Ouch. So you know whether those rules are realistic? If they're not then defo worth raising with the head researcher.

Yeah it's all legit. It's just a shame 90% of the intake wants scholarship/full-time status. It will just cause chaos after 2 or 3 intakes as you can imagine. If they all wanted an immediate a youth contract it would not be a problem.

Year 0 | It Surely Can't Get Any More Worse Than This?

    Prelude:
Since the emergence of the A-League. Perth Glory have had it tough and not seen anywhere near the success they had when they first emerged in the now defunct National Soccer League.
Being the only professional club in Western Australia, Glory represents a large catchment area developing talent for the national team and has unfortunately seen great success in the wrong areas.
Particularly, cutting their own products only for them to succeed elsewhere...

In a post-Covid-19 world, Perth Glory has had the significantly shortest of straws when it comes to the Australian-based clubs in the A-League. Having hardly been able to play in their own city, let alone their own stadium.
Sinking millions of dollarydoos every year and getting stuff-all in return.
They are truly a shadow of their former... uh.. former-former-self?
It's time to put this farce to an end and return to the Glory days.

    A New Chapter:

The purple circle that has been in-control during the majority of the A-League era are aware that they are on their final hill to die upon and drastic measures must be taken.
The decision to close-up shop and focus 100% on their own youth products has finally taken action. Club Owner Tony Sage came out to back the new era of the club and stated that
"We won't even be buying players from the local Western Australian clubs. If you want to become a Perth Glory player, you have to earn it by joining our academy."
Sage further noted that the club needs to put in the hard work and time to create our own superstars and not inheriting has-beens either.
So that means no more Daniel Sturridge's, William Gallas', gosh even Robbie Fowler's.
"They just don't work out. We need to make our own." Sage claimed.

Still bitter about previous West Aussie products leaving the club Director of Football Terry McFlynn had left an open threat to those from their old home.
"If you leave this club as a player, you aren't welcome back  with open arms until the day you hang up your boots".
    He further reiterated,
"Of course, if you come through our system and a better opportunity comes with the right conditions, we will wish you all the best.
The point is, we want to be in control both business and performance-wise, with extra precautions and total awareness that there is someone next coming down the factory line".

Maybe things are changing? Let's see who will be steering the ship...

    The Manager:
    image.png.c3126f91efea29766a32254c3d4da1eb.png

A fresh face to professional football management has entered the senior game. Kalgoorlie-born and proud Western Australian Bruce Hogan has taken the mantle to lead the first team after working in the Glory ranks as a youth coach for quite some time.
"I know I am an unknown face, and I know the first team fellas have no bloody clue who I am, but I know the kids coming up and if we are to stick it out with this new club vision, then I'll put me hand up and grab the bull by the horns".
Hogan further stated that "The club desires to hire someone who they believe will get the best out of the upcoming players for this club. I am 100% dead-set I can achieve that for them. I love this club, I love this state. I only want what's best and I hope the fans get behind me. Each and every single one of them represents me. I am their manager they have been begging for. I am gonna take it right up those Easterners. It's West vs The Rest."
This whole club-wide decision is a massive gamble, especially hiring a manager who hasn't competed at this level before. Does he require the necessary skill set to maintain the peace with current personnel of players and staff. At the end of the day it doesn't matter. Hogan is just a placeholder to let the board control what happens to their club. The club have hired someone who has only played the game as high as Sunday-league level in the Western Australian Amateur Premier League and has not one coaching badge to his name.
A slap in the face and a disgrace to football.
    Corruption at its finest.

Football Australia and the Australian Professional Leagues bodies have both refused to comment on the hiring of Hogan however stated that they will be "considering a third-party investigation regarding Perth Glory's professional license for further renewal in the future".

Let's give this thread some love. Maybe one day Australia will finally have Pro-Rel, but for now, let's take on this unique challenge shall we?

@The Gold Guardunless im reading your skin wrong, Stojanovoc never been capped by Serbia? Im looking at this on my phone, without my glasses, so could be wrong, but if true that surprises me!

@WhiteCat33aw that must have been hard to do! Great run for them so far in your save!

