  1. Updated version of database and competition for a future year is not something you can find on a forum.

Lets  make an example: playing season 2022/23 with FM22 instead of FM23:

    - the game would anyway start no layer than January 2022 (autumn 2021 if you pick up an European team)

    - competions and rules would not be updated, maximum you could do is to play competitions of year before with teams which are in that competition the current year

    - editors could update attributes of all players (almost impossible to do) but then you will have problems with player histories and transfers, they can't be updated anyhow because you can't enter data in the future (respect to the start of the season)

  2. The problem IMHO is that it doesn't matter how good is the team and how well organized they are at SI, however it is almost impossible to make a polished game with real innovative new functionalities in one year.

It would make much more sense to have an iteration every 4-5 years with in between DB updates, competition rules updates and bug fix.

    1) it would make the game playable at full potential in September when we are all excited by the start of new football season IRL and when in Europe, North America a Far East (the locations with more costumers) is starting the autumn, so are starting the months when people are more keen to stay home and playing games;

    2) aficionados would still buy the update every year and paying almost full price, because it's important to have updated db and  competitions, new potential customers could be attracted by offers game+update, as it happens with DLCs for other videogames

    3) in 4-5 years the developers would have the time to implement properly great features and to improve enormously ME and AI, it would make the game better

Is it possible to make your U23 and/or U18 manager use a different formation/tactic to what the first team use.

Every time i get the news items re. available first team players for youth teams, they always seem to use same formation as me...  Im sure you could allow them to pick their own on previous versions....

This. And it would also be useful to be able to suggest them to use a certain player in a specific position and role.

I downloaded the file and one of the first things I noticed under the database changes once I opened it in the editor is that the Famous Players list for Saudi Arabia (which was quite lengthy in the base game) and Barbados were completely cleared.

What was then added for those countries who had their lists cleared? Absolutely nothing. Those lists for those countries are now empty with zero data in them.

So the file does exactly the opposite of what it was advertised to do when it comes to certain nations.

That's why I uploaded it, so that you may advice to add some players or suggest changes.

  5. I always modded the FM database editing the famous players for each nation. It is  a massive work to do every year, furthermore I think I reached a level of accuracy very high, I carefully picked players for each nation, roles, look on the net for their heigth etc. I  submit the file because I would like to receive your comments and suggestions, so that maybe in the future we could propose to revamp this part of db also in the official version of the game. I am fed up to do it every year. :D

UEFA has published a decision about participation of Russian clubs in 2022/23 season : https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/mediaservices/mediareleases/news/0275-150c9887cacb-882c686f407f-1000--uefa-decisions-for-upcoming-competitions-relating-to-the-ongoin/

Does it mean that FM 2023 will reflect the decision accordingly and will only ban Russian teams for one season or will continue banning them indefinitely?

The ban could be extended, but it should be done in a random manner and not hard-coded, similarly as it was done for Brexit case.

I agree...and it should be possible to edit it, as it was done for Brexit. The same for national team and for Ukrainian leagues, player should be allowed to play with set up he wish. it's a game, it's not a representation of what will be in 5 years and it shouldn't be intended in this way.

  7. This is a crucial aspect of football nowadays and it has to be taken into account. I give a couple of examples:

    - La Salida Lavolpiana is partially possible with FM but not exactly in an ideal way: we are forced to have a  half back to have a DM dropping between central defenders and we do not have control on how wide they are opening, in addition, during this phase of the game the other players are following normal instructions, so it isn't possible to define position of players for this particular scenario.

    - Many teams play out of defence in this way: starting with a classic line of 4 defenders, they have right back staying in line with the two central defenders and the left back going up on the field, on the line of midfielders (of course you could have also the opposite). So if you have lets say a 4-3-3, you have this:

Becoming like this to play out of defence, with right back going closer to center, right central defender playing in center of defence and left central defender staying more wide on the left:

  8. A new type of AM: the player which is tackling and pressing high in the field. It could be useful for instance an AMC marking and closing up the opposite playmaker playing DM (like for instance did Kessie last season Milan) or an AMR/AML marking creative opposite fullbacks (Kuyt was such a player).

  9. I think that wage of players in game should be indicated after taxes, as they are given in real life on newspapers etc.

The gross salary should have an impact on the balance and of course on budget for transfers and wages of the team, but it should reflect the fiscality as it is now IRL.

Having salary after taxes will be useful for having fiscality like IRL, for instance it would be possible to have tax deduction for first two years for player coming from abroad to Italy.

4 players in 1 week asking to go on loan. I am top of the league after 12 games with 32 goals scored. Why oh why is there no option for me to to tell this backup AMC that he's not in the team cos the starting AMC is running riot at the moment. Instead I just have to say yeah I'll loan you out or tell him to shut up and get on with it. Player interactions are just boring and quite frankly shambolic. Players should come to you with requests to play if their competitor in that position has been poor, if they've been training well or if they are doing well in U23 footy etc.

How did you set up his status?

FINALLY someone else points out the major issues that I've had with FM22!

The centre backs losing the ball from goal kicks is absurd - either every goalkeeper in the lower divisions in Eastern Europe is the next Ederson, or the ME is broken from goal kicks. It was like this in FM21 too, but thankfully the rest of the ME was good enough to just about make up for it. Weirdly it doesnt actually result in many goals because the strikers, despite being through on goal, don't finish off the easy chances like that. Like you've pointed out, scoring from set pieces seems to be the more likely thing to happen.

I kept trying to get back into my save, but I've given up now, for me FM22 just isn't fun to play.

On a side note personally I'm not sure it's really acceptable for SI to release the game, do ONE major patch after four months, then leave everything as it is until next year. The Club World Cup has been broken for years, nobody seems to care. EA and Ubisoft rightfully get criticised from all sides about their distain for their customers, but are we really getting any better here? Yes, SI are a smaller company, but how many people does it take to fix the Club World Cup stamina issue, or the niggly UI issues that have been present for multiple games now...?

Hope they will address some of these issues with 22.4, are major problems.
