  1. Since I dont't think that there will be a fix for the financial problem in belgium, I'll restart the challenge soon. At the moment I am thinking about the country I am doing it in (Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Romania, Croatia are on my mind)

    One question

    @darren1983 / @XaW

I am thinking about using the great "Increase Realism"-Megapack from Daveincid. Is this a database update which can be used and you just get a note if you complete it (since it's only makes the game harder) or is it forbidden?

First of all, I have to say, wow - so many great reports, so well prepared and presented. Every year I read here with pleasure and i´m always on the verge of entering here myself. The only problem I have is that I watch the games on at least "advanced" mode, so I think I'll never get to what the goal is here :)

You probably all play with instant results?

Or is the journey the goal? :)

Always Extended Highlights, except maybe a cup game or last games of the season if everything is decided with "key", never instant result.

And yes, the challenges take time (never finished one ;) ), but you win back a lot of time because you don't do transfer, don't need to scout any potential signings etc.

Good luck in Belgium. If you don't have a HOYD than I would suggest that you take a staff member with the best personality for youth intakes.

You will be our trigger if they have solved the financial issues in Belgium. If so I will restart in Belgium.

Thank you. And: Yes, that's want I want to do, but I can't find the option, where I can change the responsibility for the intakes to my assistant manager...

  4. After a few years doing other saves and challenges, I give this another go - in Belgium with

    K.S.C. Lokeren-Temse

A club formed following the bankruptcy of two-times cup winner Sporting Lokeren through a merger with amateur side KSV Temse.

Can we make a comeback? Or will it end in another financial disaster? (I am aware of the problems in Belgium)

We start with the oldest squad in the league and without promising youngsters from the intake in the first season - and of course with no experience and knowledge (sorry for the german screenshot, didn't think to switch before taking it)

And one question at the start: Where can I change the responsibility for the youth intake to another member of my staff if I don't have a Head of Youth Development? Can't find it after so many years, I didn't need it. Thanks :)

Decent going to get to 2026 - how have you got on so far? Any silverware?

With regards to the bug, I know the B/U18s teams had fixtures last year, as my assistant kept wanting to play the whole first team in the games. I will have to check if they were league fixtures or not, and will keep an eye on it

I won the league 2 times and the cup one time, yet, but at the moment FK Rigas is the best team in the country and are rocking the league. What's odd on my save: Riga FC has fallen hard - despite having much more money than everyone else in the league. They were 7h last year

Regarding the bug: Yes, they have fixtures. But only grey players are playing in the reserve and youth league games. Just check the next time the line-up after a game and you'll see that all your players are not on the pitch. They are playing only in friendlies. A very annoying bug (already reported and recognized, but not fixed, yet :( )

  6. Hi @scousevaseyand @Sheriff7: I am (with Metta, too) in the year 2026 and Ventspils got promoted to the Virslīga for the first time this season. So it's possible that they show up...

A information regarding reserve and youth league: There's a bug in Latvia. Players are not allowed to play in this leagues, because they are "not registered". But it's not possible to register them at any point (unfortunately SI didn't fix this bug, yet)

Regarding your season 2: I think you'll enjoy Muritala. I had a lot of fun with him and he's a legend at the club now :)

Btw: Very interesting read, follow your story since you started it :)

    San Marino Calcio

What a season. Qualified for the Champions League because of getting the 4th place in the league with a lot of great performances. But the best part was Europe: First time participating and smashing through this new European Conference League thingy. At the end we won the damn Cup. YEAH!

But the most important part of our season was a nerve-wrecking winter with a big happy-end. Our super-striker Yan Cavalcanti got with the start of the winter transfer window offers from all over the place. Liverpool, PSG, Dortmund, Atletico,... Because he has a 60 million Euro release clause I couldn't do anything about it – and I couldn't give him a new contract, because he wants 3 times more than I am allowed to give.