Yup never been capped. To be fair, the Serbian NT striker looks amazing worth 100m+ Euros at Juventus in my save. Doesn't look like he is going to get a cap any time soon if you got players of that calibre in front of him. That goes for a lot of my squad. Red Star and Partizan still churn out wonderkids year-in and year-out.

    OFK Beograd - Year 19 (2040/41)

    League | Continental
Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

We are in that awkward phase where we are too good for our domestic scope but subpar in the continental scope.
Yeah, it was nice upsetting Real Madrid but we were extremely lucky and it would take a miracle to get through the group stage.

Whilst it feels nice to dominate the league, it sure would be nice to get a cup win as well to complement it. We look like it at times but then we go through weird phases where we can’t score for the life of my wife.
I hope with more age and experience naturally approaching my team I can exponentially grow. We have a tight cohort being built and I am trying hard to maintain that.

    Transfers | Finances

Losing our star keeper to a minimum release fee clause sucks. What doesn’t suck though is having a plethora of replacements in the pecking order.
We have a great thing going on here and that is evidently observed by the finances and the tight-knit wage budget. My secret is to bump up the weekly income and get rid of all extras. It works like a charm.

Youth Squad | Preview | Intake

Not the greatest of cohorts but it isn’t terrible. If I can squeeze out two consistent first teamers every year that will be a great output.
I have a lot out on loan which does me a great job in squeezing cash out of clubs and offloading deadwood for some kind of bizarre profit.
Our reputation increases yearly which allows for more demand for my youth products. I have to let some players go because despite being solid, there is so much talent ahead of them.

    Notable Prospects:

    Filip Petrovic (41A) | Slobodan Vilotic (41B) | Milenko Veselinovic (41C)

    Healthy Crops:

    Ljubisa Stojanovic (35C)

Exact same output as last season. I got myself a club legend in the making.
Going to do my utmost to keep him around but every time he wants a new contract, it’s a ridiculous lowball release clause.
I’d rather sell him for a profit in his final year for the club to be quite honest.

    Martin Sivsic (39A) & Vlada Joksimovic (40A)

The AA batteries in the attacking front of the pitch. Absolute spark plugs that are giving my strikers life support.
I am blessed to have two back-to-back hot prospects that truly give meaning to the Golden Generation terminology.

    OFK Beograd - Year 18 (2039/40)

    League | Continental
Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

Back to winning the league again, thank goodness.
We had a solid start to the season in the league and it only got better once continental congestion was out of the way.
We spent this season failing to get into the Europa League and bide our time in the third-tier comp instead.
I rotated the squad on weeknights, not too fussed about that and would rather put my energy in getting champions league football for next season.

We were absolutely blitzing and I don’t think we lost a game in 2040 yet. This was thanks to an experienced backline, a sprouting centre of the park and a flourishing forwardline.
Cannot complain one bit. Maybe we should have put more effort in the domestic cup and win the double, oh well now I am just cherry-picking.

    Transfers | Finances

We got lucky in the transfer window with only a couple major departures. I got some boisterous prospects salivating at the chance of first-team football so this year was assumed by myself to be a teething year. I was wrong.
I am worried now that I got so many mature prospects now, match-ready and silverware on their CV’s I am going to get raided HARD this upcoming summer window.

Youth Squad | Preview | Intake

No competitive fixtures this year - which meant more outgoing loans. I am glad that the majority of my youth are getting minutes abroad but some really got the short end of the stick.
Not happy about that - I will be shoving my loan manager to the side. I am the captain now.

I got one player straight into the first team with this intake. A rarity at this stage of the challenge. In a versatile manner as well. Stoked.
Everyone else looks to me like they will be part of the loan-line and eventually make their way as long as players keep getting sold.

    Notable Prospects:

    Vlada Joksimovic (40A) | Feda Krsmanovic (40B) | Svetislav Mitrovic (40C)

    Healthy Crops:

    Ivan Jovic (30E)

What a legend. Plays his role perfectly. As much as it would be nice to have a world-class prospect, you have to commend loyalty.

    Nikola Milosevic (37A)

Another great season by the young goalkeeping prodigy. Hope he can get sold for a good so I can get that sweet, sweet future transfer percentage glory. Also for the fact that I have like 3 keepers who could also be first-teamers.

    Stefan Stankovic (35I)

He has taken the AMC role and is not giving it away any time soon. A great complement to our strike-force and can also play the mezzala role well too.

