Obvious overrated teams that should be nerfed:

    • Leeds - 10th. Bielsa is clearly a brilliant manager but honestly is their squad THAT good? Admittedly I haven't watched a whole lot of Leeds, but a large number of their players look OP in game. Is their squad really better than the likes of West Ham (11th) and Aston Villa (14th)? They are 15th now and have looked quite poor the last few games. As a team that has only just been promoted after years in the Championship I don't feel like they have a top 10 squad.

To the best of my knowledge, 10th is an in-game media prediction and not necessarily indicative of the raw research.

Citing positions in the real life table now is a dead-end, only 8 games have been played. Leeds are 15th, were recently 5th and are three points off 7th. We have played both Liverpool and City in this time.

If anything, I believe I have been harsh on the Leeds team rather than generous - I would encourage you to check the posts in here regarding Leeds from others and in turn my responses. If you were to compare our squad with FM20, you will not see many significant improvements. Some of the better players by CA have been signed this Summer and whilst they are now under my jurisdiction I have not had enough exposure to them to make serious changes, up or down.

I think you say it yourself, you "haven't watched a whole lot of Leeds". Our recent results certainly suggest a poor team, but I would urge you to look further. Worth noting we beat Aston Villa (14th) 3-0.

    Robin Koch
He played an fantastic last season with Freiburg and shows slowly why he deserves to be a part of the German Nationalteam. But i feel like in the Game he is way too bad to get even nominated for Germany. In Freiburg he showed that he got very good mental stats so basiclly would push some of those if you need exactly ask me which ones then i can write it to you :)

Thanks for your input @PlayStrox - please feel free to drop me a line about Koch, and I will pass it on to our Leeds researcher.

Robin Koch is currently our second best centre back in terms of CA, behind Diego Llorente. Both those players have had their research done by the German and Spanish researchers respectively, something I would like to stay largely faithful to for now as they will have had much greater exposure to the players than me.

I have made some very small changes to Koch in the time he has been with Leeds to ensure that he is correctly considered by the AI, but I do think he is generally well represented. It is clear that he has quality, but he has also been solely responsible for a number of the goals we have conceded this season. Mistakes that, if consistent, would suggest his Mentals are not the strongest part of his game. I would like to reserve any further judgement until I have seen him play more than a handful of matches.

How are shouts working for others so far during matches? I can't seem to get anything other than encourage (when behind or drawing) or praise to give a positive result. demand more, focus etc all seem to get negative reactions

That may be indicative of the personalities you have on your team. The way players react to shouts is governed by a number of factors, including but not limited to their personalities and the current match situation.

Do I start this player or not?

Common sense would, of course, say no. He's injured. Why then does he have a full green heart and 'fresh' fatigue levels? If you ignore the injury, all that would tell you is he's lacking some match sharpness.

These little icons might be more 'realistic' than the percentages, but it seems there's a lot of work still to be done in how they actually function. It's making team selection more confusing.

Have you posted this in the bugs area? If not, could you do so please - https://community.sigames.com/forum/803-user-interface/

  5. A gentle but firm reminder that this is the feedback thread.

We love hearing your feedback, be it positive, constructive criticism or simply meme.

However, please do not post bugs in here. If you want it fixed, it needs to be posted in here - https://community.sigames.com/forum/770-football-manager-2021-early-access-beta-bugs-forum/

    "Has anyone else noticed..."

    "This weird thing just happened..."

    "This looks silly..."

All of those are probably bugs and we can only resolve them if you let us know in the correct place.

Separately, I'm getting a lot of injuries to my key forwards.  I've brought them up to full fitness/sharpness, but all of my wide forwards have gone down with groin strains even when I'm managing their gametime.  Might be tactics, might be the game's balance (its the kind of thing we've seen before in the early release versions, so thought I'd mention in case you've seen a lot of this).

I'd be willing to put my neck on the line and say injuries are functioning as intended. This will likely be down to the players themselves, how you're managing them or simply luck.

This is one of the worst aspects of the new UI.

Have to pause the match, turn up my brightness, squint, THEN I can see where the opposition attacks from! Its the same story for the other menus if either team wears a dark kit, add something to differentiate it please. Such a small thing makes a big difference.

If you could grab that example and post it here please - https://community.sigames.com/forum/803-user-interface/ - we can investigate amending it.