So I was sure, that I'll lose him, but with every offer from one of the big european clubs there was this small news item, that he wants to wait if Roma makes an offer, because they are his preferred destination. And nothing happened, one week after another was going by. I got a little bit angry, because I feared the time was running out getting a replacement, because I couldn't make any offer without getting the money in for him (and 2 players I had in my sights were already going to other clubs).

And then a miracle happened: He just said, that he declined all the offers. He wants to stay here. Had that never happen, that a player just brushed so many big club offers aside and is happy to stay without wanting a new contract or something else. I think that made our big season possible (and I think I'll lose him in the summer now, but there should be enough time to find a new striker).

Btw: Our best season, yet, was the first one without one San Marinese National Player in the first team.

Was a good campaign, because for the first time, we weren't smashed by the big teams. Lost the games, but only by smaller margins. Had a chance to qualify for the EUROs, too (I think because of our Nations League C title a few years back), but lost in a semi-final to Lithuania 0-1 after missing several chances to score a goal.

Mediocre season for a long time, always win, defeat, win, defeat,... (only 2 draws the whole season), but at the end with a lot of luck we made it to the 7th place again – and this year that help us to get into Europe...

Crap intake this year (expected that already after a preview without one positive information), but at least they are all San Marinese and want to play for the national team. So they can improve this team if I can find clubs for them in a few years. But my club team will be out of San Marinese players in a short time (the last two are fading out and didn't get game time this season, the promising youngsters from the last years are all playing for Italy' youth teams now).

How do we handle European football at San Marino Calcio? Will be interesting since most of the money is still going in the facilities and in our new stadium which opened last year, I am operating with not that big of a squad. Around 20 Million Euros I can invest in the team (because we received our biggest transfer fee yet in the winter) which is much needed because we are losing with Gabriele Perrotta our best player.

The national team will use the European Qualifiers for more tactic testing. I need to find more options here.

Good season in Serie A. Was surprisingly close to our first European adventure.

The whole intake is not something to talk about, but this one striker could be a gem. Again the problem: doesn't want to play for San Marino, because he thinks he can make it into the Italian National Team.

Enjoying life in Serie A. We can improve the facilities, are earning money and are trying to build a team for the future. Improved the defense, had a few problems with the offense this season. Didn't score enough goals, so focus for next year will be this area, getting a few new players, making a few tactic adjustments.

    tabelle.thumb.jpg.f2dbb397c923694edc38d7bb5d52d5ee.jpg

Youth intake was okay. No players who will improve my team, but a few who could improve the national team in the next few years and are willing to play for it (the 2 central defenders from last years still don't want to play).

But still the problem that the team is getting smaller and smaller. The San Marinese teams are not producing decent players, some players are retiring at even a young age, because they can't find a club and the only solution is at the moment taking them on myself.

    San Marino Calcio

First season in Serie A, and we made a lot of money. Was very conservative, didn't pay much higher wages, didn't buy that many players, because I didn't want to go down with too expensive players.

But we didn't go down. We had some rough times, conceded too many goals, but stayed clear of the relegation zone the whole time. A little bit of a problem is the disciplinary record. Our new tactic is more aggressive and the result of that are many yellow and red cards. Shattered the Serie A record – in January (!!!). One of our (attacking) players had 17 yellow cards at the end of the season, the whole team had 157 yellow and 7 red cards in the league.

    tabelle.thumb.jpg.1276cc9d1eb766562bfac1b87458e661.jpg

For the first time since the beginning we had a great youth intake – with two defenders who could get straight in the national team. The biggest problem is, both don't want to play for San Marino, because our nation has a too low reputation for them. The smaller problem is, Lorenzo Franciosi doesn't even want to sign a contract with me and big clubs are already sniffing around. So my hope for the future is Nicola Gasperoni.

Okayish season in the EURO Qualifiers. 4th as expected, a little bit disappointing is the draw against Gibraltar, and we didn't score even a goal against the top-3 nations.

    1426385696_tabelleeuros.thumb.jpg.31e3d0402643fe4f523a725d91409b76.jpg

A problem at the moment is: We've some players without a club now, a few even retired at a young age, because they didn't find new clubs. I am thinking about signing all the national players without a club, so they have at least training and I can try to loan them out.

