  1. World Cup 2034 Cameroon (n) A point and we are through as Top. Easy as that. A win to tick them off as a Country. No surprises here. In my mind, we should be winning. We are now 8th in the World and they are 33rd. The colder the better! Before we played 4 groups would finish. Both teams were already through but Poland ease past Morocco and take the Group. No worries for England. Jamaica get through based on the fact their loss was better than the New Zealanders. New Zealand needed Mexico's score! Croatia left it late to settle it. Mexico absolutely destroyed UAE and, as is custom, will be a dangerous 2nd Round side. We once again play first on our day, lets get this done. Same starting XI as the 3-0 win against Chile. No point changing it really. Once again, I'm going to make a brew. See you at Half Time. Well. Lowry now has 3 goals in 2 games so far. Unexpected star of the World Cup for us so far. Long may it continue. Dangerous scoreline 2-0. I'd be silly to start resting players as early as Half Time here. Not joking. The second I took off our 3 best players to rest! As a red and green colour blind person whenever Cameroon attack I have a seizure trying to read the writing. What a game Alex Lowry. Took us on his shoulders and ran. Icing? OR A STATEMENT! Doak, cos he couldn't let Lowry have all the fun. They nicked a goal right at the death but not to worry. Good win. It means we top the Group and Chile go through. No surprises here really. Another new Country to tick off and another African Country. Glad Ivory Coast didn't win by more otherwise it could have been France!
  2. I wish I was American Samoa. Please @Makoto Nakamura have a word.
  3. World Cup 2034 We get a bit of a breather so lets keep you up to date. We aren't getting many shock winners but there are some shock draws that could have ripples down the Knockout Stages. Wales with a good win and Spain with an easy win, much like us. Italy, Brazil and Denmark made to work very hard for their wins. Portugal easy win against minor opposition. No offence Syria. The second set of fixtures start with some Countries sweating on a result. I wasn't doing another screenshot just for the sake of Belgium scorers! The hosts are out! Morocco and Poland progress and battle for top spot. New Zealand keep their hopes alive and now hope England beat Jamaica by more than 5 goals. A normal way to qualify of course. Venezuela qualify top. Leaving Senegal and Croatia to battle for the last place. Belgium are comfortably through. Mexico and UAE will battle for qualification in the last game of the Group. Our Group play the next day, will we go through without kicking a ball? Another other than a Chile win will see this happen. We are made to wait, but isn't it better when its in our own hands. Argentina are through as winners. Honduras v Ukraine for a place in the knockouts. Ecuador are through but not guarenteed as winners. Suirname will face Holland. France the same, Ivory Coast v Qatar in that finale. Chuffing Spain and their 10 thousand scorers! USA and Wales are both through from Group I and face each other for the Top Spot. Germany go through and Nigeria will play Costa Rica for the final place. Spain breeze into the 2nd Round. South Africa v South Korea for the other spot. Norway through. Iran v Mali in the final game there. Didn't think this would happen mid tournament but I'll take it. Quick somebody get the President of Mozambique FA on the phone! Italy, Brazil and Portugal all finish top of their Groups. Uruguay win and are likely through unless Saudi Arabia can shock Denmark. Our game is coming up.
  4. World Cup 2034 Chile (n) Welcome to freezing cold Australia! Well...I mean...its their winter... I feel like I owe this Interviewer an apology, it never clicked! We are favourites against Chile. I don't know why this surprised me much really. We are 11th in the World Chile are 52nd. Its the World Cup however and anything can happen. We are Day 2 so what happened on Day 1? The resolution has changed on my laptop for starters! Used to be able to fit them in 1 screenshot! England started horribly good but its only New Zealand. The hosts were dismantled and I'll call the Venezuela win a shock. This is our Strongest XI. Gemmell gets the nod ahead of Turnbull, McGurk gets the nod ahead of Curutchet cos his name is just easier to spell and I would have been foolish not to give Doak his start. And no its not Marcelo Salas. Trust me, I'm as disappointed as you are. I'm going to start the World Cup by saying...I'm not expecting any retirements after this Tournament... We have a goal chalked off on the 12th minute. VAR was checked but even I thought it was Offside and I'm as salty as they come. VAR checked again but this one stands. Dylan Munro. Welcome to Australia. Good first half performance. Something to build on. Ben Doak. He is in the International form of his life and he now has a World Cup goal to add to his CV. We take contrlo but Chile have been coming into it more and more. Icing? Or a statement. Lowry gets on the end of a looping cross to head home. That's why we were favourites! We were first up so the rest of the day looked like this... Ukraine are a good side so Argentina will be relieved. France with a good win and Ecuador with a late goal to grab a shocking point over Holland.
  5. Just been looking at my Spreadsheet of Countries and it turns out I've not really touched much of Asia which is really ironic as our next match... Friendly Kenya (h) Yep. Africa. Certainly went for the easy pickings before the World Cup. Chile and Cameroon are my World Cup opponents for anybody who had forgotten. I had. A few starters, Campbell, Lowry and Hardwick. The rest back ups. Want to try and avoid injuries before the big day. Doak has been the one player I will really have to think about. Always outstanding. I've given all strikers a chance and they have all impressed. I mean its obviously Munro but still. Nice to know the back ups are firing as well. A flurry but since steady. Nobody got injured and we won. I'll call that a success.
