I took some time last night to figure this out for myself and I now use the right track pad for mouse navigating and left clicks (with R2 as back-up left click). I set up the left pad for 'swipes' with continuous mode (not sure if that's the translation, my Deck is in Dutch). It means that if I swipe up or down, it keeps scrolling until I let go, which is essentially how the scroll function should work. But the scroll function didn't work at all; luckily this does. Also set up left swipes on the left pad to go back, right swipes to go forward and the 'a' button as space bar (continue). Seems to be all I really need. Might look into some shortcuts next for things like squad page and tactics.

Thanks for not responding I guess... But I found what the problem is: it's recruitment focus. My scout had 5 on simultaneously. I switched the responsibility to manager, the assignments ended and from then it went back to a normal speed. Recruitment focus definitely needs to be looked at.

Hi, this is on the Nintendo Switch

Hi, I previously posted this issue on the general touch board. Here it is again at the suggestion of a fellow boarder. Hi, I'm currently in my 4th season and since May of the previous season, the day-to-day rendering has suddenly become REALLY slow. Like +30 seconds to process one day. I know the estimated game speed at startup was 2,5* but for the first 2,5 seasons it moved pretty quickly. Searching for players went a bit sluggish at times, but now the rendering has slowed down enormously as well. Is there something I can still do about that? It's making the game unplayable... Thanks in advance

Sounds great, thanks for the answer. How futureproof do you estimate the steam deck will be? Will it still be able to do that in say 3/4 years' time? Which one did you get? I'm really tempted but I'm wondering if I'd need the step up to the middle version for more storage... but thinking the 64GB one would do if It's mainly just for FM/HP legacy...

Does anyone have extensive experience (which at this point means a couple of seasons I guess) playing FM on the steam deck? How smooth does it run with, say, 3 nations and about 7 leagues? I'm looking into buying the Deck, but FM would be my main driver - if this isn't worth it, the Deck isn't. Also: anyone have any ideas on how futureproof the Deck is regarding FM?

I signalled this issue last year as well and the answer I got was 'delete the game and re-install' - which did nothing to solve the problem. And now it's STILL here? Sounds like someone in software was looking for the easy way out. Had this happening over the last couple of days as well. There's a LOT of issues with the Switch version this year, but none as excrutiatingly infuriating as this one. Sorry for the rant, but this is just too frustrating.

Hi, I have kind of a specific ask: I'm buying a laptop for my freelance (copywriting) activities. Stands to reason that a great typing experience is my n°1 priority, but I'd like to be able to play FM Xbox Edition (I think this is the PC alternative to FM Touch?) as well. In the past I've used a Macbook Air and Dell XPS13 for work and I loved those typing experiences. Newer Macbooks I hear are lesser in that regard and Dell XPS13 is expensive and often times buggy. My challenge is that I want a decent laptop to work on, mainly for typing, and with enough power for FM, but I don't want to spend an extra 500 if I can avoid it, just to get that smooth typing experience... In theory, my budget is around 1000-1200£. Cheers for any tips!