    Season 6 Preview

With San Marino Calcio, the goal is to earn more money, improve all facilities, get more good intakes and stay up. I think the second season will be harder. I think I'll lose my goalkeeper Luís Rocha, who was voted the best keeper in Serie A this season, but has a low release clause (was mandatory at the time I signed him), doesn't want to sign a new contract and big clubs like Man City are showing interest in him.

With the national team we are taking our second run at the Nations League C. I want to get promoted!

Are you sharing facilites with another club? Because if you do that with an affiliate club and you are using their facilites, you can't upgrade them. Only they can do that.

Wow, didn't anticipate that. We got back-to-back promotions and are in the promised land: Serie A, where the money is.

Season was great, took us a few weeks to get going, but from mid-october we were rolling.

Important was our new striker Riccardo Tonin with 31 goals (!). The funny thing. Had him on my radar for quite some time, but didn't want to sign him, because I didn't see the need for a new striker since Nicholas Bonfanti was so great for us. But I couldn't find a good enough left attacking mid and had the idea, that Nicholas Bonfanti could do a very good job for us there, so I re-trained Bonfanti and signed Tonin.

Played very offensive, need to improve the defense for Serie A.

Btw.: I am not talking about Youth Intakes much, yet, because they are not good. Best player from this year has 2.5 stars potential.

I am a little bit disappointed. Thought we could win the Nations League C and we came close, but at the end we lost 2:1 against Georgia.

    Season 5 Preview

With San Marino Calcio, I am looking forward to earning money. The goal is to improve the club infrastructure and just fight for our survival. If we can stay up I am happy, if we go down we take the money with us (that's why I'll try to improve the defense via loan players and free signings only and try to give no big new contracts to the players at the club).

With the national team we are having the EURO Qualifiers. I don't think we have can achieve something. We have Gibraltar and Lichtenstein in the group, so that need to be 4 wins. Against Scotland, Serbia and Denmark I want to get at least one surprising result.

    San Marino Calcio

Great season. Turning professional the goal was to get promoted, and we had a super start: 8 wins and 2 draws from the first 10 games. But mid-october we got problems out of nowhere. 3 losses in a row, no consistency until february. Then we got rolling again. Only one loss in the last 13 games, but too many draws (6). And Südtirol was consistent and too far ahead. So we finished only second.

Play-off-time. I hate them, they are nerve-wrecking. First round we won 2:0 away, 1:1 at home, everything okay. Second round: 2:0 away-win again, after scoring early in the home game everything seemed to be easy again. But our opponent came back, 1:1 after 15 minutes, 1:2 after 23 minutes and after a lot of defending 1:3 after 68 minutes. Luckily they seemed to stop there, we had more and more chances again, but couldn't score in regular time... and for a long time in extra time. But as I already started to prepare for penalties, the goal come: 2:3 and through to the play-off-finale.

And another nerve-wrecking game there, the shorty story is: Because of a 2-2 draw after regular and after extra time, penalties decided, a lot of penalties. Every player from our team still on the green (we had one red card) was called to the spot until our goalkeeper Alessandro Gilardi saved one and score one to become a hero and legend for this club: Promotion to Serie B!

A lot less spectacular. We had very good World Cup Qualifiers. Came with 5 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses 4th in our group, just on goal difference behind Ireland. Really looking forward to next years Nation League, because all the teams in our Group C played much worse in their qualifying groups.

Being the only semi-professional team in the league, I am very happy that we stayed clear of the relegation places the whole season. Solid 8th place in the end.

    Season 2 Preview

It might sound ambitious but I want to achieve promotion with San Marino Calcio. We are turning professional now and I will do a big overhaul of the squad. I think I can attract good enough player to win Serie C.

With the national team I played the first few games of the World Cup Qualifiers already and that looked good. I don't think we will finish last and that's the goal: Leave one or maybe even two teams in our group behind us.
