It comes down to this. Glory and heartbreak are uncomfortable bedfellows and inspire ordinary men to do extraordinary things. They are forced together, bound to one another while being pulled in opposite directions - each needs the other to fulfil their destiny but cannot achieve it alone. One creates the other and is destroyed by that creation as it has always been - an eternal struggle, each needing to dominate, while denying the other, which cannot be denied.
Anyway, it's the semi-finals and if you all marvelled at the bonuses on offer in the quarter finals, prepare to be even more marvellousnessed (yeah, it did get away from me a bit).
Whopping bonuses as well!! fun for everyone and anyone can win.

Scoring

Because I actually predicted 10 goals across the games but wrote it as 9 in the bonuses.
Blimey! actually your bonus score was 110 for a total of 294. I will correct it in the next update.

It's not 50 - it's 60 points! 10 additional points for being within the range of the first goal scored.

Looks a lot like moving day to me!! Of those who entered, everybody moved and there were huge changes in the table - as we hoped for. The actual round scores were pretty immaterial and would have made virtually no difference to the table but as you know by now - it is all about the bonuses and did they deliver!
A quick word on the yellow cards. There was a lot of confusion on the number of yellow cards shown at the Netherlands v Argentina game and there were numbers ranging from 18 to 23 cards in some of the data sources. Due to the uncertainty and the inability of the main sources to agree, I have discounted the number of yellows shown in that game as we cannot reach an accurate figure.
Nobody predicted the exact games going to extra time and nobody predicted Croatia to beat Brazil - why would you? The England game was pretty even with slightly more correctly predicting that France would go through and 2-1 to France was the highest scoring game.
The bonuses have swung the table into disarray and disorder with our new top four catapulting up the table due to some whopping bonuses.
Pride of place goes to our friend Oriole!!!!, who climbs a huge 13 places to claim top spot. Very well done to him for a magnificent effort and pulling off a big move. He also scores the biggest bonus score of the round. He becomes our new beloved, sagacious and revered leader and we will take a greater interest in everything he says over the next few days.
Other big climbers include VP who climbs 14 to claim second spot, which is an outstanding achievement - very well done. The Old Git moves up to complete the podium places in third. I am sure he will be delighted when he wakes up from his doze - someone slip a celebratory Werther's Original in his cocoa tonight.
Seb revs up that Ferrari to accelerate into fourth with a huge leap of 14, which is also an achievement that deserves great merit - keep motoring on Seb!
Craigy comes in at fifth with another mighty leap and this is great reward for him for superb bonus scoring.
As a consequence of the moves at the top, Gizzgoggles drops a not disastrous three places thanks to a decent bonuses score.
Hoarau climbs an impressive 10 places to secure seventh place, helped enormously by being the only one to correctly guess the total number of subs, which carried a whopping 200 points bonus. YouReds climbs three to eighth, Darius drops five to ninth, while The Legend makes his move, climbing a huge 15 places to complete our top ten - very well done to all of them.
Just outside the top ten, Smoulders drops five and GunmaN falls ten to drop out of the top ten. Then we have Constantine. Special mention for him as he is our top mover this round - rising a super impressive 19, I'll say it again...19 places!! Great effort.
Jeroen nearly matches him with a spectacular rise of 16 places. Rob falls an acceptable six places, although he will be disappointed, Lucas also drops six but will be thankful for a reasonable bonus score.
Our previous round winner and beloved leader Smallen doesn't move a small(en) number of places, he moves a huge 16 places in the wrong direction!!! Disaster for him as he is one of only three players not to score any bonus points.
Coming the other way to meet him, Orzelek rises a more than handy nine places, while The Golden Boy and prediction league brother Pompers both fall a disappointing seven places, despite reasonable bonus scores. The Golden Boy is one of two players to benefit from the ruling on yellow cards and winning the bonus points.
Vikie bucks the mini trend above him by rising two places but Wallin and Caffers fall one and eight places respectively.
Will also benefitted from the rule change on yellows and rises four places as a result.
Mahzun and I fall a pretty steep 18 places mainly due to poor bonuses scores, while Avers drops a disappointing seven places and the inspiration and mentor drops two places!!!! Fullers drops six places as one of the three not to score any bonuses points. Chris rises a decent three places, while Whoops a daisy drops seven places and is the third player not to score bonus points.
That leaves us with the non entrants this round. the hall of shame consists of Henrik, Symbolic, Sysiphus, Oche, Tecmo, Silence of the German, Marvin and pafnus.
Come back guys - we miss you and there is a plenty of time and certainly plenty of bonus points to go!

It's the quarter finals and super points are available across the games and the bonuses...well, just look at the bonuses. Bonuses, bonuses, bonuses!! You can almost forget the games themselves - they won't generate very many points - it's the bonuses that count!! 1,800 bonus points up for grabs - not bad, eh?
