Yup, £200m to spend with a mid table Prem team.
Going with a 343 - need some advice on a left sided BPD with pace, got Kounde from Seville, Weigl as Libero, so need the 3rd to round it off. A few deals about to go through, but some help filling the gaps:
Pope
Kounde Wiegl ???
???WBR Digne
Ruben Neves Willock
Zivkovic Saint Maximin
Calvert-Lewin
That right winger is bugging me too - ideally want someone more central as a goal threat, but Isco says no, Coutinho says no and my scouts aren’t finding anything.
Gone with Trippier at RWB and Dele at AMC. Digne did his ACL so have withdrawn from that and got Ryan Sessegnon on loan.
After all that, got 12m and 70k left on the budgets for a LCB. Thought I had Akanji but he signed a new deal at Dortmund, and his agent told me “it was a no brainer to choose Dortmund over Newcastle.” 🙃

Tallest player or someone with heading attribute of 17+ attacking the near post, whipped crosses aimed at near post = lots of goals. Issa Diop was my guy in FM20, got over 10 goals in 3 consecutive seasons. Pogba got the job done in FM21.
Also have your best striker standing on the far post to tap in any rebounds from the near post header.
Defensively set up your 2 quickest players, usually wingers and full backs, to stay forward and the 3rd quickest to the edge of the box for the quick counter attack.

I remember FM 19 or 20 being told that a team wouldn’t offer me a job because of the high amount of compensation they would have to pay (and basically inducing me to resign and/or ask my team to lower the price) so there was some sort of mechanism for teams to know your worth.

In my scout report for Nick Pope it was said that Burnley would be willing to sell for a lower fee due to financial difficulties - maybe Real Madrid are going broke?

Woah lads - lost my password and am now only seeing this 😂
If still interested Hertha were a great team to manage, with time given especially in the first season. I resigned after a 3rd, 2nd, 3rd place league finish with a bad start in the 5th season. That the team have gone on to win the league in 4 of the next 6 seasons doesn’t bother me one bit….

No, Maier took the huff mid way through season 2 so got rid.

So, as the title says:
Jean Phillipe Mateta (ST) - goal machine, was league top scorer for Mainz (?) so I had a gander in my rebuild transfer window & got him for £25m. 3 seasons in a row with 30+ league goals (2 seasons with me)
Lirim Kastrati (RW) - 20 pace, I stumbled into playing him as a PF in a 2 with JPM and it’s a partnership. Top tip - set him to lurk outside your box when defending a corner and watch him fly when your CB heads it clear!
Nic Stark (CB) - was already at Hertha, oh captain my captain. Pace, strength, aerial dominance in both boxes.
Altay (GK) Turkish, can’t and won’t try to spell his last name. 6’4”, high reflexes, quick off his line, catches 99.9% of crosses, and has a ridiculous amount of assists from over the top of defence passes to Kastrati.
Kerem Demirbay (AP) signed him in the Jan ‘22 window as Camavinga was at the World Cup and I thought he would need a rest, £15 from Leverkusen who weren’t playing him. Fekir picks up and ankle injury the day KD signs so I slip him into the hole and WOW. 15 league games = 18 assists. Yup. 4 Champions League games = 6 assists. Dead ball and through ball master.

Man beat me to it - Pickford the perfect example. Arms get smaller as he goes for crosses.

I’m Hertha Berlin, and the first season I had the objective of building a new stadium from the board - but again the “increase in attendance” argument was made, I’m averaging 50,000 in a 70,000 seater (and the average has increased over my 3 seasons).
Needed a convince option about reducing capacity to fit demand methinks.

I use it when losing/drawing with mid-lower end of the league teams, or when I’ve been outplayed and taking a 3/4/5-0 shilacking.
I have also used it when 2-0 against the bottom of the league team, but having only 2 shots on goal and being outplayed - the players didn’t like it, but used their anger to win 6-1 overall with 2 goals (and 1 disallowed) in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half.

Well, I always shut up shop and stick 20 pace Lirim Kastrati up front with a pass into space tactic - so I’m usually the one scoring late.

He’s just gone to Liverpool for £95m at the end of my 2nd season - which seemed a low price so....

So, the title of the post is meant tongue in cheek - am up to second international break in Season 2 of my Hertha Berlin save, first 29 league games of S1 were ‘eclectic’ to say the least - it was truly a COVID season of football, 11th in the league but 4 points of the relegation zone.
But going 3w 2d in the last 5 games, convincing the board not to sack me for finishing 12th and a massive rebuild brings me to where we lie.
A big undefeated run to start the season, top of the league, then...Football Manager as I know it!
A news e-mail about how I’m about to break a winning streak record (always spells disaster and defeat) and then a game against bottom of the league Werder....🤦🏻♂️0 -
Ozil for Hertha Berlin, on loan.
*Got eem, and Vinicius Jr too. First game played, Ozil drops deep topic, up the ball from my Lib, spins and plays in VJ on the left wing, VJ whips it in for Piatek to drill home. It’s gonna be a gooooood year....

