    Tamworth (h) (4/46)

We started reasonably well as Oche Balboa ran through the Tamworth defence and fired towards goal but the keeper saved well to deny him. On the 17th minute we had another chance to score as WLKRAS headed a Gavrenwick cross just over the crossbar. Seven minutes later Tamworth had their first chance as they sprinted onto a through-ball and fired towards goal but Daniel Evensen tipped the ball round the post. On the 43rd minute we had another chance to score as BenArsenal jinked in from the wing but his final effort went wide of the post.

The second half was eleven minutes old when I made a change as Mark Wilson27 came on for WLKRAS. On the 57th minute a lapse in concentration cost us as the whole defence failed to deal with a loose ball and D.Creaney slotted in under Daniel Evensen. Soon after they had another chance with a well worked team move which split the defence apart but the final effort went wide of the post. We had our next chance as Oche Balboa rose above the defence and headed a Mandy42 cross over the crossbar. Their was one final chance in the game as on the 89th minute Mark Wilson27 threaded the ball to Oche Balboa but he somehow missed from ten yards

    Brighton (h) (36/38)

After the way we were outplayed in the last game I told the players I wanted more and they gave me that with some great play. It took us till the 26th minute to open the scoring as D.Leonardi curled a wonderful free-kick into the top corner after J.Ashmeade was brought down on the way to goal. Six minutes later it was two nil as K.Jardine whipped a corner into the area and P.Lane headed past the Brighton keeper. On the stroke of half time we added a third goal as K.Jardine hit home into the top corner after beating the defence to a loose ball.

The second half was four minutes old when K.Jardine grabbed his second of the game and our fourth with a low effort at the keepers near post. We carried on the pressure and on the 73rd minute we made it five nil as J.Ashmeade headed in a corner to complete a brilliant performance

    August 12th:

    Southport (a) (3/46)

We never got started in the the game and on the 13th minute Lawlore was adjudge to have handled in the area for a penalty, J.Hmami stepped up and sent Daniel Evensen the wrong way. Ten minutes later they had another chance to score as they broke through the defence but their effort was as poor as our defending. On the 36th minute we had came close to losing another goal as Tikka Mezzala failed to deal with a simple ball but Daniel Evensen saved the day. With three minutes remaining in the half Southport scored again as T.Walton rounded Daniel Evensen and fired into the empty net after he failed to clear a Neilhoskins77 back-pass.

The second half was three minutes old when T.Walton grabbed his second of the game with a low effort which bobbled past Daniel Evensen. It got even worse on the 55th minute as T.Walton completed his hat-trick with a curling effort into the top corner which gave Daniel Evensen no chance of saving. On the 59th minute I made a double change as EvilDave and CFuller came on for Gavrenwick and Dalbeider. Ten minutes later we finally had our first chance as CFuller dance through the defence but failed to hit the target. With eleven minutes remaining on the clock I brought on Jrobertgordon13 for Daniel Evensen who had picked up what seemed to be a dead leg. On the 89th minute we managed to pull a goal back as O.Balboa ran onto a pass from Kennypavey and lashed the ball with power past the outstretched arms of the Southport keeper. A poor performance by everyone today.

OM (h) Champs Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

OM started the better and on the 13th minute they came close to scoring with a rasping effort from the edge of the area but K.Swaby tipped it over the crossbar. Soon after it was T.Franco who saved the day with a brilliant challenge just inside the area. We were all over the place and on the 34th minute T.Franco again timed his challenge to deny the OM attack. Just before the break it was our chance to be denied as J.Ashmeade ran into the area but his final effort was dire and it went well wide of the post.

The second half started much as the first with OM piling on the pressure and around the hour mark J.Smith cleared off the line after K.Swaby failed to deal with a simple shot. On the 69th minute we had our next chance as L.Guglielmi crossed into the area but M.Vandamme lashed the ball wide of the post. Ten minutes later OM were denied by the outstretched arm of K.Swaby. With seven minutes remaining OM opened the scoring as S.Edenfield diverted a D.Leonardi cross past his own keeper to give us an undeserved first leg lead

    Alfreton (h) (2/46)

We had the first chance of the game as WLKRAS ran through the defence and fired against the crossbar from close range. On the 19th minute we had another chance to score with Mark Wilson27 running in from the wing but his final effort went wide of the post. Ten minutes later Alfreton had their first chance as they broke through the defence but Sherm was on hand to block the effort. On the 31st minute Hockeybhoy was given a yellow card for a foul.

The second half was a different story as Alfreton came flying out the blocks and on the 57th minute they came close with a rasping effort which stung the fingers of Sherm. Five minutes later Sherm was helpless as L.Waldock curled the ball into the top corner. On the 65th minute I made a triple change as Tikka Mezzala, Gavrenwick and Oche Balboa all came on for Hockeybhoy, Leicester33 and Mark Wilson27. Twelve minutes later we had the next chance as Oche Balboa headed wide from a BenArsenal cross. With six minutes remaining a poor clearance by Dtown1414 was intercepted and J.Thewlis slotted in under Sherm to secure the three points for Alfreton

With a minute remaining in the half we took the lead as D.Leonardi hit a brilliant free-kick into the top corner after J.Ashmeade was brought down.