Why would Baba Rahman and to a lesser extent, Danny Drinkwater and Andreas Christensen, be influential members of the Chelsea squad?
Also, Kai Havertz is listed under other players whislt all other summer signings are influential members? Is this normal?

    Leeds United:

I'm just typing as I go through this so apologies for the...carelessness...of how it's formatted.

Other rivals listed: I can see Sheffield Wednesday, Bradford, Sheffield United and Huddersfield listed as local rivals. They are local games but I'd only really class Bradford as a local rival or rather, as one of the local rivals Leeds class as a rival. Huddersfield is very much a case of them hating us and us...having no idea why (!) and not caring about them, Wednesday is a game with a bit more of an edge to it but I don't think many Leeds fans would class them as a rival as such and Sheffield United, there's never really been a rivalry other than a competitive rivalry for a few games in Bielsa's first season. I suppose it does come down to your interpretation of it all - for me they, Bradford aside, are local games rather than local rivals. I'd also dispute Derby being listed as a historic rival. Barring the molehill that was made into a mountain by the media (Spygate) and Lampard celebrating a play-off final win more than the birth of his kids, there's no real needle there. They fall into that sort of weird...chasm...with other teams that try and drag us into having a rivalry with them when really, we don't feel it back, they were just the obstacle fate handed to us in our quest for promotion.

Listed Icons: John Lukic and Ian Harte aren't really classed as icons. Icons is generally seen as a step down from Legends and I don't think they're revered enough at Elland Road. Giles, Clarke, Strachan and the others all fall into that category but those two just don't. In fact, Harte has had a number of spats with fans over him trying to change the culture in the youth side as he's an agent and has/has had a few players within those youth teams that are on his books. Suggestions: Pablo Hernandez (upgraded from favoured personnel), Nigel Martyn, Tony Yeboah, Bobby Collins.

Number of Season Ticket holders: needs to change from 18,250 to 23,000 - as per the club's Season Ticket FAQ - https://www.leedsunited.com/seasontickets/faq

Liam Cooper information: It's got him down as a Leeds supporter. However, this was looked into by a Hull fan as he'd made a similar claim there: https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liam-cooper-makes-more-leeds-4036935

    Abilities:

Ayling - Composure, First Touch, Passing all to be boosted by 1? He's rarely troubled on that right hand side, gets forward constantly, has always looked competent in possession since being here and formed brilliant link ups on the right with Hernandez over the last few seasons.

Struijk - Personality to change to - if there is one - quiet? Phil Hay from The Athletic noted him as a quiet type in an article he did on him and you can see he's a bit shy in his demeanour.

Dallas - Composure definitely needs boosting, he's another that never appears troubled. I'd say his passing and first touch could do with reviewing and perhaps his agility too.

Phillips - Composure also needs a boost. He's the key part of the team, takes on so much and very rarely does he appear to suffer with it. I'd perhaps say the same about his positioning too - he's always in the right place at the right time.

Klich - Concentration and Decisions to be boosted by 1? His role is vital as he takes on such a wide variety of different on-field tasks and is constantly having to be switched on. Never really looks like he drifts out of game and is always one that appears to make the right decisions.

Harrison - Concentration to be boosted by 2? I've watched him over the past few seasons and he picks up a lot of defensive work whether that's pressing the opposition high or getting back to help out or whether it's him constantly being an option to receive the ball and being ready to create a focus to distract an opposition player and allow space for an overload. He works his cojones off and is dedicated to his role in the team.

Bamford - Composure to be boosted? I know he's had his moments over the last few seasons but he's started this season like a house on fire and that's no fluke.

I'd also maybe change the expectation this season to either a bottom-half finish or avoid relegation. I know after 16 years away from the PL we don't want to end up trying to get into it again and the expectation among many is to avoid relegation and see what happens from there.

Happy to discuss these further - that's literally all I can see from going through things so well done to whoever did the Leeds details etc.

Missed this one before now, apologies.

Some changes have been made since, see how these are when you get them

A number of the attributes changes you suggest here have not been made, although there are some tweaks made after considering this, other feedback and the roles we need these players to perform. Generally, you seem to be arguing for a better squad and specifically better Composure. I'm content with where these are pitched currently, and whilst I acknowledge I can sometimes be a relatively harsh researcher, perhaps we just have some subjective differences here as we don't seem criminally far apart in our assessments?