Currently on a one club save with Motherwell trying to get the Champions League. Been offered a ton of jobs in EPL and turned them all down including the big 6. Strangely, despite my domestic success, I've never even been linked with the Old Firm or Scotland national job which I've found odd.
Does Turnbull ever get improved stamina?!?

I remember Spurs getting relegated only 4 seasons in, this was probably FM 18. Thus begun the greatest season in my FM career - applying and getting that job, having £150m to spend in the Championship, having Dele Ali, Son and for the second half of the season Kane (loaned him out for first half cos he wanted to leave, but recalled him on January 1 and he never asked to leave again!) 42 wins 1 draw, 3 defeats.
Good times...

I get a lot of interview requests, without applying, when without a club. When with a club unapplied interview requests are a rarity, but most applied for gets me an interview.
Although a nice touch I thought, after 3 seasons with Everton and consistent 5th/6th/5th finishes plus a few QF/SFs in all cups I thought good career progression is to go for a 'Big 4' job if available - Man City sack manager (they were 3rd/4th/7th) so I apply pretty confident I'd be in the running. Get the response after a couple of weeks that I won't be interviewed because despite meeting all criteria with regards to style of play and player development I had never won a trophy!

I'm sure the topic of game users being Director of Football has been discussed before but my idea may be new I dunno.
Say I've managed for 8-10 years at a top league club, been successful and decide to resign and take a break from management. Now also say in my first season I hired a young coach and he (or she, copyright James Acaster) and after 8-10 years under my learning true they are offered a managerial post and:
NEW FEATURE
As I am out of work (the key component to this feature) a coach I have a relationship with offers me the Director of Football position. Job specs can be set out like the club vision section of FM20 (he may want you to handle all transfers and contracts only, or do that plus run the development centre, and can choose if you are to give tactical advice or not).
I am aware that setting yourself up as a DoF can be done in game already, but my idea is being officially contracted as a DoF, which the catches being an existing relationship with the club manager, being out of work (or being asked by your current club to move upstairs) and have a specific number of seasons played in game.
So, now internet - tell me why with as little detail as possible how bad my idea is!

I play this game so much that sometimes I just space bar through and space out at certain points, especially just before a match starts. Ask assistant to handle the team's pre match briefing and let's get to match-day. But upon closer inspection I noticed something queer - without fail, every day before a match I'll get 2 unread news items:
1) Pre-match team briefing
2) [players name here] injured in training
It's uncanny how there is always and I mean ALWAYS an injury in training the day before a match. 95% of the time it's a minor 1-2 day job but there have been multi-month muscle, cruciate ligament dealios.
So is this an anomaly or are other players having this happen?
(I have tried a whole host of different training methods in the day before a game and this makes zero difference)

So, post Brexit squad registration rules are a pain in the butt-ox. I'm in my 4th season, currently overachieving at Everton & have my eye on the Chelsea job at the end if the season (their manager is 72 and his contract is up, he HAS to go surely?!?) and perusing their squad, they've got Erling - now:
Born in Leeds, England. Doesn't have English nationality.
Can this be right?

Welp, transfer window closed - my line up with subs:
Pope
Kounde Weigl Sule
Trippier Lewis
Ruben Neves Willock
Dele Saint Maximin
Calvert-Lewin
Subs: Umtiti, Schär, Sessegnon, Longstaff, Shelvey, Zivkovic, Almiron, Wilson, Woodman
Squad: Lacelles, Fraser, Murphy, Hayden, Dummett.
4 games in (Beta is so sloooow on my machine, same as last year); PL W2 (4-1 v Palace away, 5-0 v Wolves home, 2-2 West Ham away) and 3-0 v Huddersfield away LC.
Kounde scored 2 on his debut, Schär scored 2 in 2 games then missed a pen in the LC to make it 3/3. The 2-2 draw v West Ham I was 2-0 up after 15 minutes.
Sule and Umtiti were deadline day signings after DoF Overmars shared some agent offers. Found it near impossible to sell players - board kept cancelling deals for Fraser to leave so I missed out on signing Lacroix before the West Ham game.
Gonna wait for the full game next week to continue - game is too slow in beta for me, so this international break could take days.
