  1. Final Data Update_Steam Event Post_EN.jpg

The Final Data Update for Football Manager 2023 is now available for download.

Featuring more than 250,000 database changes since the Main Data Update on March 2nd, this update includes activity from transfer windows that closed during February*, including MLS, along with further gameplay fixes.

All gameplay adjustments will take effect in current careers, although you will need to begin a new save game to take advantage of the data updates.

The changes in the 23.4 update include, but are not limited to:

    - Fixed rare crash affecting some users with saves started with December 2022 start date
    - Addressed an issue where users can’t ask the board to upgrade Youth Recruitment to maximum level
    - Addressed an issue where the Team Instructions will disappear when users change formation via the Formation dropdown menu in Tactics
    - Fixed an issue where Wing Play and Route One tactical styles are missing from the Tactical Style dropdown menu in Tactics
    - Fixed an issue where users were unable to unlock the ‘On Top of the World’ achievement on Microsoft Store

Most updates of this nature should download automatically but if yours doesn’t, simply quit and relaunch Steam or the Epic Games Store to prompt it to do so. If you’re playing via the Windows Store or Game Pass, you may need to manually search for the update.

If you encounter any issues after downloading the update, please use our Support Portal to raise or receiving troubleshooting help.

*Owing to a change to the closing date of Chinese transfer window, that data is not included here. Instead, a further update addressing the relevant moves specifically just covering the ins and outs of the Chinese leagues will be released in the coming weeks.

Neil...be serious man...it's not a bug.  Been like this for bloody years with most interactions.  It's obviously by design at this point, IE...no one there cares enough to actually sort it out.

With all due respect, receiving questions after winning a competition with them referring to you not having won said competition would be a bug.

In relation to updating all the text, it's not something that can be done all that easily given the game is translated into sixteen different languages and there are hundreds of thousands of different text strings in game. But appreciate that if things get repetitive then it can be frustrating.

If you have any examples where you don't feel the text works correctly and is wrong feel free to flag. Likewise if there are any press conference questions and answers, with how that would effect the gameworld that you have in mind please feel free to suggest in the Feature Request section above.

    Thanks.

Neil... any chance the press conferences will be revised over the next few years?

Changing the text?  Making the questions and answers better.

Making the conferences more interactive and dynamic, e.g. having a ticking clock after each question is asked that requires you to answer quicker otherwise the journalists lose patience and turn red... or allowing you to follow up answers by volunteering further information.... Seeing the faces of the journalists and seeing how their faces change in reaction to your answers..... things like that?

Or are we stuck with the current 16-bit gaming era press conferences we currently have for the foreseeable future?

It's the kind of thing that would have been seen on an Atari ST / Commodore Amiga circa 1989!

Happy for people to raise ideas on how they can be potentially improved via our Feature Requests section.

I noticed the same thing just this morning - after winning the CL the options were as if I had not won it.

Sorry to hear that - if you have a save game from beforehand please flag via our Bug Tracker so the team can walk through and investigate what's going on.

If you have a save to upload, please let us know the file name within the upload thread and details on how to upload here - https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/instructions-and-notes/how-to-upload-files-to-us-r98/

    Thanks.

  5. @bebgiungi worth raising via our Bug Tracker here - https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/football-manager-2023-bugs-tracker/757_medical-and-development-centre-training-and-finances/

Would say if you could provide a save game from around the point the team is about to fail FFP and be banned from the European competition, that'd be extremely helpful. Details on how to upload save games at the following link, but do remember to let us know the file name if you upload - https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/instructions-and-notes/how-to-upload-files-to-us-r98/

    Thanks.

  6. Nothing here to suggest this data is wrong. Spurs have a squad which is extremely capable of being a top-6 side and playing in this manner.

Looking at these specific examples, accurate passing is fine, but if it's a lot of non-penetrative ineffective passing in your own half it won't have much bearing on positive results.

With your cross completion, it's still in 15% from 20 crosses - that's only 3 a game. Not exactly creating Beckham-esque chances. Similarly stopping teams passing often against you is useful, but not going to win you games if you're conceding bucketloads via set pieces.

Would like to look at the save and clarify in more detail, but we don't have access to Touch cloud saves I'm afraid. Remember stats are a useful gauge to analyse how your team are playing, but they won't tell you the whole story without context.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fj_W2S2YNYo_7-z3vjCCGE36oOhPyqaV/view?usp=sharing here is my save. today when i was saving my game my computer crashed (i have no idea why) and now i can't open my game. Please help me 🥺 , can someone repair it?

