  1. He didn't make the England 2018 squad in my save and is in the Man Utd U21 squad. He is 32 by then though...
  2. London clubs can attract better players than teams based in other parts of the country.
  3. I've copied in it there. Just wondered whether any guys here had the same issue? Or been promoted with a standing section and not had any fans in that stand? Looks funny when I play my games. Though it's where I watch from in real life, it may be one of the coldest places on Earth.
  4. I wouldn't say broken, but there's massive scope for improvement. There just needs to be more things to say. When someone comes to you and says they want more football unless you want to get rid of them you can only say a few things - promise them football, say someone is playing 'the form of their life', or say be patient and they'll be time over the season. If you use the latter two and the player disagrees you either have to give in and say you'll play them, question them by saying they're being over the top, or agree to sell them. I'd like some more options, tailored to the type of player asking. Playing last night I had my 31 yr old, 3rd choice centre mid ask me for more playing time. I told him there were plenty more games and to be patient (it's Feb, so technically true), and he kicked off and said he was going to leave. I said is this all in the heat of the moment and he came back with I want to see. The last thing I could say was, "I've got no choice but to let you leave." And that's an issue, I had no choice, I didn't click on it and left the conversation. A few days later the player said he was considering leaving at the end of the season when his contract expires. I didn't want that situation, but I didn't really have much option. I'm not going to say I'm going to give him football, because he's 3rd choice for a reason. And saying there are plenty of games left was true, there are. But he didn't accept that, and once he didn't there were no options for me to go. In this instance I would have liked to have said something like 'we've got a lot of games coming up, you'll be playing some and coming on in others.' 'I need a squad at this moment, and you're a part of that.' And then when he made his contract threat, 'I don't see you as a first team regular but I'd like to use your experience in the squad.' 'You can be a role model to the younger players.' 'There's potentially a coaching position for you here' etc.
  5. Apologies if someone has covered this, just wanted some advice... I'm playing as Peterborough and got promoted to the Championship, all well and good. Peterborough currently having standing behind one of the goals at their stadium, and I believe I'm right in thinking that in the Championship you get 3 seasons where you're allowed this and then after those 3 seasons all stands have to be seating or they're not used. As Peterborough have already had 3 seasons in the Championship with the standing terrace, their next promotion (my one in the game) would mean that they would need to change this terrace to seats or the stand can't be used. This is happening in my game, in League matches the stand is completely empty. In cup games it has fans. This is fine, it's how it should be. Except, and this being the big point here, on my facilities page, it says my stadium is a 14000 All Seater. It's not an All Seater! And to make matters worse, I know Peterborough don't own their stadium (I'm a fan of the Posh), and so in the Board requests page I can only ask to build a new stadium or buy one. I can't ask to improve it. I asked to build a new stadium but they said no. I'm now in my third season in the Championship. Is the statement of an All Seater, when it's clearly not, an error? Has anyone else had this issue?
  6. I posted this somewhere else, not knowing about this thread:- I'm playing as Peterborough and got promoted to the Championship, all well and good. 8. Where is the screen that gives the player description such as Wonderkid, Flamboyant Winger, Promising Attacking Midfielder etc? I can't seem to find it on the new game.
  9. In that save my stadium got upgraded to the 23k all seater like yours. I then got told they were building a new stadium and I would ground-sharing with Leicester for a season. I'm not sure what year that was, but I think it was my 4th season in the Prem. Posh don't own the stadium in real life, it's leased from the council. There's a new stand almost completed behind the goal where the away fans used to stand. I think that was jointly paid for by the council and the club.
  10. This is the formation I'm using at the moment, though on FM14. I've found that if I want to be a bit more defensive I instruct the AMC's to mark the opposition full backs. I've only been doing it for a about 6 games, but it seemed to work. Brought me out of my slump and made me finish strongly at the end of the season. It's tricky though, and I'm not sure if what I'm doing is counter acting my other instructions. I set them up like this:- AMC - Advanced Playmaker, Attack. Player instructions to Close Down More, Roam From Position, Specific Marking (opposition DR) AMC - Attacking Midfielder, Attack. Player instructions to Close Down More, Specific Marking (opposition DL) So I have them both on attacking, one as the playmaker getting on the ball and looking for passes and shots, and the other as an attacking midfielder, hopefully making runs into the box and getting on the end of chances. But then (and I'm hoping this is what my instructions are telling them), when I lose the ball they go defend against the opposition full backs.
  11. I think it was the difference between being a 3.5 Star and a 3 Star. I have a young Anchor Man coming through and interest in the Ball Winning Midfielder so may make the switch anyway. This thread has been a bit of an eye-opener, I've rarely played with wingers on any format of the game, and actually stopped playing for over a year. So to see how to work in a diamond formation on the new tactics has been a great help.
  12. I play without width in a 4-1-2-2-1 formation where the last '2' are 2 AMC's rather than AM R/L. Last night I was experimenting with having these 2 AMC's specifically mark the opposition full backs, so I set their individual instructions to this. During every game my assistant has said:- 'Player X keeps getting dragged away from his position due to his instruction to specifically mark Player Y' That's the idea! Defensively I want him to do that, and then his attacking instructions (AP attack for one and AM attack for the other, with roam from position) will get them to go to the positions I want them when I have the ball.
  13. My DM is a ball winning midfielder at the moment, that's his best description. I do have a good anchor man coming through though, so I may change to him shortly. On WB automatic, the don't seem to score many, but they do get forward a lot and provide the width that I don't have. As I mentioned, I have 2 AMC's and 1 STC rather than 2 STC's and 1 AMC. Last night I experimented with telling my 2 AMC's to specifically mark the opposition full backs, and it made me a lot more solid defensively. Could be a slight adaption for this diamond if you are playing a team who are higher ranked? I didn't lose any of the goal threat either, one is AP attack and the other is AM attack.
  14. I play pretty similar to this apart from instead of having 2 strikers, I have 2 AMC's behind one striker. It's an interesting read because I seem to be drawing a lot of games at the moment, so I'm tempted to push one of the AM's forward because he can also play up top. I've never been brave enough to have the DL and DR as CWB's though, I have them as just WB on automatic. Bit of a cop out, but as most people have mentioned with the diamond, the flanks are where this formation can be exposed, and I was wary of them being too far forward all of the time. I also have the DM as a BWM on defend and the two MC's as DLP support and B2B support. The higher defensive line is something that I've tried with mixed results, though I never played it with the offside trap as well, which is where I might have been going wrong. My big thing on using this formation (or my slight tweak) is that in theory you can overload the centre of the pitch, which seems to be how most of the successful real life teams play at the moment, and in theory control the game from there.
  15. I'm not a fan of wingers. I prefer my width to come from the full backs, which I have set to automatic. I see the point about the runners though. I've tweaked my tactic for the new season now. Last season it was:- 2 DLP's at MC on support and 2 AP's at AMC on attack, the width coming from the DL and DR as wing backs on automatic, and my striker set as a poacher. I figured he would be the one to profit from all of those playmakers! This was either Walcott or Benteke, and wasn't a great success. Going into my new season, I've kept the DL and DR as they were, changed one of the MC to DLP on defend, changed one of the AMC to an AM on attack and then changed the striker to an advanced forward. I've also changed retain possession to shorter passing as well. And bought Balotelli, which is a upgrade on Walcott/Benteke.