    Ljubisa Stojanovic (35C)

Don’t be fooled by the record. He will score 5 goals a game then go missing for 5 games. I need to work on his consistency to totally capitalise on his potential peak.

Finally found time this week to finish this season up! Been so flat-out IRL and will just be occasionally popping by to update as I go. I have so much fun when I get to find the time to immerse myself in this universe.
Thanks for your patience & support everyone! So good to see so many amazing stories in this thread! Keep it all up!

    OFK Beograd - Year 16 (2037/38)

Domestic | Continental | Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

A mighty Threepeat! We played tremendously over multiple campaigns. Super proud!
Serbian domestically has improved slightly with a puffed-chest continental presence in all three competitions which has allowed the league to get stronger and thrive.
Despite all the imports coming in from all over the world to other clubs, a lot of players are being sold out additionally which is harsh for a club like mine where I am losing my best-of-the-rest but cannot bring anyone in at all.
I think next season will be tough to repeat one more for four.

The Champions League was commendable and despite finishing rock bottom, I think it was a blessing in disguise to help finish off the domestic league in style.
Our youth are maturing at a good pace which I feel has benefitted from the facility upgrades. Lots of players who are fringe are getting sent out to better loan options which in return brings a great long-term production line for our first team squad.
I love the position in which I am in currently. Time to boost the finances to sway players to stay in the future…

Winning this challenge will happen. It is just a matter of when!

    Transfers | Finances

We got raided harder than most years and I think this trend will only continue. I am okay with this for now as we keep bulking the finances.
If we keep selling one or two prospects each year for good coin and keep getting the prize money from competitions we will be an unstoppable force in the near future.

    Youth Squad | Preview | Intake 1 | Intake 2

I have a great thing going on here and I have to say it, and I hope I don’t jinx it: I don’t think we could have a ‘bad intake’ ever again.
I definitely think there are better classes than others but each year I am guaranteed at least someone or something to provide me either a financial or competitive gain. This is the case for this year.

I have quite the production line going as you can obviously see. The loan system works tremendously well as I have decided to follow the Chelsea model.
It's a sink or swim approach and only the strongest survive and the weakest get sold. I won't be able to compete with the other clubs who are in the U19 league or have a B-team so this is the only way I can keep up.

    Notable Prospects:

    Svetozar Nikolic (38A) | Mirza Kovac (38B)

    Healthy Crops:

    Kjell Steegmans (34B)

The Belgian-Serb made an instant impact being a handy playmaker and commanding the middle of the park.
He provides a different flavour that can be tough to replicate in future intakes so I hope he sticks around.

    Sasa Vukovic (30C)

Mr. Reliable. I feel the heartbreak eventually coming where I have to move him on but he can do no wrong in my eyes even if he can’t make the moves in the Champions League.
A great domestic league legend. I hope I can convince him to be an impact sub and stick around.

    Zoran Nikolic (35A)

He remained with me until the end of this season but I don’t think I can hold much longer no matter what money I throw in front of him.
This transfer window upcoming has lots of big clubs interested and I won't get in the way of it.
Thank you for the memories Zoki <3

    Bojan Jakovljevic (31A) & Ivan Jovic (30E)

J&J - my reliable defensive duo. Always doing great in the domestic game but evidently don’t have enough in them to make it in the continental front.
It will be hard to eventually say goodbye to them whenever it may be. For the time being, I am content with their journey.

    Nikola Milosevic (37A)

Claimed the top spot in-between the sticks and I can’t see that changing any time soon. I want this boy to play 1000+ games for me!

    Sasa Pejcic (33G)

My new captain of the club. He has slotted in the wings perfectly and I hope he enjoys his tenure leading the squad.
Came out of nowhere to be quite honest and definitely flew under the radar but now he is loud and proud amongst the team leaders.

    OFK Beograd - Year 15 (2036/37)

Domestic | Continental | Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

Two years consecutive league champions! This is the first time that has happened in the league in over a decade. We reached a dominant boom in our squad where we had excellent rotation and youth players who stepped up whenever they were given the chance.

Certain games were ultimately too tough of opposition that could not keep us in the run for Champions League or Europa League glory but I am proud of the team's effort to at least dominate the domestic spectrum. Would be nice to win the cup some time soon....