By default there is a backup, called last save overwrite backup.fm - does this load? Should be in your save game folder if you click 'Load Game' (rather than Load Last Game') via the main menu.

  8. We’re delighted to announce that Football Manager 2023 has been Verified for Steam Deck compatibility.

With Steam Deck you have the power of a PC in your hands, allowing for gaming on the go. You can take your Football Manager career on your travels, either with a brand-new save game or by taking advantage of Steam’s cloud saving compatibility with an existing save game from your home system.

Football Manager 2023 is now Steam Deck Verified

If you already have Football Manager 2023 in your Steam library, it’ll be there ready for you to download and install* when logged into your account via the Steam Deck.

If you’ve got a Steam Deck and wish to buy FM23, just click the Steam button to bring up the menu and go to Store to bring up the regular Steam storefront, where you can add to cart and complete the purchase.

For any questions about running the game via Steam Deck, please visit our dedicated FAQ for further information.

*The game’s first-time setup requires an active internet connection

Can someone from SI clarify if youth development and the AI’s issue with not picking young players anywhere near often enough, who are clearly good enough, for the first team AND national teams, is being looked at for the next update please?

All issues raised via the Bug Tracker are investigated by our team. Depending on the priority of the issue, risk assessment of any changes and time available we will look to address as many as we can.

What you've listed there are factors which all have a large number of influences in game, so would be a case of balancing a number of aspects in order to change how it currently works. As always we're looking to get the most realistic representation of real life football and work is constantly being done on that to do so.

  10. Ah okay, that looks like it may well be causing the problem as that looks like a shared drive rather than local? Realistically if you can I would suggest finding space on the C:, but if you can't or space is limited, still worth trying H:.

To do so, go into H and as a test, right-click and select 'New Folder' to create a folder. Let's name it 'FM23 Test'. Then enter as follows in the launch options:

    --user_data_location="H:\FM23 Test"

Make sure to have created the folder before you put this in the launch options. Then launch the game and see if it now allows the game to run.

    Neil,

    #585960

    Thanks

So to be clear on this one, no Sports Interactive folder in documents will have been generated as the game has never successfully launched. These folders are only generated when the game launches correctly, which is why you're only seeing the cloud folder.

The most likely cause for this is anti-virus conflict. Appreciate that your anti-virus has been configured to add Steam to the exceptions, but we have seen scenarios in the past where AVs continue to block silently causing issues like this. In those circumstances we've found that running Windows Defender, then uninstalling your current AV and FM then reinstalling FM will then allow to run successfully. Are you able to try that?

Failing that being the cause, it could be down to the creation of folders for some reason being blocked, but as you've said you've tried the launch option within Steam that should address that. This video is for FM20 but still contains the relevant info to make sure you can double check you've done this correctly - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbfpKkeVxjI

I've put this info in the support ticket as well as an FYI.

I still cant get the game to launch from Steam and support are so slow responding, would really appreciate some help!

    I am playing on a new custom built PC Ryzen 5 5600X, Asus Prime B450M-A II, 2 X 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz DDR4, Crucial P2 SSD 500GB, Zotac Gaming 3060.

The PC launches and runs FM12, FM21 Touch, Call of Duty no problems however when I try to launch FM23 it comes up synchronizing cloud and says launching on the left then changes to running before stopping with the green play icon coming back up on the game screen.

These are the steps that support have taken me through so far:-

    Sent DXDIAG & Belarc reports

Shut down PC, unplug second monitor and restart computer using single monitor

Uninstall graphic card drivers including assosciated software and re-install

Uninstall & re-install game from Steam (I also went as far as uninstalling Steam aswell)

Move all folders from C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2023 in to a backup folder created on desktop (the only folder that was in here was a cloud folder, as soon as I tried to relaunch following this step it just recreates this folder)

They then moved on to something about a Ondrive folder providing a link https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/articles/9996916052369-How-to-change-the-Football-Manager-s-Sports-Interactive-folder-location-in-my-computer-#text, I cant follow the first step as the game wont launch to go in to the game menus and I have tried changing the set launch options in Steam but not sure if I have done it right?

Thats as far as I have got with support.

I am on a work PC on a network and have tried installing steam and FM23 on another desktop on the network with no problems, game launches all ok and it is a really basic desktop PC, I would say that rules out any network or anti virus issues? (I have also had my IT company add steam to the exceptions on the AV)

I would really appreciate any help!

What's your support ticket number so we can follow up there? Thanks.
