’s nothing to do with the tempo as counter is an instruction that’s either triggered as to which every other instruction is thrown out the door or not
  12. Agree with most roles, but I think the LB and RB aren’t WB as they often underlap as well as not providing width that often. FB-att does the trick with PI stay narrower (as they do in build-up phase). They replicate the movement really well
  13. I think the most difficult part is to get that ‘click’ where your players get the tempo in their play instead of dwelling on the ball playing ood. getting his 2-4 build up shape is quite easy, but letting your players dwell on it just long enough so the opposition gets drawn out and then getting your players to up the tempo is a whole other story
  14. Probably is :-) Might be because he can’t find anyone he can pass to so he might revert to shooting instead. I’d look into games and see if that is indeed the problem, just pause at the moment your dlp gets the ball and look into the positioning/movement of the rest. I can imagine teams playing deep against you since you’ve just won the league twice and no one is creating space for someone else to run into. But I’d have to see your tactic for that.
  15. If you go into stats detail of your league you can go to attacking ‘expected xG’. Next to it should be the totale amount of shots you’ve taken. You can divide xG by shots taken and you should get an avarage. if shots taken are not there you can find them in another tab of the detailled stats selection of your league. you can also go into matches where you’ve underperformed your xG by a lot and take a look at the shots takens via analysis or even watching highlights
  16. Evaluate if the chances you’re getting are high xG or low xG chances. If you’re getting a lot of low xG chances your xG is high, but the xG/chance is low so it’s understandable you’re gonna struggle one way or another. if that’s the case go dig why you have low xG chances, are they taking shots outside of the 16? Why? No passing options? none of your shots in some space? No one creating space for someone to run into? if you are creating high xG chances see who’s taking them and if they have good attributes to take them
  17. Just seen I’ve typed lower mentality but really ment tempo . so they pass the ball around slowly, drawing opponents out of position and sometimes even dwelling on the ball like they do irl and then, when they think they can make the direct pass forward, they do so.
  18. Maybe try RPM? Just an idea… never played with Arsenal but I can imagine him going up and down the pitch dictating play and creating overloads to then play in Saka could work well.
  19. I've been trying to replicate De Zerbi on some occasions, mostly his attempt to lure the opponent out and then via 1 or 2 quick direct passes launching an attack. My back line is similar to yours but I use 2 BPD as I like both my defenders to make the risky pass. My FB do indeed have stay narrower. My 2 wingers is, as you've said, what is the most difficult to replicate I've found as they stay really wide but De Zerbi plays really narrow. Wingers do the job fine of staying wide, but don't really replicate irl stuff. IW with stay wider doesn't seem to stay wide enough to my liking. What I used was play out of defence with a lower mentality but a direct passing style. They will slowly play out of the back and when they see the opportunity they launch a direct pass forward to attack.
  20. Intresting read! about the red dot in the heatmap: my interpretation is that that’s where the ball is most of the time. You play a possession type system and focus play down the right hand side. Your players will not take too many risks which makes the ball go through your rcb/right fb a lot. Guess the red dot should be gone (or at least far less) in your last tweak. Have you given the LCB stay wider? You can form a more traditional back 3 that way with 2 cb and one fb