    Transfers | Finances

Oh boy minimum fee release clauses really screwed me over now.
Whilst the finances are looking great I think my president still does not care about the cushion and thinks any offer is just too good to turn down. I think next year will be tough to retain the wonderkids.

    Youth Squad | ContinentalPreview | Intake 1 | Intake 2

We actually had a youth competition to participate in, which we did alright in. Most of my best youth were abroad on loan but I was proud of the 15/16/17 year olds who stuck around and gave themselves a good run.
The actual intake was rather good. I think I got myself a goalkeeper who could be my long-term project.

    Nikola Milosevic (37A) | Dusan Popovic (37B) | Kenan Tutic (37D)

    Healthy Crops:

    Sasa Vukovic (30C)

Hard to replicate a 40+goal season but to achieve over half of that in the next season is commendable.
I think he has hit his ceiling and it sure is not enough to progress, but I’ll keep him around.

    Jovan Krmar (31D)

I think this year is surely his swansong with me, he is absolutely performing and I think cash is king in the grand old scheme of things.

    Bojan Jakovljevic (31A) & Denis Ratkovic (34E)

My two powerhouses in defence, unfortunately going to be losing Denis at the end of the season to PSG.
Good luck to him, I hope Bojan sticks around too…

    Zoran Nikolic (35A)

Oh boy what a glow up! This kid has it, he can keep the winning form coming.
I hope so because I get some low-ball offers with attempts to unsettle him but I am willing to throw the kitchen sink to keep him.

  8. 1200px-OFK_Beograd_svg.thumb.png.f609c98bab973b48dafa768e0d456dcb.png

    OFK Beograd - Year 14 (2035/36)

League | Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

Our very first piece of silverware has finally been achieved thanks to absolutely dominating the league! We never looked out of place or out of shape despite hiccups in the transfer market and long term injuries.
Our squad is in a position where if someone is out for a lengthy spell, someone will step up or step into the role. Amazing stuff. It was great to see a solid defence with clean sheets and a star striker who could bang in multiple goals a game.
All complimented with a flexible midfield line that gives the performers in Cirque Du Soleil a run for their money.

We tanked the cup and put all our energy into getting as high as possible on the table to creep into continental spots. Ironically, we were looking downwards majority of the time to see who was going to keep up with us.
Of course, Red Star were always nearby but despite losing to them early-on, we also kept them an arm's length away with some handy victories over tough opponents and absolute decimations against minnows.
Complacency was not an issue and that is observable by the goal scoring and conceding records. Let's see how we can keep this momentum going with a busier schedule again but a deeper squad.

    Transfers | Finances

I made the executive call to clear out a few of the old guard. They have been tremendous in their ability to help us climb up the table but it was time to move on. Players I had experienced week-in and week-out keeping our heads above the water and also swimming to shore. Now with some absolute young guns taking over, I knew I had to cash-in while I could. This however was also continued in a typical fashion by the people above me...

The president once again grabbing any piece of cash he can, and the manager putting it straight into facilities. A lovely cycle that keeps repeating despite how frustrating you want to keep a team together.
We lost Nemanja Milovanovic (31B) and Boban Saponja (33B) respectively to bigger domestic and continental rivals. Even though I begged for more cash to be squeezed, nothing could be done. I had no power.
This edition of the game is a lot less forgiving in that regard. We sucked it up and carried on. Business as usual. I hope he likes the trophy cabinet looking less dusty now.

    Preview | Intake

Our intakes are getting more exotic as the feeder clubs keep expanding. Additionally with my manager's obscure nationality, this universe is rather peculiar to observe.
Look, now that I have a great squad the stars and grades are naturally going to deflate in value.
This is the opposite problem I had in the beginning where everyone was inflated in value. This is the beginning of the end.

    Notable talents include:

    Boris Todorovic (36A) | Dalibor Radovanovic (36B) | Khalid Houari (36C)

    Healthy Crops:

    Sasa Vukovic (30C)

41 goals is something truly spectacular that I have not experienced in a very long time. After a rough season last year, he bounced back with venom.
I also put him on penalties despite better takers. I am here to beat records after all...

