  1. Chorley Football Club: Season 2028/29 Season Expectations / Predictions I set myself the target this season of a good Europa League run, Champions League qualification and a domestic cup win. How would we fare? Board Expectations: The board expected a respectable league finish. Media Prediction: The media believed we would finish 9th. Competitions League Table: On the final day of the season we cemented our place in the Champions League with a fantastic 2-0 win away at Old Trafford. Capital One Cup: 3 tricky away ties culminated in our loss at Everton. FA Cup: Very early exit at the hands of Arsenal. Europa League: 4 minutes away from the final before heartbreak against Spurs. Club Transfers: We didn’t spend much this season but lost 3 key players to bigger clubs – against my wishes! Squad: Some solid performances all round this season. The summer will be about adding quality to the right areas. Finances: Made a tidy profit this season with player sales and Champions League qualification. Player & Staff Profiles Diego Gomez: The rock around which my defence is built. Although big clubs are sniffing around him now so it will be struggle to keep hold of him. Waldemar Scholl: Cheap signing from Dortmund who is turning into a key player. Exceeded expectations in his debut season. Ismail Karakas: Hugely talented player but has his fair share of fitness problems. Worth persisting with though as he is a genius when he plays. Sebastien Robert: Signed for £3m and an absolute bargain! Can play up top or as an inside forward. Deputised for Karakas when injured. Top goal scorer for the season. Next Season This next season I want a good Champions League run, a title challenge and a cup win. Surely it’s only a matter of time now before we bring home some silverware? 2. Just a small update for those who follow - I'm now back playing again (after a 3 month sabbatical) so I will have a new update ready in the next couple of days
  3. Sorry for the lack of updates guys. Had a lot on with work recently but this will get resurrected soon!
  4. They've made a strong start to the new season too! Unbeaten after the first 6 games. They're top of the league after 6 games! They've got a really strong squad and a tycoon from Luxembourg
  5. I managed to get a 20% clause in there. I really doubt they'll sell him though as his potential was very high. In other news I've been handed the following Europa League group for my maiden adventure into Europe;
  6. Even more surprising considering the season before Arsenal won the league and Chelsea finished 3rd! Both clubs have got rid of their managers now though (Arsenal - Gerardo Martino, Chelsea - Ronny Deila) so I predict they'll be back on form next season.
  7. Chorley Football Club: Season 2027/28 Season Expectations / Predictions After last season’s 12th place finish European qualification was the goal this season. Board Expectations: The board expected a mid-table finish. Media Prediction: The media believed we would finish 12th. Competitions League Table: Our goal for the season was achieved and we have firmly established ourselves in the top flight now. Capital One Cup: We played a second string in this competition and lost to a good Stoke side. FA Cup: This was poor and the fans, rightly, were unhappy! Club Transfers: A number of new faces brought in. Unfortunately there weren’t that many games where they actually all played together due to injuries. Squad: I’ve identified the players who will stay next season and those who I wish to move on. Although we will need a bigger squad to cope with the volume of games next season. Finances: Every one of our matches this season sold out. Yet, quite bizarrely, the chairman doesn’t believe we should expand the stadium as there isn’t enough demand! Player & Staff Profiles Diego Gomez: A snip at just £3.8m and, at 25, will only get better. Thomas Quinn: One of my old guard from League 1 who is still getting games and chipping in with vital goals and assists. Ricardo De Mare: A player with huge potential and who I expect to build my team around for years to come. Replaced McGoldrick this season as he again suffered with injuries. Next Season The main aim is to do as well as I possibly can in Europe and to also try and qualify for the Champions League. A cup win also wouldn’t go a miss now. I feel we are in a position where we can challenge for these kind of things now. 8. Who is managing United to do that poorly? Lol
  9. Chorley Football Club: Season 2026/2027 Season Expectations / Predictions We finished a respectable 7th last season. Could we push on this season and qualify for Europe? Board Expectations: The board expected us to stay clear of relegation. Media Prediction: This view was shared by the media… just! Competitions League Table: A disappointing season in some respects. We were comfortable in mid table but never threatened the top 6 at any stage. Capital One Cup: Didn’t do as well as last season and suffered an agonising exit in the 4th round. FA Cup: Got to the 5th round before being knocked out by Everton. Club Transfers: I finally spent some money on transfer fees but not all of them paid off. Oscar Romero was my pick of the bunch. Alex Jakubiak declined quite rapidly this season so ended up selling the club icon. Squad: I stayed faithful to the old guard but I think this is holding me back from progressing. There were some good performances this season but I think many of them have hit the ceiling now. Finances: We made quite a loss this season due to increased wages for some of our key players. We’re still only playing in a 7,631 capacity stadium which is having an effect on our potential income. Luckily we will be playing in a new stadium next season so our attendances should double. Player & Staff Profiles Oscar Romero: My new signing. The full back put in a number of excellent performances this season and looks like one to watch in the future. Barry Crawford: Managed to convince him to sign a new contract and he was as dependable as ever this season. Pat McGoldrick: After a few injury hit seasons he finally had relatively injury free season and looks like fulfilling his potential. Finished the season as our top goalscorer. Next Season In order to make the leap into Europe I am going to have to be ruthless in the transfer market this summer. We will be playing in our brand new stadium so attendances should be double what they were this season. I’ve already identified some players for next season so expect an overhaul of the squad! 10. There's generally a lot of goals scored at that level anyway but, yes, a solid defensive minded midfield player should plug the defence a fair bit. At least you've found a way to combat that particular weakness though - outscore the opposition
  11. The false 9 is primarily seen in single striker formations like you say, but that doesn't mean it can't work or shouldn't be attempted. The role is different to the deep lying striker. While it would look on paper as a deep lying striker the way it plays would not be of a deep lying striker. Much in the same way as a false 9 on his own isn't classed as a deep lying striker because of the way the role is played.
  12. Hannah looks a superb signing for that level. I wish I'd had a striker of his quality in my early Chorley days!
