  1. Save: Edward Parris - Vauxhall Motors.fm. However, I think any of the saves I've uploaded will include players who meet this criteria; some have been on month-to-months since the end of the first in-game season. If I'm not mistaken, Luke Daley at Matlock has been on a month-to-month for more than two full years despite being unhappy. Iwan Pickward is 'intending to explore his options', but he's already on a month-to-month, and signing him will cost £5k in compensation. Tafara Dube is about to enter his second year on a month-to-month; again, signing him will require compensation. Noah Cooper, Jamie James, Ethan Goulding, Daniel Graham, James Davidson -- there are several. Unless I'm reading the regulation wrongly, training compensation is not due when "the former club does not offer the player a contract" of "at least an equivalent value to the current contract".
  2. A lot of players do decline rapidly when they hit their early 30s. That's a thing that happens IRL regularly. And it can happen very quickly, too. I haven't tested enough to see what happens after the first generation of players is fully retired and the first generation of regens is coming to the end of their careers in the late 2030s. So I don't know what happens when it's regens aging rather than the hand-designed current-gen stars. When I tested, I found that some of today's stars (Kane was one, and I think Immobile was another) were actually seeing net increases from 2023-2027. That seems, uh, unlikely. I think, just as a hunch, that some of this is related to injuries. Players seem very resistant to injury. The last two full seasons I played, I was told I'd had 90% fewer injuries than expected, which squares; I had three injuries, total, in two seasons. IRL, players age, they get injured more often and those injuries compound their decline. If they don't get injured as often in FM, then they won't decline as quickly.
  3. It's a very tough thing to balance, for sure, especially with the changes to young player development emphasizing playing time.
  4. If I'm not mistaken, In the Public Domain means that the reason for his unhappiness is known to the general public. He's talking to the press about it, in other words.
  5. I see it from players who've complained about playing time! It's nuts. I'm bringing you on with 30 minutes left! It's 1-1! Do you want to play or not!
  6. 27:11 -- Roscoe needs to drop back rather than watching the ball sail over his head. 56:46 -- Wilson is assigned to mark Garner. There is an instruction to always press Garner. Wilson is standing off Garner, sort of marking Grewal. I don't understand how this defensive position develops: That's my centerback closing down their right winger, who's super narrow for some reason. My central midfielder (the blond guy in the top left corner) is standing still as his man makes a run. My DLP (Kamara, the player at the top of the center circle) is also moving to close down the right winger for some reason. That develops into this position: why how what who I don't understand what is happening!!!!!! My centerback hasn't moved from his position in the center circle! 85:33 -- hey speaking of which this is Paylor kicking Garner directly in the balls because he's tried to clear a ball with his foot which is over his head. Do players in FM23 have binocular vision? Can they perceive depth? This is also CD Roscoe standing in place as a ball goes over his head, letting someone run past him. This is also an attacking move where a player with 7 First Touch and 6 Technique takes a ball down out of the air and juggles it twice before it touches the ground without breaking stride. 86:12 -- This corner drags on as multiple players refuse to engage attackers who have the ball. Workington v Vauxhall Motors -2.pkm
  7. Sorry -- didn't mean to post this. These timestamps go with this PKM and further timestamp: 65:31 -- Paylor needs to pass to Kamara. He's a playmaker, he's right there. Paylor clears long instead. This turns into a decent through-ball because of the persistent issue with players underestimating the height of balls and trying to head them. I'd be furious if an AI scored this goal against me. I have been furious because it happens a lot. Workington v Vauxhall Motors -2.pkm
  8. 91:20 -- With no one within 30 feet, Williams leaps and twists in mid-air to head the ball back into the middle of the pitch. He has plenty of time and space to let the ball bounce and control it with his feet -- or just let it run for a bit. We're into stoppage time holding a lead and it's from an opposition goal kick; there's no urgency. This turns into an extremely frustrating goal. Workington v Vauxhall Motors -2.pkm
  9. 15:28 -- I'd like Paylor to go to Kamara here (I'd also like Kamara to move a little bit more into the pocket, but.) 15:45 -- I'd like Sloane to stay up a little bit further as the man marking him moves to close down Roscoe to give Roscoe a progressive short passing option. Sloane's hiding behind the defender here. 38:52 -- Hayes drops deep after his goalkeeper clears the ball long in his direction. That concedes possession to the Workington right back. He needs to push up and challenge for this ball. 39:22 -- The team plays out from the back a little bit before hoofing long. For some reason they're playing around the playmaker, who doesn't receive a pass despite being in position to start an attacking move.
  10. 62:17 -- We have a long pass from back to front. For some reason the left centerback cross-matches with the left attacker, leaving the right of the two attackers with a free run. When the attacker wins the header, flicking it on to the left channel, the right centerback takes like three steps to the right, putting himself out of position and further opening the channel. And to add insult to injury, the left centerback jumps under the long pass, which is how the attacker wins it in the first place. Yay. 66:02 -- No seriously what is going on, Wilson jumps to head this pass that is twelve feet over his head. Then he doesn't try clearing the ball when it's loose. 69:45 -- Both centerbacks are marking the attacker in the center, no one goes with the guy on the far post, and the right back, whose man it is, is jogging in midfield. What do I have to do to make these players run? Workington v Vauxhall Motors.pkm
  11. It's annoying that there's a whole popup about how you're going to be giving your team the silent treatment if you leave the dressing-room screen without selecting an option, but you don't actually give your team the silent treatment.
