  1. He worked well for me as DLF(a) with Mitro as a poacher. Don't sell him! I replaced him with Zach Clough and Arkadiusz Milik, but it just wasn't the same
  2. Stoke keep getting relegated in my games, too, for some reason. I picked up Shawcross from them for a few million in the second season - bargain. Bartlomiej Dragowski is a cracking young keeper. I got him for under £2m in the first January window because I was sick of Krul's injury problems and within a year he was the better keeper.
  3. Can't say I'm surprised that you're conceding a few with that formation With your BBM running all over the place, your AP drifting all over the place, and your wing backs bombing on you're left a bit... light in defence. The Raumdeutner and Treq won't do much defensively either. You'll need more disciplined roles for the central midfielders at least if you want to tighten up at the back. Wijnaldum is probably suffering because your BPD will generally look to play it long and your BBM will want to run with the ball and get it forward quickly, so he isn't getting enough of the ball. Add that to the fact that he'll be left exposed defensively and he's not going to be effective for you.
  4. I got around £40m in the second season after finishing 7th and winning the League Cup in the first. That got me into the Euro League so the transfer budget may have been a bit lower otherwise.
  5. Thauvin did brilliantly for me in the first season playing as an attacking midfielder behind Ayoze (DLF-A) and Mitrovic (P), who scored over 25 goals each in all comps. Dortmund paid £30m for Thauvin at the end of the first season and unfortunately I also lost Perez. I gave him a new contract in December after some interest from Man Utd, including a £36m release clause which I thought would be pretty safe ... It wasn't I've started a new save with the full release but I'm sure I'll come back to the Toon one soon enough.
  6. Name: Marcelo Meli Age: 23 Nationality: Argentinian Club: Boca Juniors Position: DM, MC (natural), MR Value: ~£3m or so Sale Value: I got him for £3.9m in the second summer window Work Permit Needed?: Gets it Proper South American midfield scrapper.
  7. Already have Diame - Wilson didn't want to come. Tried to get Kara, but he failed to get a work permit. I've had a bid accepted for Javad Nekounam, and I'll look up Mohammed Sissoko. I might have some more money coming in anyway: Ben Arfa's head has been turned by Real Madrid
  8. Any suggestions for a good, cheap defensive midfielder? Got around £3m to spend. I'll have a look at Marc Wilson - might be stretching the 'good' criteria, but I like his versatility.
  9. He does love a shot from distance, doesn't he? I found that playing him as an advanced playmaker helped keep them to a minimum.

  11. In the third season, and all is well on the pitch. With 6 games left to play I'm in 2nd place, 7 points clear of 3rd and in excellent form. Off the pitch: not so good. Still in a considerable amount of debt. I got the wage budget under control, then a couple of contracted wage hikes kicked in. Got the wage budget under control again, then my head of youth development signed a bunch of average-looking youth candidates. To top things off the Health and Safety Commission have closed one of Fratton Park's stands due to poor maintenance. On the bright side, the last repayments on £10mln worth of loans will be paid at the end of May. Hopefully that will leave me with a bit of money to spend so I can ready my squad for life in the Championship.
  12. I know how you feel. I got a 25k p/w wage budget when the new chairman came in in the first season. That was reduced to 18.5k p/w with no transfer budget in the second season. And now, going in to the third season it's been reduced to 16k p/w - again with no transfer budget. A couple of the outstanding loans have now been paid off, so hopefully things will start to get better!
  13. Apparently someone at Chelsea has had a nervous breakdown. This year they've sold El Shaarawy, David Luiz, Juan Mata, Ahmed Musa, David Alaba, Lars Bender, Douglas Costa and Eden Hazard. In return they've brought in Aaron Ramsey, Martin Kelly, and some pretty average regen CB.
