  1. Apologies if this has already been mentioned or requested.

Ive just finished my 3rd season, in that time I've gained 2 promotions and then proceeded to finish Mid table in the Premier league and accumulated some £90mil in the bank and survived in the prem with a wage budget of some £350k a week. My main gripe is throughout my 3 years i've not had 1 job offer, not even a rumour of a job offer. I feel if you've gained back to back promotions and stayed in the Premier League and made the club alot of money then a number of clubs would be interested in obtaining my services but alas nothing has happened. It would be a good feature if Managers got more press coverage for over performing and asked about their own personal ambitions with regular links towards other clubs/countries.

I'd also add I think the game would really benefit from Manager attributes being far more dynamic adjusting to how well you are managing, yes the characteristics change but why not the attributes? surely i'd be learning more skills or judged on how im working with youngsters attribute by how much im using them or improving them. My motivating attribute dictated by how well my team talks have an affect (if i consistently pick a bad half time team talk action then decrease my attributes aoccordingly). My individual coaching attributes affected by how much i focus on different areas in training. If ive mismanaged players and not got the best out of them then reduce my people management stat.

Well was just a couple of thoughts with regards to my game save so far that I feel could have improved my experience.

  2. I started my first Newcastle save and had a really good first season finishing 5th, I was a comfortable 3rd in March but a really bad run of form meant the Europa League it is now. Saint-Maximin had a epic season and won the divisions young player of the year, now to build an attack around him. 3 transfers I brought in for the first season were Ajer, Kenneh and Almada (January).

Im getting ready to completely dismantle the squad and sell 3/4 of it to replace with largely high potential players and make Newcastle an exciting team. Only looking for a top 10 finish for the 2nd season, fullbacks and a striker are the problem area.

You like to develop the youngsters, what's your opinion on Millar, Stewart, Brookwell and Norris?

Millar does well, but its hard to push him over Brewster and Curtis, so tend to loan him out for a couple of seasons and then cash in, but £20-30mil bids i've taken for him usually. Its all about when you sell though, if you try to push them out the door you can struggle to get £10mil sometimes.

Never had much luck with Stewart, don't know if his stats are random but I cant play strikers with bad finishing i rather give Glatzel and Longstaff games. Brookwell and Norris not so much for me and havent really looked at, Cain isn't too bad though and versatile. Kane is the other obvious guy in the u23s that can easily be a solid prem player.

  4. Liverpool are soo good this year that its been a struggle to stay motivated during saves. In my last 2 saves I've had good fun with self imposed restrictions. I can never offer more than 200k a week for a player, my wage expenditure can never be above 4th in the league (the lower the better)I have to make a profit every transfer window and my match day squad has to have 3 homegrown products or under 18s in it every match, this increases by 2 in each of the first 3 seasons so in season 2 it has be 5 players and season 3 it has to be 7 players.

Although the Liverpool youth arent ranked particularly well by the coaches and dont have amazing stats, ive found with a little nurturing and game time they can be high end premier league players. I think Clarkson is my personal favourite little project, the boy just sprays it round the pitch Alonso style in my last saves. It was very satisfying having Man City bid £80mil for him season 4. Neco Williams and Adam Lewis can turn into fullback assist machines,in one season when they were both backups they each got into double figures with assists with Neco in particular having his value rise to £50mil plus 3 or 4 seasons in. Hoever, Jones and Elliot are just excellent cover options for multiple positions and Brewster given half the chance can turn into a goal machine. I've noticed that all of my strikers regardless of who they are having taken a good 2 seasons to start firing but when they do its 30/40 a season.

If youre looking for a cheap playmaker Almada always turns into a star, Stergiou is a fun centre back to develop and of course Bellingham is another i always try and buy end of season 1. First day transfers try and get Kenneh and Hlozek to flesh out the youth team squads cheap. Almada, Hlozek and Stergiou you can just loan out for 3 seasons and they turn into £50-70mil players if you get the loans right.

    thanks mate

no probs, I dont think its anything revolutionary. I definitely want to create a new more original tactic in a couple of seasons when the current main stays have gone. To be honest, i got lucky with my early fixtures being very winnable. I didn't play any big team until my 10th game and by that stage all of my players were high in confidence and in form, once you get some momentum in this years FM it just seems to go on and on.  Im sure if I played the big teams early it would have been a bit different.

any tips on tactics then? :)

I have 3, all very similar. Start off with the first, if we go behind or aren't creating I go to the 2nd with the gen gen press. I've only used the 3rd once and that was a 3-0 away win at City where the counter attacking just destroyed them. I expect i'll use the 3rd in the away CL knockout ties. I always used to rotate a lot, every other game used to get 4/5 changes now its more like 1/2 and give them rests for the league cup and the odd CL games. Though Burnley did just beat my reserves on penalties in the league cup quarters. I used to do a lot of individual instructions too, especially to Trent, Mane and Salah and well it just isn't needed, their natural traits take over they don't need too many instructions, think i'll have to tinker with Mane though, he started off on fire but now gone off the boil...Anyways the tactics that have worked so far

  7. Finally got a tactic sorted on how i wanted the team to play, rather frustratingly Firmino is my top scorer with 13 in 19 matches after never being to get him to perform on previous saves. His form coming just after spending £70mil on Martinez.  All of the attackers scoring so now not relying on Henderson thunderbolts.

Only conceded 3 goals going into January in the league. There's only been 2 matches Liverpool hasn't won and both were to Salzburg who i very much underestimated with squad rotation!

With Tottenhams terrible form im really trying to resist going for Kane as I dont need him, but im tempted to unsettle him over the next few months for a summer bid.

looks promising and getting good attacking ratings, let me know how it goes.

What i found weird with the gen gen press was when they came in Shaqiri & Origi were getting far more goals and assists than my main front men so it didn't really feel like too much was wrong the tactics.

ı played a half season and firmino scored just 1  gegenpress 4141 ıs not workıng anymore maybe ı dont know ı play that  and doest work ıt used to be.ı wıll start a new save now

same fomatiion and approach as me, maybe tiki taka is the way to go, but im not really a fan of it as all the goals look very similar.

I had the exact same problem with Firmino, i stuck Salah on penalties to try and get his numbers up but he missed 4 in row so its Milner or Fabinho for that.

  10. finally getting round to playing this years game. I had a great start to the season but it just isnt realistic so restarting. My front 3 had 7 goals between them coming into December whilst Henderson was on 12 alone, Gomez and Robertson approaching double figures. Anyone else have this problem of the strikeforce not scoring yet others are profilic?

Also what do you guys do with training, i've just left it to my assistant should I be more involved to help get my tactics working?