  6. Friendly Curacao (h) This should be a nice relaxing game 150. 3 changes. Curutchet comes in at RB with youngsters O'Rourke and Kamara getting their first International Starts. Now I'm going to go make a drink during the half, so no goal by goal updates...please...try and hide the disappointment. Kamara in his full International Debut bagged the first 6. Lets all pretend they were all screamers. And typically that was that! One more friendly to go before the World Cup and another Country ticked off here.
  7. 150 games. In the previous 149 games we have ticked off 83 Countries. Means it will take another 150 games and then some!
  8. Sorry about this all of a sudden slow burner. Just can't seem to find the time at the moment. But here we are again. Friendly Guyana (h) Can't really remember making these fixtures but it has a sense of "go easy before the World Cup" feel to it. Its honestly been that long that I had to click on names to give me an idea of who they were. Apparently, I've decided to test you eye sight. Bonus points for naming all Subs. It isn't the strongest XI by far but it does have a good number of starters. They should be a breeze. Steady start but the breakthrough from Munro. Munro grabs his second. We will be wrapping him in cotton wool after this game. And his hattrick. Doak seems to be a player who has turned it up a notch recently (I think). Another goal here. Munro. Who else (well Doak obviously). Hunter grabs a goal before half time. Sorry out of practice, here's roughly the half time stats. Doak again staking a claim for a starting spot. Brennan with an absolute beauty. Laidlaw came on a halftime and bags his goal. Few disallowed goals but can't grumble. Another team ticked off.
  9. World Cup Squad As always 55 became 26 without a ball was kicked. So who made it onto the plane? 3 Keepers you know. No point reposting that screenshot. No defender will be making their debut this World Cup. But 2 18 year olds fills me with confidence, even though at this point they are both back ups. James Gemmell has come out of nowhere to be a good option at CM. He had a brilliant season and deserves his spot. O'Rourke, maybe the City thing has played in his favour. Billy Gilmour being left at home was the toughest decision I made. I wanted to give myself options. Knowing Munro can play out wide as well. Kamara, was a curiosity pick. He will play in a friendly. He could be amazing in the future. So that's the team. Only 5 players over the age of 30. 3 under 18 or under.
  10. Right so the next Call Ups will be the World Cup Squad. This will be a good time to look at all the Youngsters I have to see how the future of the side is looking. I feel like I've given caps out left right and center to players just because they are young and half decent. How many of them actually have a future with the squad? Lets start with the Keepers. This has been a part of the side that has been average at best. I've lost track how many players I've stuck between the sticks. We potentially have one for the future and beyond. These are the guys with a shot of making the World Cup... I would wager this is the youngest 3 we have ever called up. Nobody under the age of 30 but with only 16 caps between them and they all coming from 1 player its an inexperienced line up going to Australia. I have half a mind to start and stick with Steven Campbell. Typical Johnson, waits his entire career, finally gets the gloves then the next Gordon Banks shows up. A wide range of ages and experience makes up the defence in this 55 man squad. I think I see James Martin and Scott Strang making it, the rest, could be filler. I've been waiting for Lewis O'Rourke to make that jump but so far it hasn't happened. I don't see many surprises here. This is such a frustrating position. Munro, Laidlaw, Nairn, Wilkie, Kamara, Lewis, Currie all good quality talent. I play 1 striker.
  11. Nations League Draw Well this was a surprise. I was gearing myself up for the World Cup Squad. Its a tough old Group. But...it gives us 2 chances to knock off big names. Germany and Italy. And technically we will go into the Group 2nd favourites! The rest of the Top Table looks like this... I think we got the Group of Death.
  12. For the record our highest so far is 18-0. We had 2 goals disallowed. We were close!
  13. Friendly St Vincent and the Grenadines Luckily we have got the hard game out the way and we can look forward to the easy game of the two. Holy Forking Shirtballs! Just been told about this guy. Please Kilmarnock. Don't blow this. He will be called up next time. He will be played and he will just be 16. Any way back to the game at hand. Gilmour comes in to earn another cap and Jackson starts at the back. A few changes forced by the 45 minute rule! Nairn has taken full advantage of Munro not playing. Full advantage. And a stunner brings up the 15 minute hattrick. Doak continues his fine form. Sam Campbell picks up a rare goal. Nairn adds his 4th. Billy Gilmour sneaks another just before the break and we match our first half performance from the last game. Nairn's 5th. Gilmour from the spot. Woooo 10. Gilmour bags a hattrick. I can't keep up! Nairn with his 21st of the game. Don't know. Anybody remember our record? And breath. Nairn got 9.
