  1. Somehow, I don't think this will be the year we get our first win in Europe...
  2. I'm hoping to pick up at least a point this time around, but it's not going to be easy.
  3. Season Review Campionato Sammarinese: You've already seen this. We've lost in two finals now where we really shouldn't have, and these stupid losses are really hurting us. Coppa Titano: We failed to qualify through a tight group, coming bottom but being just one point off second. Key Players: Highest Average Rating: Nicola Rattini - 7.56 This one was really close - Giacomo Mancini (YP9) got a 7.55, and Marco Gatti (YP15) got 7.54. It's great to see players other than Marco Berardi (YP1) stepping up, but could they win the league for once? Top Goalscorer: Marco Gatti (YP15) - 25 Youth prospects: Superb. Especially considering how little my Assistant rates him... Marco Bernardi (YP1) - Not quite as effective at LW, but still fantastic. Michele Zafferani (YP2) - Played fairly well, but again cost us with his pathetic misses. Nicola Romanelli (YP6) - Once again, good but not great. Fabrizio Lo Russo (YP7) - Played well. Giacomo Mancini (YP9) - Played well when he was healthy - missed a lot of time due to injury. Christian Pelliccioni (YP11) - Fantastic. Daniele Podeschi (YP13) - Learnt how to play LB surprisingly fast, meaning he can now actually be used. Played well, but two stupid mistakes cost us in the final. Mattia Guidi (YP14) - 6.39 says it all. He's horrific. Marco Gatti (YP15) - His first full season, and he absolutely smashed it. Manuel Gentile (YP16) - My assistant might rate him 4.5* CA, but he's going to have to work for a place, because I don't rate him anywhere near as good as my current two wingers. Matteo Valentini (YP17) - My defense disappointed me at times, so he'll be given a chance next year. Aims for next season: I'm so frustrated. If I don't win the league next year I'm going to smash something. Other teams: League Winners: Sigh. Cup Winners: Murata beat Virtus 1-0 in the final. How the team in CL qualifying did: Unfortunately Libertas couldn't make it 3 years in a row, losing 3-0 to E/B Streymur from Faroe Islands. How the teams in Europa qualifying did: We got beat 7-1 by Beroe, while Murata lost 4-0 to Novi Pazar of Serbia. San Marino National team: 2023 Results --- 2024 Results Ouch. At least we put up a good fight against Lichenstein? Caps for our players: Marco Bernardi (YP1) is up to 39 caps. Michelle Zafferani (YP2) has 12, Nicola Romanelli (YP6), Giacomo Mancini (YP9) and Guiseppe Omiccioli all have 11, Daniele Podeschi (YP13) has 9, Christian Pelliccioni (YP11) has 7, Nicola Rattini has 3 and Fabrizio Lo Russo (YP7) has 1.
  4. Campionato Sammarinese Final Our Road to the Final: We breezed through the groups, looking untouchable at times and setting a new record for goals scored in a season, resulting in us winning our group for the first time. We had a little wobble in our first playoff game, but rebounded strong, looking very much like a title winning team. Libertas' Road to the Final: Five wins out of five, however, is also title winning form. They entered the playoffs in the first round, but won every game, conceding just one goal in three games. Their defense will be heavily tested by a dominant San Giovanni attack, however, with two excellent strikers in Marco Gatti (YP15) and Michele Zafferani (YP2) to go along with two of the most dangerous wingers in the country, with Nicola Rattini's pace on the right being an excellent compliment to Marco Bernardi (YP1)s technical ability on the left. Libertas have a few familiar faces in their team, with defenders Paolo Ciavatta (YP12) and Francesco Ferrara (YP10) fit for selection. They're a solid all round team, with no real stars or flaws. If they do have one dangerman, it's probably Luca Muraccini - the striker might not be able to run past you or beat you in the air, but his natural eye for goal has seen him net 8 times in just 14 league starts. San Giovanni have a strong defense, but one that's apt to have more than their fair share of bad games. Libertas are definitely the weaker team, and they just need to hope that San Giovanni have another nightmare at the back. The Lineups: We've gone with our 4-2-4 that's served us so well, while they've opted for a more defensive flat 4-4-2. It's our strongest team, but there's one noticeable player missing from theirs. Top scorer Luca Muraccini hasn't even made the squad, despite being fully fit. It makes sense when you look at his replacement, however - Filippo Berardi. Aged just 17 years old, he's probably a better player than Muraccini, but they're asking a lot of a youngster. And we're underway! Remember how I said defensive mistakes would be the only thing that could stop us? Well, it happened. Daniele Podeschi (YP13) went to charge