    Jovan Krmar (31D)

Another record breaker in the clean sheet department. Nothing could get past him at a point in like 12 games or something.
What a true professional between the sticks.

    Nemanja Jovanov (33A)

Has taken over the playmaking role with dominance.
I am worried he will be the next talent who will be leaving me before the champions league campaign begins with the appeal of tempting, lucrative offers as soon as the window opens.

    Bojan Jakovljevic (31A)

The 2030s youth intakes are healthy at this club, none healthier with the tremendous command that this magnificent specimen holds.
We may say the keeper had a great season but he honestly did not have much to do. Especially when you have this guy in front of you!

    ______________________________________________________________

    Keep it up everyone!

    OFK Beograd - Year 13 (2034/35)

    League | Cup
Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

Oh my goodness what a rollercoaster of emotions. At one point I was about to get sacked and the next I was untouchable.
We were appalling to begin with as we got kicked out of every continental opportunity we got. However a late season surge helped us stay in the top half and focus on a really good cup run.
Fatigue at the start really screwed us over but we did well post-winter and new players stepped up.

It was an absolute shame that we lost in the final. We honestly sh@t the bed. Early conceding, a red card. It was going to take a miracle.
There was no miracle. We have to work harder next year. I can't have a repeat of this season's abysmal start. Let's try and get back up to continental contention, I say...

    Transfers | Finances

We lost our star prospect in Vladimir Milovanovic (32A) to Manchester City and the board would not let me negotiate.
I don’t blame them, that money helps out a lot for future infrastructure. I just wish we got a better deal. His brother is also looking to weave a move but I’ll do my best to keep him.
Besides that, I loaned out a lot who were phased out by new blood despite how unhappy they were. I have to move on and can’t afford to be sentimental.

    Preview | Intake 1 | Intake 2

This intake was a bit average to be honest. Maybe the potential is there but honestly not too keen on sending players straight to the first team any more unless they are absolute freaks.
Once they turn 17 I’m looking for a lower league loan move and when they turn 18 they have to basically prove themselves at our network of feeder clubs throughout Europe.
I know I'm taking it for granted. I see all of the other intakes from my fellow challengers. It just hits different now when you are trying to get silverware.

    Notable talents include:

    Zoran Nikolic (35A) | Bogdan Lazarevic (35B) | Ljubisa Stojanovic (35C)

    Healthy Crops:

    Bojan Jakovljevic (31A) & Ivan Jovic (30E)

J&J proved once again why they are the top dogs in the backline. Very hard to penetrate. I have some great youngsters but these two are my dependable duet.

    Sasa Vukovic (30C)

Not as successful of a season, I expected more to be honest. Still a great resurgence towards the end when he was my only striker left.
He stepped up. Maybe he suffers a bit when there is a threatening young talent creeping on his ability...

    Nemanja Milovanovic (31B)

Definitely my best player in the team. Super reliable and going to be hard to replace if he follows suit like his brother next season. I hope he sticks around.

    Jovan Krmar (31D)

He has been an absolute ghost so far within my squad just lurking around but he was influential when we needed a kick up the bum to get winning form again.
Has been really great in my goalkeeping rotational policy.

     4) loan to a mediocre club with bad facilities and maybe even semi pro but is a star player hitting 35+ games

I have done this for my save with OFK Beograd and have managed to get loan agreements with teams without loaded leagues and it has done me wonders. Also boost those training facilities ASAP. I am so close to State of the Art tier and it goes a long, long way. I am hoping to win the league in a couple seasons and pip Red Star eventually.

    OFK Beograd - Year 12 (2033/34)

Table | Squad | Season XI | Overall XI

Let's start with the good - second place! RECORD HIGH! I am absolutely chuffed! Great to see we are aging like fine wine and not the carton of milk in my fridge!
We absolutely crushed it and achieved well-past our key performance indicators. Our attacking force was menacing and our defence was even more convincing than previous years.
Middle of the park has been solid. Still our weakest point but not that bad when it comes to domestic competition. Needs to step up if we want crowns to wear on our heads.
A slight hiccup with losing our main keeper to the January window saw a bit more blood, sweat and tears than usual.
Despite this, I think we are in safe hands with our new pair of gloves inheriting the role between the posts.