    August 5th:

Curzon Ashton (a) Vanarama National League North (1/46)

Our first competitive match and three minutes into it we had the referee to thank as he ruled out a Curzon goal after their attacker was deemed to have fouled Hockeybhoy71. On the 23rd minute we had our first chance to score with BenArsenal crossing into the area but Mark Wilson27 headed wide of the post. Eight minutes later WLKRAS came close with a long range effort which stung the fingers of the keeper. With six minutes remaining in the half Curzon came close with a well worked moved which was thwarted by Sherm.

The second half was two minutes old when we opened the scoring as Mark Wilson27 ran onto a WLKRAS through-ball and lashed the ball under the keeper. On the 55th minute I made a couple of changes as Copperhorse was replaced by Gavrenwick and Mark Wilson27 was replaced by Oche Balboa. Twelve minutes later Curzon had another chance to score with a curling effort which beat Sherm but no the crossbar. We had the next chance as Oche Balboa headed a BenArsenal cross straight into the keepers arms when it was easier to score. With four minutes remaining in the game our lack of finishing cost us as M.Storey levelled the scores with a thunderous effort which beat Sherm to his far post. Curzon had the chance to win the game but Dtown1414 managed to time his challenge perfectly in the area.

Soon after we came close to taking the lead as K.Jardine threaded the ball to the feet of O.Scherbakov who fired wide of the post.

The second half was all my side and just after the hour we took the lead we deserved as O.Scherbakov tapped in from close range after M.Khumalo's effort was parried by the keeper. Sunderland came straight for us and on the 9th minute they took the lead with a thunderous effort from L.Davies which gave K.Swaby little chance of saving. Four minutes later it got even worse as L.Davies pounced on an error by J.Smith and slotted in with ease. We were all over the place and on the 17th minute it was three nil as K.Goodwin curled in from outside the area. Sunderland were rampant and on the 35th minute they made it four as L.Davies completed his hat-trick with a low shot into the bottom corner of K.Swaby's net.

The second half wasn't much better as Sunderland dominated and we never got a touch of the ball. The only difference this half was that Sunderland were very wasteful and only scored the one goal as M.Adams completed the rout with a simple header . A very poor day at the office

The second leg was a lot more even with the play being in the middle of the pitch, however on the 23rd minute Dortmund took the lead as S.Muller curled in over K.Swaby to give him no chance. Ten minutes later we had our first chance as D.Leonardi ran through the defence with ease but his final effort was poor. Just before the half time interval we had our next chance as O.Scherbakov headed a M.Vandamme cross straight into the keepers arms.

The second half was thirteen minutes old when we levelled the scores as L.Guglielmi hit home with his first touch of the ball after coming on as a substitute. On the 62nd minute we took the lead as D.Leonardi ran onto the area unmarked and volleyed a L.Guglielmi cross into the top corner of the net. Dortmund piled on forward and on the 77th minute S.Muller curled the ball past K.Swaby but the upright saved the day. With three minutes remaining in the game we scored another goal as T.Franco head diverted a cross past K.Swaby for an own goal but luckily for us it was too little too late as we progressed

  17. March 31st:

Dortmund (a) Champs Cup ¼ Final 1st Leg

We controlled the first half with ease and on the 17th minute we had our first chance as K.Jardine curled the ball into the area but A.Grossi fluffed his effort. Soon after we had another chance as M.Arruabarrena hit the crossbar from twenty odd yards. It was too easy for us and on the 33rd minute K.Jardine had another chance with a long range effort but the Dortmund keeper was on hand to block the effort. Just before the break M.Vandamme was clear on goal but the Dortmund keeper saved bravely at his feet.

Four minutes into the half we finally broke the deadlock as S.Pino showed some great skill to beat the defence and wasted no time in giving us the lead. However after the goal Dortmund started to play and on the 57th minute they came close to scoring but J.Smith was alert enough to slide in and clear the ball. Ten minutes later J.Smith again saved the day with a wonderful block on the line after K.Swaby fluffed a save. With fourteen minutes remaining in the game Dortmund were reduced to ten men after M.Albusberger was sent off for a second yellow card. The tie is still very much in the balance

  20. March 27th:

    Arsenal (h) (32/38)

A cracking start saw us taking the lead on the 8th minute as D.Leonardi jinked through the defence and fired in past the Arsenal keeper who stood no chance. Six minutes later we had another chance as K.Jardine crossed into the area but A.Grossi fired just wide of the post. On the 20th minute we grabbed goal number two as D.Leonardi curled in from the outside of the area after the Arsenal defence kept on backing away from him. We carried on the pressure and just before the break K.Jardine had his next chance with a long range effort which the keeper tipped over the crossbar.

The second half started the same as we carried on the pressure and on the 58th minute we made it 3-0 as G.Mokulu headed home a free-kick from D.Leonardi. It was too easy for us or so we believed as Arsenal started to up the gears and on the 64th minute they had the chance to pull a goal back as A.Moinaro stepped up for a penalty but his strike went high and wide, However seven minutes later Arsenal grabbed a goal back as L.Ndiaye beat the defence with surprising ease and fired under K.Swaby. After a verbal rollocking from myself the players regained their composure and with nine minutes remaining in the game O.Scherbakov grabbed our fourth goal to secure the three points

    Man Utd 4-1 Arsenal D.Leonardi 8, 20, G.Mokulu 58, O.Scherbakov 81 / L.Ndiaye 71

    K.Swaby, L.King, T.Franco, J.Smith, P.Lane, M.Khumalo (G.Mokulu), M.Arruabarrena, D.Leonardi, M.Vandamme, K.Jardine (S.Pino), A.Grossi (O.Scherbakov)