  12. 76:47 -- How is the defense going from here: to here: Why does Paylor run infield when his starting position is directly in front of the attacker who has the ball? Where's he going, what's he trying to accomplish? Whitley Bay v Vauxhall Motors.pkm
  13. Not just IF -- IWs were pretty bad. In the tactic I used I looked for attacking playmakers with two strong feet to play that role, because physical dribblers didn't leverage their attributes. The best use of IWs I found was to put them on support with a Stay Wider instruction and have them act as wide players for underlapping midfield runners.
  14. 34:30 -- How are we going from the first screenshot to the second one? What do I have to do to make my players actually run? That's four players who look like they're trying to close down the guy with the ball, and one who's literally just stood still for five seconds, while three players waltz through the middle of the pitch. And the one defender who's back? When the cross comes in, he gets out of the way. Vauxhall Motors v Whitchurch Alport.pkm
  15. It's still extremely difficult to drag a player into position to turn a flat midfield 2 or centerback pairing into a flat 3-man midfield or back 3. This was an issue in FM22 as well. Unless the drag is extremely precisely targeted to an area that's difficult to see exactly, you'll just end up swapping players between positions. I've spent two minutes just trying to move a DM back into the backline before. The system on the old tactics screen actually scooted the other two players to the sides, making it much easier.
  16. It's probably just another element of scouting that doesn't work correctly.
  17. Player's mad after dropping a 5.7 and being fined. And I can only start the exchange with "I hear you wanted to talk? Let's go!" LET ME TELL HIM HE'S TERRIBLE AND IF HE DOESN'T IMPROVE I'M GOING TO CANCEL HIS STUPID CONTRACT, because he's terrible and if he doesn't improve I'm going to cancel his stupid contract!
  18. 14:49 -- Where the HELL is the left back Robinson going? 23:38 -- How is my defense going from here: to here: Why in the world is the centerback just not sprinting back? How is a 70 CA midfielder playing a curled outside-of-the-boot chipped through ball on the move through two defenders? 67:00 -- Why THE [FORK] is my centerback trying to close down THEIR centerback 45 yards away? Why does it take my defensive midfielder two seconds and 20 feet of separation to turn around and start running? 71:23 -- WHY IS THE RIGHT-BACK TRYING TO SLIDE-TACKLE A BALL TO HIS FEET JUST [FORKING] KICK IT 73:33 -- Why is Paylor moving infield and not tracking his man? Why does the goalkeeper just run out with his arms at his sides? He doesn't even try to save the shot! 91:49 -- WEHAT THE ACUTAL HELL IS PAYLOR DOING HE DUCKS UNDER A WAIST-HIGH CROSS I'm sorry, guys, but when people complain that your game is scripted, this kind of stuff is what they're talking about. Why in the hell is a 6'3 central defender bending down to head a ball at his knees when it's going to hit him in the chest? Why is a left back running 15 yards upfield when his team doesn't have the ball? This crap is unplayable! There's nothing I can do to fix this tactically! There's no 'please don't slide-tackle a ball that's played straight to your feet in the penalty area' button I can press tactically! Somehow my goalkeeper, who has conceded seven goals from 2.5 xG, has a 6.3 rating. James Paylor, who is in four of those ejaculations above, has a 6.6 rating despite a yellow card and being the captain of a defense that just conceded seven goals. He attempted one tackle and was unsuccessful! But also he has a key tackle. What your statistical output is telling me doesn't match what I'm seeing on the pitch at all. It's a complete waste of time. this game sucks.pkm
  19. A thing that's weird is that I often see players whose body language is "Would have preferred to stay on the bench", even when they're coming on in close games or with significant amounts of time remaining. But I've never seen a player come on really motivated to make an impression, even when they're a squad player who could, with a good performance, jump up the hierarchy into the first eleven.
  20. If anyone wants it, here's a potentially interesting save. It picks up just after the end of the Premier League season in 2026. Manchester City have edged Liverpool, winning the title on the final day. Newcastle and Arsenal round out the Champions League places. United sacked Eric Ten Haag in November 2025 with the team sputtering along in the bottom half. His replacement, Ruud van Nistelrooy, failed to get the team firing at all, and they spent the rest of the season trying to get out of 17th. Ultimately, by drawing with 5th place Chelsea on the final day combined with a Southampton loss, United successfully avoided relegation. They were a little unlucky, underperforming xG, xGA and expected points, but their true performance level was only 14th. United's squad has a lot of familiar names: Dean Henderson in goal, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Varane, Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, and Luke Shaw in defense; Casemiro, Hannibal, Amad Diallo and Shoretide in midfield; and Antony, Garnacho and Charlie McNeil in attack. Sancho, Martial, Elanga and Marc Jurado are still at the club but out on loan. Duvan Zapata was United's top scorer with six Premier League goals. Adrien Rabiot is a midfield option as well. Mehdi Taremi is an option in attack. Khephrem Thuram partners Casemiro in midfield and is the club's vice-captain. In the save, van Nistelrooy is under contract for two more years, but based on his performance there's no justification for keeping his job. https://www.mediafire.com/file/lmvxgkb7nmlaye0/ManU_Almost_Relegated.fm/file
  21. If the squad planner is here to stay (and I suppose it is, though I really prefer the old Squad Depth screen), I'd really like the ability to filter out players who are at the club on trial. It's a big oversight that makes using the planner quite difficult in LLM saves.
  22. As an Arsenal fan who had to deal with what felt like a decade of Xavi Hernandez running his fat mouth about Cesc's Barcelona DNA, the only surprise is that it's not Barca doing the tapping-up.
