  1. I am trying to edit the dropdown list of search conditions which you can filter players by on the Scouting screen under the 'All Known Players' page, 'Scouted' page, 'Player Shortlist' page and 'Recent Page'. It seems that purchasing the in-game editor has enabled some additional conditions which I do not want visible in my saved game. I have attached two screenshots, one from a save where the IGE has been disabled (and therefore the conditions are not present) and one where the IGE is enabled and the two additional conditions are visible. These two conditions are listed as 'FM In-Game Editor' and 'Hidden'. Both allow you to filter players by CA, PA etc. I have spent a long time playing around in the panels.fmf files to try and find where to edit this, but I'm stumped. An alternative edit would be to find out how to disable all of the 'hidden' filters etc which are enabled when the IGE is purchased. Any feedback very welcome, though @michaeltmurrayuk 's view particularly appreciated!
  2. Thanks for the tip Michael. I gave that a try too, but no luck. Thanks for the help, but looks like it's not possible.
  3. Thank you for responding Michael. That's frustrating. Do you have any idea where the list is populated from? My other thought was to see if I could find the file that controls the list itself and then perhaps see if I could edit the xml to default the setting as off.
  4. Hi all, I would like to change the behaviour of the inbox filter messages dialog so that it remembers which topics have been de-selected. I have attached a screenshot of the dialog in question. The default behaviour is that, once unticked, the setting is forgotten as soon as you hit continue. I am trying to permanently filter out all news items on training and so I need it to save state once I continue. I've tried editing the 'inbox filters dialog.xml' file and changing the '<boolean id="save_session_state" value' to be true rather than false, but that doesn't seem to work. I've tried this in the main data folder as well as the updates folders. Does anyone have any ideas, or does anyone know how I can get this to work? Thanks in advance!
  5. Sorry Michael, could have sworn I responded to this! Thanks for the help yet again.
  6. If you wanted to hide attributes a bit more in combination with this, you could use visual attributes instead? It's a preference in the game settings. Hiding them completely involves editing xml panel files.
  7. Thanks Michael, I've tried emptying both of those XML files and I'm left with just the text that I'm trying to get rid of! I've uploaded a save with this news item in the inbox if you happen to get a chance to look at it. Thanks for your help so far. Any ideas? https://www.mediafire.com/?jsjyhmtc0o5ogdy
  8. Another question from me on the specifics of removing references to CA and PA I'm afraid. Hoping someone (though it'll probably be Michael again :D) will be able to help. I'd like to remove the reference to the standard of football that the player is able to play at in this training development update from my assistant manager. I've attached a screenshot showing which bit I'm trying to remove. I'm aware I may not be able to remove this specific line of text, so would be happy to actually empty the entire news item itself so that it appears blank in the inbox. However, I can't locate the specific XML file (I've been looking in the news_items_panels folder). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Thank you for your help as always Michael. Much appreciated.
  10. I have been trying to remove the reference to current ability and potential ability within the email reports and contextual reports related to player development. These appear as the 'player development advice summary' news item and reference whether a player is able to play at a certain standard of football and also whether they have the potential to reach those standards. I have attached a screenshot showing what I would like to change. Primarily I'd like to remove these references (while retaining all other advice). I can't see a way to do that through editing the panels. My second attached screenshot shows that the option is available to disable this advice in Backroom Advice Settings, when highlighting the 'Player Development' category. So an alternative solution would be to edit this panel to have these topics off by default and hidden so that they cannot be toggled back on. I've spent a long time investigating both and so far, no luck. Does anyone know if this is possible? And if so, a bit of guidance would be great. Thanks in advance!
  11. Quick question, if I'm on a budget, which aspects should I prioritise to play FM as fast as possible? - RAM - SSD - Processing Speed - Number of Cores And is there a minimum for each of these? For example, I'm currently thinking that a 4GB RAM, Dual-Core, SSD, 2.5ghz laptop would be a decent bet. But should I be looking to perhaps sacrifice SSD for a quad core? Thanks in advance. EDIT: Just looking at this Lenovo laptop: https://www.intel.co.uk/buy/uk/en/product/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-510s-14-29ghz-i5-6267u-14-1920-x-1080pixels-white-522639 2.9Ghz CPU and SSD storage plus 8GB RAM. Only dual core though. Seems like a good bet.......?
  12. I have created a small mod to remove/hide any reference to CA or PA within the default skin. DOWNLOAD LINK [1732 FINAL]: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ygh4gmvbqu1si4w/data.rar/file DOWNLOAD LINK [1730 BASIC]: https://www.mediafire.com/?mainrtfa88wkjit I had found myself mindlessly focusing on star ratings regardless of performance and scouring the globe for 5-star potential players. Using this mod removes any aspect of Current Ability or Potential Ability from the game. I'd love for some people to try it out (and ideally try and 'break' it by finding areas where it is still possible to sort or view PA or CA) and let me know what you think. More than happy to answer questions too and of course, anything I've missed I will update and re-upload. After downloading the file, unzip the data folder (which contains a sub-folder called 'updates'). There's a readme with instructions contained within, but in essence all you do is drop the main folder (called 'data') at the following location, or the equivalent location on your computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2017 You may need to clear your User AppData, sometimes called the cache, to ensure the mod is loaded. C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017 NOTE: PLEASE CREATE A BACKUP OF YOUR EXISTING DATA FOLDER FIRST! EDIT: Link updated, a few more screens/sections I'd missed the first time around now hidden. To complete the mod, you will need to make a small adjustment within your saved game too. In the screenshot below you can see the three categories you will need to disable in your backroom advice topics. To reach this screen navigate to Staff>Responsibilities>Backroom Advice. Then left-click the 'Player Development' topic. That will bring up the tickboxes below. Simply untick all six boxes for 'Potential Ability Changes', 'High Potential Players' and 'Current Ability Changes'. This will ensure your backroom advice doesn't reference CA or PA in any way.
  13. Cheers Michael, that's helpful. I've plumped on removing stars altogether instead of removing all tooltips. Details on the mod I've created here:
  14. Just bumping this in case anyone has any recommendations. I noticed a few others quoted me and are looking for similar too....