Cool result! Still struggling to get my own AMC up to that standard... Do you mind sharing your roles and duties around him? -
Tips to win Champions league
jens_dewit replied to Triggerusa39's topic in Tactics, Training & Strategies Discussion
I think your tactic might be a bit one dimensional in the am strata with both wingers doing the exact same thing, same for the wing backs. If you're dominating your league you can get away with it but the CL is less forgiving. I'd switch your right IF to a winger and your right WB to a IWB(d) to cover for the mez, as he's a very risky choice in a tactic without a DM. There's probably more you could do but those are the things that stand out to me. -
The Football Manager Playbook Released
jens_dewit replied to Cleon's topic in Tactics, Training & Strategies Discussion
You had a B/R article on you? THAT is impressive. I mean, the book is too, class stuff! Always felt more effective using a balanced mentality instead of higher ones and now I finally understand why that is. Looking forward to digging in and learning a lot more about the basics. Only took me 8 years to get here 😁 Thanks a lot 👍 -
Hi all, In one of my saves I've been using the same system for close to 17 seasons. It's worked quite well so far. Playing in Belgium we won promotion from the 3rd tier in the first season. 3 seasons in second tier before we overpowered the division again and promoted to 1st. Took us about 10 years then to break through and win the title in the 1st division, a couple days before winning the Conference League. Part of that was, I believe, because the play-off system in Belgium caused top teams that consistently reached those play-offs to become very rich and powerful compared to the rest of the league. (Since you have to perform in those play-offs to gain european football.) Another result of that is that the Belgian teams are doing quite well in Europe since they're quite good now - it was difficult to break that glass ceiling. Another part of what made it difficult was that I tend to struggle against the other 3 top teams. And since they make up the only other 3 teams in the play-offs.. that makes it hard to win the title The strange thing is that we didn't have as many problems against them in the first 7-8 seasons in the first division. We managed to beat them regularly, but when we became quite big ourselves, that became a lot more difficult. Long story short: We beat smaller or equal teams easily, with lots of chances. All in all, I can't complain, we're doing well but I guess I'm looking for strategies that could help against those better teams. Here is my tactic (sorry, don't have game screenshots atm. If necessary, I can provide them later today). I stand by it since it also won me the title in just my second season with KV Mechelen in another save (y) Team instructions: balanced, counter-press, close down more, prevent short GK distribution & higher defensive line No PI's I've tried using counter and pass into space against top teams, but that is only effective 50% of the time. I've also tried a F9 instead of the DLF, but he seemed to have less of an impact. Turning the DLF into a AMC(s) helps in one save, but not in another. I have leading to star players (compared to the division) in every position, so we should be able to dominate more than we do, I think. Issues I've noticed myself: we seldom win the possession game, but that's not an objective. However, against top teams we go down to about 35% regularly. Should that worry me? Thanks in advance and let me know if you need more context!

FM22 CM(attack) thread
jens_dewit replied to Jyuan83's topic in Tactics, Training & Strategies Discussion
Which role would you combine a CM(a) with on the flank? When toying around with the role, I always come up with the same conundrum: should I be watchful of overlaps, defensive cover or them taking up the same space? For example: ------IW(s) CM(a) ------FB(a) or: -----IF(a) CM(a) -----FB(s) Is it best to put the CM on attack so he supports the IF(a), while the FB is more conservative to provide cover, yet risking CM and IF running into the same space? Or is the IW the better option as he supports the CM a bit lower, while the FB provides width? But then the risk of taking up the same space persists, I believe. Interested to see your takes on that. Edit: in this scenario I employ a HB to bolster the defense when CM or FB are marauding up the pitch. -

I've been wondering about the treq. What's needed for him to optimally fulfil his duty? Lots of movement around him? Inverted wingers or regular wingers? Inside forwards? And perhaps another question for people like me: what do you see as the optimal performance for a treq? Goals or assists? Pre assists? -
I know it's all relative to the bigger picture, but I'm certain that we all have some go-to setups? For example, I've had amazing results from my AF when paired with a DLF and IF. Like so: ------DLF(s)-----AF IF(A)-----------------W(s) The winger contributes goals and assists as well when I play him against his foot (a lefty on the right side). But the IF easily scores 20+ and the AF 30+ each season. More recently I've had great results with a DLF(a) in front of a SS, but the SS is not really doing a whole lot in terms of scoring or assisting. The DLF though, scores about 30. I'd love to see some of your favourites.

Wise to max out the wage budget?
jens_dewit replied to danej's topic in Tactics, Training & Strategies Discussion
As Freakiie says: depends on the situation. I had a club where in the early seasons we had a budget that was too low to get good players, but still put us in debt and alter, when signing and selling a lot of players and we were flush, they would give me a transfer budget that would put our club nearly a decade back in time if I spent it all... -

Have you ever had good results with a Treq? I'm hesitant as I tried it a couple of years ago, but never got it ticking. I'll give it a run later today and see how that goes. Thanks anyway for the tips.
