  1. Have you not watched the advert with Roy Keane? They clearly go through the turnstiles.
  2. Willoughby seems to be the one taking most of the flak. Could be because she’s a woman but also could be because Schofield has kept his mouth shut while she keeps digging a deeper hole trying to defend herself.
  3. Not sure what exactly she’s spoken to lawyers about. It doesn’t seem that she’s likely to be sacked and I don’t recall any newspapers or media outlets making libellous or slanderous comments so unless she’s planning on suing the thousands of people having a pop on twitter I don’t see what legal advice she’s seeking.
  4. At least they weren’t pumping in sounds of mourners mourning. Or were they?
  5. For someone who did it have any interest I had a great day. Went out for a drive (roads were empty) then for a long walk along the beach. It was quieter than normal as expected but there were still plenty of people out who had decided to make the most of the day (the nice weather helped). One cafe was open on the seafront and the owner had posted online apologising if anyone was offended that they were open, but said she couldn’t afford to lose a day’s trade. Seemed to be a good plan as people were queuing out the door due to everywhere else being shut. Picked up some pizzas on the way home, although had to wait a while as they were really busy due to being the only place open. Cut the grass on the afternoon. Tried to see if we could get some petrol but even the self-serve pumps were closed. My wife went to Asda later on for petrol and some bread and milk and said it was bedlam, as if it had been closed for weeks. Watched a movie in the evening and finally turned on the TV for the first time after 9pm. The only reference to their funeral was both Film4 and the Horror Channel having a tribute page instead of adverts. I know loads of people online were moaning about it being shoved down your throat but it was easily avoidable if you didn’t want to watch anything. I certainly appreciated the day off.
  6. Watching World War Z on Film4 and they’re not showing commercials as a sign of respect. A film about the zombie apocalypse is fine but an advert about car insurance is just going too far.
  7. I haven’t turned the TV on and am about to go out for the day. I don’t mind if people want to watch it, but find it odd the amount of people doing so who are just moaning about it.
  8. Do the adult channels even show their stuff during the day? Would have thought they were running infomercials or something.
  9. Andrew’s been seen in military uniform? Someone’s going to be triggered.
  10. They should wait until the next time the King happens to be in the neighbourhood.
  11. It’s not really any different to any other event you need to queue for. Taking a flight, entering a football ground, going to a concert, going up the Eiffel Tower or seeing the Mona Lisa. You just need to decide whether the end justifies the waiting. Personally I wouldn’t wait that long but don’t see an issue if people feel it’s justified.
  12. Just wait until ISP’s announce they’re blocking access to all sites apart from select ones streaming the funeral.
  13. I might write to Sky demanding a refund for the programming I’m paying money for that they’re withdrawing. I need that £2.63.
  14. The cynic in me says people are starting to make up outlandish signs cancelling stuff for internet cred, a bit like the anti work stuff. I’m pretty sure if I typed up a notice saying that the pedestrian crossing was unavailable as a sign of respect and posted a photo of it online people would lap it up without questioning it.
  15. I think we’re going to take a drive and then go for a long walk along the beach with the dog. Guessing things will be a lot quieter.
  16. Dominos are closed until after the ceremony at 12pm while McDonalds are opening at 5pm, so I guess burger eaters just need that extra mourning time.
  17. McDonald's is to close all of its UK restaurants on Monday 19 September, as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her funeral.
  18. Yeah that contract basically says that your entitled leave doesn’t include bank holidays so they’re trying it on. What did they do for the additional day we got for the Jubilee? Wasn’t that long ago.
  19. I’m hoping some places will remain open so we have something to do. For the last royal wedding we went out to a restaurant for lunch and were the only customers in there. Was great.
  20. The weather’s been cancelled so they don’t know if it’s going to rain.
  21. Mine as well. Great North Run goes ahead as a ‘fitting tribute’ but kids’ football matches cancelled as a ‘mark of respect’. Madness.