down a midfielder, leaving a massive hole down the right wing. Golinucci went to gather it, and BOTH our Centre Backs decided to go to stop him. From there, all he had to do was find an unmarked Berardi, who easily headed it home. We were dominant after that, but just couldn't find a way through a determined Libertas defense. Marco Gatti (YP15) had a good chance, but was too slow to shoot, allowing a defender to get back and block it. Halftime came, and I absolutely tore into the team, screaming at their horrific performance on the most important night of the season. Did it work? YES! 51 minutes in, and our pressure finally paid off. Daniele Podeschi (YP13) made up for his mistake with a quick thinking throw on, finding Marco Bernardi (YP1) open down the left flank after the Libertas defense had switched off. There were four defenders around the penalty area, but Bernardi's cross dropped in the middle of all of them. Like it was predestined, the ball found Nicola Rattini, surrounded but open from four yards out. He made no mistake. Rattini began to torment the Libertas defense, putting in a great ball to Michele Zafferani (YP2) that was only just cleared away. Libertas began to shift extra men over to the right in an attempt to cover Rattini - meaning that, when Daniele Podeschi (YP13) got the ball down the left, he suddenly had lots of space. He played a delightful ball forward to Marco Bernardi (YP1), who squared it to Michele Zafferani (YP2) from two yards out. He couldn't miss. But he did. Somehow, Zafferani failed to put it either side of the goalkeeper, instead hitting it straight down the middle, allowing him to make the save. BUT HE COULDN'T STOP THE REBOUND FROM GOING IN! Marco Gatti (YP15) suddenly found himself with the ball, six yards out and the goalkeeper in no-man's land. Unlike Zafferani, he didn't miss. Gatti had another chance just two minutes later, but slipped the ball wide after being sent through one on one with the goalkeeper. Libertas were crumbling, but could San Giovanni take advantage and secure the win? Podeschi (YP13) may have helped with both our goals, but his horrific positioning also gave Libertas their two. Going in to make a tackle, he missed, and Golinucci again got wide open in the box. He crossed it to the back post, where Fiorini got away from Omiccioli to slot home. San Giovanni instantly began another barrage, having a corner cleared off the line and then a header go narrowly over the bar just seconds later. With 75 minutes on the clock, Michele Zafferani found himself clean through on goal. He fired wide. We were going to extra time. Suddenly, the ball bounced to Marco Gatti (YP15) in the penalty area. He was completely unmarked. De Angelis saved. San Giovanni continued to dominate, but just couldn't find a way through. The match would be decided on penalties.
  5. Just a sneak peak of how this season's gone... How's that for domination? Out of the four player of the year frontrunners, three play for us, and the other spent most of the season at us before leaving in January.
  6. Ahh, I hadn't even noticed! That combined with his (for this level) decent amount of pace probably explains it. Thanks for that
  7. Youth Intake Day! WOW! Oh. He's not terrible, but I don't see how he's rated so highly by my assistant. He built my hopes up, only to have them crushed. He's not the only one to get tagged, however: I'm not sure how good Valentini will be, but I can't resist 11 marking - especially when we're a bit short on defenders.
  8. Not a good season for us in terms of transfers, as a lot of crucial depth has jumped ship. We now lack depth in pretty much every position, and a few injuries will massively derail us.
  9. I wasn't going to pass up the chance at an investment.
  10. For someone aged 23 to break the club's all time appearance records show just how crucial he's been to us - especially because the seasons are pretty short. Hopefully, he's nowhere near done.
  11. Ooooooh! I don't expect it to come to anything, but a possible 600k investment would sit very nicely with me
  12. Yeah, it makes sense to me. I'm just wondering if it will ever increase, or if it's hardcoded to stay at £0. It likely won't make a huge difference, any prize money from San Marino is peanuts in comparison to what Europe will hopefully give us
  13. If it says there that the only prize money we got was from the Euro Cup, would I be right in thinking that the domestic side of things are giving us £0 in terms of prize money?
  14. Bulgaria, so a much more powerful footballing nation than us Thanks! I really appreciate that. Hopefully, this is just the tip of the iceberg! Wow, I never thought about that. That's absolutely crazy! I wonder how many people will turn up once we expand the stadium and start winning games..