  14. Thank you :-). I enjoyed a few seasons with Chelsea on my Tod and won everything so it got boring quickly. Tried MLS and learnt very quickly it wasn't for me! Friendly Philippines (h) God its good to be back. I missed this save more than I thought I did coming back into it. The first Starting XI is going to be just players who are allowed to play the full 90! Housekeeping. We lost Hickey to injury and he was replaced by a returning Ryan Porteous. Martin does indeed come into the fold, helped by injury to Hickey. Its an unusual starting XI but this is because most of the starters have 45 minutes next to their name and I don't want to risk annoying anybody. Not this close to a World Cup! This should still be a cake walk. Ben Doak opens the scoring. Another Country should be ticked off. Doak turns provided. And then bags his second. Then turns provider again. Then has nothing to do with the 5th! Useless! Its as easy as expected. I've now got to dig out my old Spreadsheet with the Countries on it! 3 players on a hattrick. Doak grabs it first and he deserves it. Jobs a good one I'd say.
  15. Ok so on paper its not the hardest International Break we are ever going to have and this is reflected in... Murray Johnson keeps the gloves. 17 year old James Martin very likely to play his first game. Ray Syme not very likely at all. Nothing new here but quite solid. Wilkie likely to start and likely to end this break with a positive goals to cap ratio!
  16. We play the Philippines in 72 days. Plenty of time to remember who we are, where we are and what my name is.
  17. One month in the books and I've been given some good players in the scouting. I'm not 100% sure how much weight each draft pick has so I'm reluctant to touch them. I think this might end up being a case of seeing what the expansion draft give me...in 11 months time.....
  18. .............oh.........can't wait! Haha was that on 23 as well?
  19. Ok here we go. First look into recruitment. LA Galaxy don't have space for him. I like the look. Lets bid. I'm joking. I know how American Sports work but its so odd seeing it in FM. This save is going to take some getting used to! I do not blame you. It would have been an awful trade for you.
  20. I've noticed the place is looking rather empty. Job number 1. Get me some staff in! Coaches, Scouts, Medical. We pretty much need the lot! We have an academy! I like the look of this guy lets move him up. And a few more while we are at it.
  21. Ok this makes more sense I am really sorry about all the writing. "It was the best of saves, it was the worst of saves" The good news is the long term expectation of this save is to not finish bottom. I think the chairman has seen my previous work.
  22. I'm scared and I've not even clicked continue once yet in this save. I think this is going to be a very much, learn by doing save. Do not be surprised at any point to see me sign a player to immediately have to sell him because he doesn't meet any criteria. Speaking of meeting shall we take a look at the bare bones in which we have started with. Its a name I recognise. That's a good start. As keepers go he isn't horrible at all and fills a good position I don't need to worry about. The opposite of Scotland so far. Don't recognise this guy. Some MLS teams are interested in him. Might let him go in the interest of a blank canvas. Another name I know. He's done the rounds in Bundesliga most of his career. He looks solid and the fact he plays numerous positions means he will be a keeper. We seem to have a solid base at the back we can build this team around. I am loving it. I wouldn't be upset if we kept him but really don't know. What I need to be careful about is these players are here for a year with no game time coming. Which is why you'll notice all are up for loan. Now this guy I like. He looks very mid range but I think I can get the best of him. He plays the role and duty I like and so he could be a perfect player for me to start this journey with. Like the youth aspect of this geezer. I'll be brutal here and say nope, not for me. I like 1 up front and this guy doesn't strike me as somebody who is going to be good on his own.
  23. The first thing I need to do really is get to grips with how this league works... Ok that's very straight forward so far, nothing to worry about here... Ok I know how American Sports work so if a team releases a player they go to waivers and it means anybody can try and sign that player before he becomes a Free Agent. Alright... Expansion draft looks straight forward. All existing clubs "protect" 12 players and the new clubs pick 1 player from each club that isn't protected. Basically means all teams can protect their starting XI but we might get some good players out of it. Ok now...now you are starting to lose me. Maximum squad salary of 82,000 p/w I knew I should have stuck to Scotland.
  24. I wasn't going to document a save other than the Scotland one. Club management was just suppose to scratch an itch. Then somebody asked me a simple question...Are you going to be supporting St Louis FC when they start? I'm a HUGE St Louis Cardinals fan from the MLB. So my answer was "Hell Yeah" I've not really got a team in the MLS so it felt right to start at the beginning with St Louis FC. So then I got to thinking. Can I manage them on FM? The short answer was YES! St. Louis City SC (stylized as St. Louis CITY SC) is a Major League Soccer expansion franchise that is expected to begin play in 2023. The club will be based in St. Louis, with home matches at Citypark. I should start this by saying...I've never really properly managed in the MLS before. I have dabbled in a the odd season here or there, but never a long term save like this. So I thought I would document my steady decent into madness trying to keep up with the rules and regulations that come with the MLS. There is no goal per say in this save, obviously I want to win the North American Champions League at some point. The one thing that attracted me to this save (other than the soon to be loyality to this football side) was this... The complete and utter blank slate that I will be starting with. We don't enter the MLS until the 2023 season. That gives me an entire year to build a team that is capable of challenging in the MLS. I have 13m and what looks like roughly 300k worth of wage budget to make a team from near scratch. I have no idea how this save is going to go. It might be a complete non-starter but here goes nothing...
