  2. No, as an experienced FM player, I generally have my future (1-2 seasons ahead) first and second 11 already mentally planned. It is an upgrade on the old squad depth screen, but even that I only used it a handful of times in the thousands of hours I’ve spent on FM.

For me, simply arranging the shortlist by position more than suffices for planning - it is way more informative too. I do appreciate the idea as it may help new players, but it’s not for me.

What staff is everyone hiring? I want to do a mini overhaul and main people I’m bringing in is:

    N. Butt (AM)
    Oliviera (GKc)
    McGuiness (Coach)
    Nuno Gomes (coach)

Ideally want a better DoF also.
Have gotten rid of McClaren and vd Gaag.

There’s quite a few options, the Portuguese guys are fantastic: Raul José and Quaresma, there’s also Baldini, Tinius (GK). There’s also a Roma coach who looks great - Salzarulo. Montiero and Colbert are perfect fitness coaches.

Trezeguet looks a great chief scout, Ribalta or Monchi look very good options as a DoF.

I am playing on a large + database with multiple nations loaded fyi.

  4. Thanks for setting up the Utd thread.

Started my Utd save last night, managed to get Maguire (12.25m), AWB (16.75m), Fred (8.5m) and Heaton (free) out the door to free up some budget.

Replaced coaching team, gutted scouting team to below 15 scouts (anyone below 16 Judge CA/PA) and in the process of sorting out the medical team.

    As for transfers in:

    Managed to get Barella (£60m - £20m + £40m) , Bastoni (£65m - £25m + £40m) and Khellvan (£9m) in.

Must admit they’re unrealistic transfers but it’s the beta so just in the process of testing formations, players and having fun.

Something is definitely wrong with the work permit points allocation. Just had Yacine Adli (my backup in case contract negotiations fell through) get a work permit, but not Sandro Tonali.

This is for the 21/22 season, so Tonali has just come off his loan with AC Milan. Played 20 league games, 12 European games, and 9 games for Italy in 20/21.

Adli on the other hand played 34 league games for Bordeaux and no continental or international games.

Either neither of them should get a work permit or only Tonali should, anything else is insane.

    Have uploaded file as AllpressWorkPermitBug.fm

Would be really interested to hear the response to this, I think there’s an issue with work permits where the player has come back to the parent club from loan.

I think that’s what caused the issue with Luca Pellegrini.

IRL, once the 1st January 2021 rolls around, even if England kept the exact same work permit rules as we have right this second, Tonali wouldn't qualify for a work permit easily. Why?

    https://latitudelaw.com/news/the-fas-policy-on-non-eu-football-players-and-possible-implications-following-brexit/

He doesn't have the senior (not u21) caps required to automatically qualify. However, under the current rules, he may succeed via an appeal to the points system, dependent on the size of the transfer fee, his salary, etc.

However, IRL, the FA are currently looking at scrapping the appeal system, or at the very least removing the points on the work permit system that relate to transfer fees, salaries, etc, and purely relying on how much you've played for your senior international team, which league you're coming from, how often you play for your club, etc. This would indeed make it harder to bring in foreign talent, particularly foreign young talent. However, there's one thing you're forgetting....

    That is the entire point

You may be able to bring in established internationals, but the times of English clubs being able to buy up any good 17-18 year old foreign players they want and getting a work permit because of the transfer fee and salary being high are over, and people are going to have to get used to it, the same way people get used to the restrictive non-EU player cap in Italy.

If you want to play in a country where you can just buy and bring in wonderkids from anywhere in the world without issues, you're going to have to manage a German team - no work permits at all there.

Totally agree with the points made here, but there is definitely an issue in the beta with how the work permits are being handed out, two quick examples of what I've come across at the end of the first season:

Luca Pellegrini: 35 Appearances for Genoa(on loan from Juve) in Serie A (a highly reputable league) - not qualifying for a work permit

Thiago Almada: 21 Appearances for Velez in the Primera division - qualifying for a work permit with no problems.

I have no issue with the work permits or the new brexit rules, but there is definitely an inconsistency with how its being applied at the moment. Has been raised in the bugs section:

Ok, apologies. Went off this - which showed different scenarios :

I think what that chap has done, is created a game, gone to rules and clicked on next season and that's exactly what the rules will show. Or screenshotted pre-brexit announcement.

What I've found is that the actual brexit rules don't show immediately when starting a game, they get added when they get announced (in-game). I've created around 10 saves so far just to test the rules, and the brexit scenario has been the same.

Having this exact problem at the end of the first season.

Was looking at the work permit rules whilst trying to sign Luca Pellegrini from Juve, he's played more than enough games in Serie A (35 league appearances for Genoa) to qualify for a work permit, but is being rejected. Assuming Serie A should also qualify as a high reputation league?

They also can't be registered for the league until 1st Jan.

Have also tried playing around with it, have offered extremely high wages/massive fee etc, doesn’t seem help with the work permit either.

  10. Finished my first season last night, finding the game really smooth, given it’s the beta I’m leaving the ultra realistic save for full release.

Managed to win the league(by a point) and the FA Cup double.

In terms of budget, adjusting the expectations to a top 4 finish and quarter finals of the CL should get you around £70m+. Also, once you’ve sold a few players you can move the wage budgets around a bit.

    First season moves:

Transfers in - (upfront + instalments)

    Jadon Sancho £80m (£55m + £25m)
    Frank Kessie £32m (£20m + £12m)
    Pau Torres £31m (£20m + £11m)
    Jerome Onguene £15m (£8m + £7m)
    Bernardeschi Loan

    Out:

    Rojo £8m
    Lingard £10m
    Matic £12m
    Mata £6m
    Romero £5m
    TFM £5m
    James loan
    Tuanzebe loan
Cancelled Ighalo loan to save wages

In hindsight, you could probably do without Onguene and push the boat out for Ndidi over Kessie if you wanted.

Can also post up the coaches I’ve got in to give 4.5/5* training?