  15. After beating Tre Penne 4-0, two bits of news come through:
  16. We weren't all that bad going forward, but we fell apart defensively. Still, there were some positives:
  17. We got penned back for 90 minutes, but some good keeping combined with a clincal Marco Gatti (YP15) finish gives us a chance in the second leg. Did the new long ball style of play make a difference? The scoreline suggests it did, but we just lost the ball every time we got it, clearing it right back to them. That just puts us under way too much pressure, and we're lucky they didn't stick 5 or 6 past us. I'm going to go to a 4-4-2, in an attempt to launch some blistering counter attacks from out wide. The fact that I've just discovered this player helps, too. His mentals might not be the best, but he's got good crossing and is lightning quick. I'm really excited to see what he can do.
  18. I'm not sure why we're in Europe this year, but we are. Expecting another hammering.
  19. Thanks guys! I doubt we'll keep the spot for long, but it's great to have while we can. The TV money has been slowly rising throughout - I earnt £17,343 from it last season, which is great. I can't find how to check prize money though?
  20. Massive credit to Cosmos and Fiorentino, their first round Champions League wins have given us four European spots!
  21. Season Review Campionato Sammarinese: Table I've never wanted to ragequit so badly. We had about eight chances to qualify for the playoffs, and lost all of them. My job is in serious threat if I can't immediately start winning. Schedule Coppa Titano: Table Schedule Breezed through the groups, but lost in the final after just failing to create or take any chances. Key Players: Highest Average Rating: Marco Bernardi (YP1) - 7.46 I don't want to think about where I'd be without him. I know it's nowhere good. Top Goalscorer: Michele Zafferani (YP2) - 15 Youth prospects: He might have scored a lot, but he misses way, way too many chances. Marco Bernardi (YP1) - Superb. Michele Zafferani (YP2) - Good season, but he misses so many sitters. Nicola Nanni (YP5) - He's our backup now that Nicola Bacciocchi (YP4) left, but he still isn't likely to play for us. Nicola Romanelli (YP6) - He'll do, but I'm slightly disappointed with his good but not great performances over the years. For his level of current ability, I'd expect better. Fabrizio Lo Russo (YP7) - Had a good season for th Giacomo Mancini (YP9) - Good, but needs to keep up his level of performance to keep his first team place. Francesco Ferrara (YP10) - Didn't impress when he played. Christian Pelliccioni (YP11) - Great season. Daniele Podeschi (YP13) - Such a waste. I've tried him in the international team at FB, but not being at all used to that position hurts him. Probably never going to be useful unless he grows a couple of inches. Mattia Guidi (YP14) - Was really disappointing in his limited game time. Marco Gatti (YP15) - 2 goals in 3 cup games has me really excited about what he can do next year. Aims for next season: Remember how I said it was win the playoffs or bust? Well, I didn't even qualify for them, and nearly lost my job. I need to win to keep it, so I have to at least make the playoff final. Other teams: League Winners: Libertas beat Murata 2-1. Cup Winners: Juvenes Dogana beat us 2-0 in the final. How the team in CL qualifying did: Two years in a row that we've made it through the first round! Cosmos knocked out Avenir Beggen on penalties, before getting destroyed 9-0 by Slovan Bratislava in the second round. How the teams in Europa qualifying did: We were one of them, and got battered by Cukaricki 6-1 (although did win 1-0 in the Home leg). Tre Fiori were the other, and they unluckily lost 2-1 on aggregate to Armenian side Shirak. San Marino National team: 2022 Results --- 2023 Results I was handed the job after the 0-0 draw against Hungary. As you can see, it's been a rough ride, with a draw against Azerbaijan the only highlight. Caps for our players: My job, my rules. Marco Bernardi (YP1) is up to 34 caps, and he now has company. Michelle Zafferani (YP2), Nicola Romanelli (YP6) and Giacomo Mancini (YP9) all have 8, Guiseppe Omiccioli has 7, Francesco Ferrara (YP10) has 6, Daniele Podeschi (YP13) has 5, and Christian Pelliccioni (YP11) has 4.
  22. Well, this season didn't go to plan, and I was sure that the board were going to fire me. I had a board meeting to discuss my future, but they agreed to give me one more chance. I think I need to change up the tactic, because the possession style isn't working - we aren't creating enough. I'd love to use wingers and go back to my comfort zone, but I just don't have any good ones in my squad. Instead, I'll have to stick with the narrow 4-3-3, but change up the instructions to make it a direct, attacking tactic and see how it goes.
  23. Youth Intake Day! Another CB? Let's take a look: He looks really average, and definitely not better than what we have now, so I'm not going to tag him. There is one player, however, who will be tagged: We badly needed a striker. Gatti isn't perfect, but he's got decent finishing, decent pace and isn't terrible in the air, so I'm hopeful that he can become a starting striker for us next season.
