I really fancy a "sleeping giant" save this year - Ipswich have caught my eye!
I think the longest save I had on FM22 was 3-4 seasons as I just really couldn't get attached to any saves and didn't touch the game for about 3 months prior to the beta release.

Pavel Savitskiy - a name some will recognise from older versions. Still looks capable!

Lino - as above, another solid keeping option available for free at the start.

Phakamani Mahlambi - AMR/C - South African - Available on a free at the start of the game. Solid stats for mid-level Premier League sides.

@Kraake what's the reasoning for playing Partey ahead of Odegaard if you don't mind me asking?
As you're playing with both ball playing defenders and wing backs who are encouraged to overlap, I wouldn't feel comfortable setting my formation up like this without someone more defensively-minded sitting in front of them.
Plus you're playing with a higher defensive line, high counter press and counter attack which may be a factor in your defence being all over the place, particular if you get caught with too many players further forward or in the opposition's half.

I'm just in my second season now in my long term Salford save and first season I signed:
Rodel Richards - Free
Mark Helm - Loan
Viv Solomon-Otabor - Free
Ricky-Jade Jones - Loan
Demeaco Duhaney - Free
Rodel Richards finished the season as top scorer despite taking a little while to adjust and Mark Helm finished with around 20 assists in all competitions. I've also got Ricky-Jade Jones back on loan for my first season in League One and he's hit 7 in 6 so far.

Always wondered what actually held him back from taking that step into Europe. Was linked with plenty of the big sides in 2013/14 IIRC but nothing ever really materialised.

I do love it when these types of obscure players are in the game. On having a quick search around there is literally nothing about him other than a (probably) coincidental article about a Norwegian Peterborough fan!

Just came across a cracking looking player called Oier Luengo from Amorebieta.
23 year old CB/CDM with 17 for tackling.
Available on a free transfer as his contract has expired - well worth a look although may have some random stats!

For some reason this year I really fancied a City save as my first real long-term save.
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this before, but after getting rid of the aging players and deadwood, I attempted to approach Mbappe and got the option of speaking to the board (100% of the times I've done this before the answer has been no).
Anyway, they accepted and the deal was done pretty quickly. May be worth others here giving it a go - left me with no budget mind

So having just got back into the game following the latest update, I came across Marcos Remeseiro, who's out of contract at Bergantinos. Looks a very solid AMC and is willing to join League One clubs.

I remember desperately wanting to sign him last year on my long term Salford City save. Managed to unsettle him after PSG failed to win anything for a couple of seasons in a row whereas I was fresh from winning the Europa League and Champions League in successive seasons. He cost me a full seasons transfer budget on top of any money I had made through player sales but he was different class.
Then FM20 came out and I'm currently awaiting the transfer update so I can try again! I think it depends on your save and what your preferences are. I try and buy youth to develop with the odd 26+ year old here and there but I think he's a hard player to not want in your side given his quality.

Just found another Spanish gem in the lower leagues - Nacho Huertas who is at Villarrobledo. Very tidy looking left winger that I'll certainly be looking at bringing in, with his contract also expiring in 2020.

Currently has to be Rafel Obrador who I signed in the second season after being released by Real Madrid.
Running riot down the left wing currently for my Salford side, although wouldn't sign without a £1.4m release clause which I'm expecting to be triggered any day now!