Now onto the serious business - This squad is a ticking time-bomb.
I can see this summer being a total collapse if I don’t at least get into continental football.
Fatigue will be another problem next season because I did not have one ounce of worry about this domestic saga.
We need to rotate more again and I think the depth just isn't quite there yet. Hope I am proven wrong.

    Transfers | Finances

Finances are looking safe - don’t be fooled lingering around the 1m mark, I pumped more into the training facilities.
This is super important as I need progression in the players fast if they want to be either in the first team here or be sold for a bigger buck to another.

    Youth Squad | Preview | Intake 1 | Intake 2

The class of ‘34 are an unpredictable bunch leaning on the side of positivity.
I see some players who can crack into the first team immediately and leave an impression but I honestly think that they will be here only for the short term and grow too big for the club.
Everyone else, I may be babysitting them and loaning-out for quite some time.
I have definitely embraced the Chelsea approach by hoarding my youth and hoping to leech coins off others until their contracts or asking price hit their limit or slide in to my first XI.

In short, I can see the front of the pack getting picked up early-on after providing stellar efforts at the near-end of this season. I hope the rest enjoy their stay and pick some coins along the way.

    Notable talents include:

    Vuk Pantic (34A) | Kjell Steegmans (34E) | Denis Ratkovic (34E)

    Healthy Crops:

    Bojan Jakovljevic (31A)

Sprouted as my main man to rely on in the backline. Rewarded with a new contract to fend off interest. Hoping to keep around for a bit and work towards him getting to his peak.

    Ivan Jovic (30E)

The partner-in-crime. Since the sale of some older veterans, this young lad has come in full-swinging and not looking to budge. Really proud of his surge to solidify a first team spot.

    Sasa Vukovic (30C)

Two-time Golden Boot winner! Surpassed last year with still ~10 games to go. Oil giants are already looming for his signature and I think I can still squeeze one more season out of him if we give a good charge into the continental competitions.

    Nemanja Milovanovic (31B)

Filled the void of the left flank wonderfully. Will be happy if I can get one more season out of him. Hoping he can develop a good partnership with his younger brother in the future.

I am too attached to this save and have decided to press-on to try and complete this challenge!
Maybe when 22.3 comes out I will go and enjoy a save heavily modding the crap out of the game but for now I am going to enjoy Beta-Vanilla blissfulness :)

A good run in the Conference League qualifiers helped us enjoy an even greater run all the way to the knockouts. A shame we lost to Celtic but honestly, they are a magnificent side in my universe.
I thought the fatigue would hit the squad harder but we rotated well. I am happy with how we managed multiple-game weeks.
It is good to know I can go back to focusing on the league next season. A sigh of relief in a way.

    Transfers | Finances

Finances are looking great, some healthy investments but also some healthy income thanks to continental football.
Hoping to make some profit from player sales too!

The class of ‘33 looks great! I am super stoked with this amalgamation of squaddies.
Already let some get involved in the first team early-on because I want my older boys to know that they should take a hint and move on to be quite honest!

    Notable talents include:

    Nemanja Jovanov (33A) | Boban Saponja (33B) | Dragoljub Trivunovic (33C)

    Healthy Crops:

    Matyas Meszaros (26C)

The Hungarian-Serb had a standout season and has been away from the spotlight for the past couple of updates.
He is still around and is solid for me at the mezzala role. Or should I say 'Meszala'? - I'll see myself out.
Just want to give him some overdue credit sheesh give me a break...

    Ahmed Zubanovic (25D)

Another consistent dressing room leader who needs some praise here. I always thought 'Zub' was going to be a handy defender but he is an even better midfielder.
I really hope he gets to play for Bosnia in the future to bump up his reputation.

    Sasa Vukovic (30C)

Golden Boot winner! First time for the club in the youth-only era.
I think some clubs are knocking! I am not mad because...

    Nemanja Milovanovic (31B) & Vladimir Milovanovic (32A)

...This is why I am not mad!
Better known as the ‘Milovanovic Brothers’ to the fanbase. A main reason why I decided to continue on. These two are like my sons to me. I am attached.
These two absolute future ballers have given me a sense of security in my mind to let the experienced attacking force move on to greener pastures if the right offer comes.
These two are the future. I wish FM allowed regens to actually be related in-game would add so much more realism… shame I can’t use the editor -_-