On the Icons - Harte is actually rated lower than Pablo but because he is "permanent" he is coming out as an Icon to Pablo's Favoured. I've not made Hernandez permanent as there should be room for him to do something in the future that changes how Leeds fans feel about him. To better reflect Harte, I have also removed his permanent status. Additionally, for your reference Lukic is 14, Strachan 15, Clarke 16 and Giles 19.

Kev has missed 2 pens for me already this season and spends a lot of time injured.

    10/10 realism, would buy again.

On a serious note, I'm seeing a greater prevalence of goals where the goalkeeper or defender tries to clear the ball and it hits and attacker and rebounds in.  I have a match saved where the Ajax keeper kicked it out of his hands right at Aguero and it deflected in.  It's happened three times in about 20 games or so.  Worth a bug report or is that pretty much average?

Worth posting up here, especially if you are able to provide that saved match - https://community.sigames.com/forum/776-match-engine-ai-and-tactics/ - even if it just means we can investigate and confirm it to be occurring at an expected rate.

@Seb Wassell, is there any reason why we can't access the tactics screen from the half time analysis view? You need to go to the dressing room to access tactics and by that point, you can't get back to the analysis screen. I like to be able to pinpoint areas to tweak, but I'm now having to note them manually as I can't flip between analysis and tactics. (I also concede I may be missing something obvious)

Worth posting that here - https://community.sigames.com/forum/803-user-interface/ - being able to access the analysis from the HT Tactics page seems sensible.

@Dagenham_Dave Having just checked with the team, this is on our radar already

  12. There are a number of pieces of advice, analysis and stats available during the match, mostly contained under the Touchline Tablet, that a manager has access to in-play, but some of the most powerful tools are not accessible until certain points. This change was made to better recreate what a real manager would have available on match day and bring you closer to that experience.

To answer OP specifically, items such as Average Position are contained within the Chalkboard, which is now only available at Half and Full Time. Select the "Analysis" and "Stats" buttons during the Half or Full Time summaries to see the most detailed breakdowns.

We welcome feedback on this and the Match Day Experience as a whole, but we also acknowledge that change can sometimes simply take getting used to.

Please post any specific issues with, for example, the Touchline Tablet in their own separate threads in our bugs section - https://community.sigames.com/forum/770-football-manager-2021-early-access-beta-bugs-forum/

Just noticed De Bruyne, still basically has the same attributes as last season as well. Surely he should have been upgraded? His Strength, Passing, finishing, composure & dribbling stand out as being too low.

If I recall, KDB is the 3rd highest rated player in the entire game. Doesn't mean you're not right, but worth considering. Please post any data issues, crucially with solid evidence, here -

That's a fair point and I understand it completely. Will take some getting used to, but I'll get there.

However, I also hope you see how such tooltips where the true meaning is hidden in some abstract descriptions could be hard to understand for people whose first language isn't English.

...or maybe I'm just bad at socializing. :(

We do localise these for each language that the game supports. That certainly doesn't mean they'll be perfect - and please do post imperfect examples for us in the bugs area - but it should help :)

  15. 8 minutes ago, Zemahh said:

Could be just me, but the tooltip doesn't add much clarity at all. I feel they could include more keywords such as "calmly", "aggressively", "passionately" etc., rather than tell me that an Outstretched Arms gesture will make me outstretch my arms. I end up not bothering with gestures at all, because having to slow down my workflow significantly to actually have a think about which gesture to use, just isn't my cup of tea. I know it's not that difficult, but text descriptions were much more intuitive and easier to understand (especially for non-English speakers). There's a thin line between making something more immersive and making it a chore.

We deliberately avoided using such adjectives so as to not confuse them with the old Tone system, which operated quite differently.

There are some keywords included in the description to help guide you when deciding how to act, such as "spread open arms wide in a disarming manner".

Is it just me or do shouts seem to have a more instant and clear effect on the team?

Indeed! We haven't just refreshed the list, we've reworked the reactions under the hood.

    • Automatically show the expected opposition formation prematch. The teamsheet looks great but it would be good if that section cycled between both graphics.

Seen this one mentioned a couple of times, so would just like to address it:

The TV style lineup (in formation) is only available for important televised matches or highlights watched on Comprehensive and above. The teamsheet style lineup is always shown as part of the pre-match flow and is what a Manager would actually receive in reality, where they have no knowledge of the opposition formation until the match kicks off and they/their staff can observe it (see the Touchline Tablet). Note that the TV formation is a best guess from the pundits and may not actually be how the team are going to lineup.
