  1. I guess I'm still a little confused about this. I didn't do any specific editing in that location, but I did use the editor to set up a "No Brexit" game by editing the database. The file that seems to make those changes is an FMF file found in My Documents/.../.../editor data. When I go to start a new game, there is an option I can tick to select or deselect those changes. It is considered a "custom database" according to the game and tells me that I have to load the database before I could select a new team. Is that editing I've done included in my save file? Do I need to bring the FMF file to the laptop to play properly? I don't want to find out well down the line that I messed something up and have to revert back. I'm not interested in copying everything in the My Documents folder as I have several GBs of facepack files and the like. Come to think of it, I did add a real name fix in the game files, so maybe that's what you're referring to?
  2. I have an FM17 save where I edited the database to remove Brexit. I play the game on a desktop, but I'd also like to play it on my laptop. What do I need to do so that the game runs properly on both computers? Copy extra files? Edit the database on the laptop? I don't want to use the Steam Cloud.
  3. There are bugs with some lower league teams that they never seem to get into a league.
  4. Yeah, I try not to make any promises. The will develop player by giving him game time, league position, and will give player big pay raise seem the least likely to go bad. I've never looked at the stats beyond games, goals, assists, and rating, not even for my own players. I need to start doing that. Is there a consistency stat or do you just look at form? I didn't realize (not sure why) you could look at in-depth stats for all players. Do you have to scout them to get that info?
  5. I've looked at that. What type of result/rating do you look for? Players on AI teams generally have lower ratings. I just had Europe opened to scout, so it gets tough when you have players in unplayable leagues (ie. below Ligue 2) and are trying to compare them using history.
  6. As long as that's semi-normal. My players are young, so my team should improve naturally. You can sometimes find good released young players. The guy I sold for 1.5 million was released by Man City. My scouts said he had the potential to be a Prem LB, so I signed him and loaned him last season. This season I was offered 375k, asked for the 1.5, and got it. I'll just suck it up and try to stay up. Our stadium is still tiny by League 1 standards anyway. Just a bit frustrating to have money I can't spend to improve the team. I'll probably find slightly better players all season and end up with a squad of about 40 as I sign them bit by bit.
  7. I understand how the star system works. I use it to help me find players to look at their attributes. With so many players who are all around the same star rating, I don't feel like searching through them all for hours and hours for ones that are slightly better than what I have now. I want to find players considerably better and compare those. Looking through released players from quality teams is a good idea.
  8. We just got promoted. The new schedule just came out. Do I have to wait for the winter window?
  9. I could do that, but I'm a bit tired of studying attributes. I did find a 5-star player to bring in on loan, but he was a defender with 4 determination and they wanted 4k a week to loan him. The squad I have might be really good although I'm told none are League 1 players. We lost the League 2 title on goal differential, but we advanced deep in all of the other competitions. They are cups, but we beat a Prem team and a couple from the Championship. I can find some marginally better players, but I don't want to break my wage structure paying 4k a week.
  10. I'm playing an FC United save, and in our 4th season, we won promotion to League 1. The problem is that I can't find any players better than 3.5 stars. As my team is full of 3-3.5 star players, I can't find players to help me make the step up to League 1. They obviously exist, but they don't show up on my scouting reports. My team might be good enough to stay up, but with 20,000 in available wage budget (out of 40,000 total) and one million in transfer budget (sold a player for 1.5 million), I'd like to improve the team. Am I just stuck like this until my reputation catches up with League 1?
  11. The bug might just be the message. I paid 2.5k in transfer fees in that month and when he reaches 30 appearances, it says there is an additional 2.5k to pay. So perhaps I pay 2.5k at every landmark but the message just said 150k.
  12. That sounds crazy to me. How am I supposed to know that I could owe that kind of money? It also sounds like a terrible rule because it discourages other teams from signing the player. Reading brought him in for 75k before the 2013/14 season when he was 16. He went on loan for a year in the 2017/18 season and scored 26 goals in 32 games in the National League. The following year he didn't play at all, and then we signed him on a free. The clause triggered after 10 appearances in my first team. What about the 32 games he played on loan? If I assume the risk by signing him, it should be mentioned somewhere (I'm pretty sure it wasn't on the contract negotiation page), and a team wouldn't want to sign him if they could owe that kind of money. There's apparently a 2.5k payment after another a total of 30 appearances, but there still hasn't been any money leave the bank in spite of the fact the message says we "have paid" them. Edit: He's not on loan. We signed him from Reading on a free after they didn't renew his contract. I didn't see the edit, so I can see that the games in the National League don't count. I still don't get the rule. It protects the club, but it seems to hurt the player. He'll just be stuck in non-League football forever as he's good but not 150k pounds for a transfer good. If I will owe a bunch of money, it needs to show up on the contract offer page when I negotiate the contract. Of course, as I said, no money has left the club's finances. The link is to a file on your computer.
  13. So, I signed a player on a free from Reading. He's now played 10 league games and I got a message stating that my team (FC United) is paying Hull (the team Reading purchased him from) 150k pounds because of it? Is that a glitched message? I understand how playing for us could potentially trigger a clause, but how do we have to pay Hull? Is this an error? We haven't had that kind of money leave the club, so maybe Reading paid him? Can these clauses exist where I have to pay a team because of appearances or the like when I signed him from a different team on a free?
  14. It can only be learned through tutoring. There are a few that, for whatever reason, can't be taught.
