  1. Have to say it's Find it so disappointing to see that despite the vocal opinions being displayed here, only one topic exists in the Beta match engine bug forum thus far.... I've posted my 2 cents over there and will follow it up with some PKM's and some data later, would be great if this leads to a tweak before the final patch is made public.
  2. Since updating the Beta I've seen more through balls than before and a bit of better movement from the strikers and plenty of clear cut chances being created but not converted. I'm noticing a lot of blocked shots, woodwork and keepers making saves. Some of these have been down to my players striking right at the goalkeeper (Man Utd with players with high decisions/composure etc). Most goals now come from FKs, Corners....The odd open play goal will come from a great counter but I've yet to slice open an opposition team who are camping in their own half trying to defend for their lifes which with United is majority of teams I face! This is what I believe is creating the shortage of goals, striker movement and players passing forwards isn't great but I don't believe it's the issue right now. Players not making good shots (straight at the keeper) and the ping pong collision of shots into defenders/straight at keepers is a cause. Woodwork also seems to be an issue, In every match since updating my team hits the woodwork at least once. Many matches both teams are hitting the woodwork alot. I had one game where I hit it 4 times and my opponents hit it twice. I'll provide some evidences and PKMs from my matches later (in work now). I'm also started a new game completely with this update and plan on holidaying through the season and reviewing all data at the end. I'll provide SI with some insight from my research. Just want to also note, that for me the match engine has gotten better in this update and if frequency of goals can can go up by improving conversion rate of CCC or tweaking shots being blocked it will be the best engine in a long while for my reckoning....My main concern is that this is just too much to fix for this game and we go back to the cycle of waiting for FM20 and hoping the shortcomings in that Match Engine (there will always be problems in them) aren't enough to kill the game....For me though as right now, having strikers that don't score in open play is ruining things for me.
  3. I love the new Training Module in FM19. However, I think an improvement could be made to the Match practice slot. Similar to the pre-season friendly against reserves when taking over a club. Allow this to be a slot to actually experiment with the match engine. Let me take over and review this match. This could be highly beneficial if I want to try something new to counter the opposition. I can set my team up and see how well this works on the field. Similar, I know my team struggle against a certain formation. I can set up a match practice to play against this formation. Alternatively this could be an opportunity to allow me to invite other teams to play against my team in a behind closed doors friendly?
  4. I'd love to see more staff roles being included in the game. Perhaps Kitmen also, most kit men though are just general members of the local community the club originates from and I don't propose that SI researches into every clubs kitman, but perhaps create generic / newgens for this role. Probably way too complex to code but if your kitmen has a good marketing attribute he could rotate your teams kits so as to help create more exposure and then higher merch sales. Sports Psychologsts/Nutrition Specialis/Tactical Analys could be useful also. Psychologists could help focus and prepare players for big games or helping focus lower mentality players when they get distracted as well as helping to train players mental stats. Nutrition experts could help players physical stats such as recovery after games/injuries and or for example you have a player too light/weak who plays CB, and is getting knocked around. Request the nutriotion expert helps beef him out which could then aid his strength development. Tactical Analysts could be used to give you the breakdown on your next opposition, review last matches, help you the manager work on your tactics. I believe all clubs these days have these roles employed in the club and FM should have them also.
  5. I don't even think United could make that amount for soft drink partnership and they're the king of sponsors!!
  6. I think they are aware that it's more prevalent in right backs. To me this is the worst fault of the game. I tested with 2 players playing a game at right back. One a natural and one who was rated as uncomfortable. The natural got a 7.8 rating in one half, the uncomfortable got a 8.2 in the second half (and got man of the match) despite the fact I got beat. LB can be a problem also...but RB is consistent. In my 1st holiday save. Richards, Bellerin, Zabaletta and Clyne were in the top 8 for highest average ratings.
  7. I only brought that up as an example based on the previous poster asking if I ever owned a car or cooker, and if I expected a free update everytime there was an advance in technology. I've since recieved an infraction for that statement despite the fact I didn't compare FM to a Car. I just used an example that was very much valid to a post indicated at me. I'm done talking about this. I used to have good convos on these forums, now I seem to be a trouble maker.
  8. Please point out to me where I indicated that too many crossed goals worries me equally with cracking my head off a steering wheel? I don't believe I did. I used it as a relevant example in relation to another post unless I've missed something in my post?
  9. "Do you own a car, a cooker? When safety improvements are made to the new designs you don't get them automatically - but why? You bought a year 20xx model so why are you not getting the benefits of the 200xx+1 model?" Improvements in technology are different than acknowledged flaws. SI has acknowledged that there is problems which they are investigating, with the view to fixing in FM17. My 2005 Nissan Almera recently got a callback because of a fault in the airbag. This was after 11 years, they realised there was a manufacturing fault and wanted the car returned to a dealership so they could investigate and correct any issues. Nissan don't call me if they have a breakthrough in new developments and give me the latest update nor would I expect them to. I do agree with the "where do you stop?" But I would point out in my opinion, there seems to be more people complaining of more issues in this years final product than any other version passed. Usually by the last patch we have some users complaining of some little issues. This year we have people complaining about the issue with crosses, people complaining about AI rotation or my own biggest gripe the FB ratings being overpowered. It is impossible for SI to please everyone and I've never had issues before, but I'm not playing FM16 and I don't plan on buying FM17. I'm obsessed with this game and it feels like a hole in my life knowing that this could be the last game I play, certainly going to be difficult getting through the summer months.
  10. I've give up on complaining on the issues in the game and got into a childish fight with a moderator which was wrong of me. I said I wouldn't say another word on this issue but but I did read a great suggestion. How about when they fix the match engine for FM17 they patch FM16 with the new match engine changes? Something like that could only win back fans. FM for me is the only thing I'm guaranteed to buy year in / year out. However, I won't be buying 17 based on my inability to enjoy 16...If 16 gets a patch even if it's October, I'd likely buy the game again. Saying that the problems are being reviewed and being worked on for future versions is not right, I appreciate that it is a complicated fix and resources must be allocated to the next version at this stage. But after purchasing this game, to hear that it's going to be fixed is brilliant, but to get the fixes I have to buy a new game? What did my investment in this years get me.
  11. Now we can't evaluate how many people are experiencing the same issues (out of 27 people who voted 66.66 have experienced the issues) that indicates that it's not a small spread of players experiencing it. Maybe a small spread of users feel it's game breaking, and game breaking is a matter of personal preference which isn't an accurate value for research purposes, (I'm a researcher for a living) research should always be based on facts and personal opinion should never be used as an overall method of gauging anything. However, the majority are experiencing the problem. I don't really think any issue is truly game breaking, all of them together though make it unenjoyable. First FM ever where I've ever had so many issues left in the final game, and this is why I won't gamble on paying for a game that I worry won't please me next year again. A lot of people who don't post on the forms are possibly casual gamers or just don't care about the net...I know a lot of my friends who still play it aren't as hardcore into the game as I still am. They play it but don't really pay attention to anything unless its a crash. Unfortunately for me, the game is unplayable and it seems to be one of the best games in a long time which is even more frustrating for me. None of the issues make it unplayable by themselves, but all added up. It's not a realistic game for me. Issues I can't look past: Crosses, I've adjusted my tactics as best I can, but it's still happening at times for both myself & AI....And then the AI games are crossfests...This I can ignore. FBs ratings/assists, this is probably hand in hand with the crossing issues. In the PREM league. 4 out of top 10 are full backs, I holidayed for 10 years and a FB has one one of the end of year awards in every situation. As I don't have time to watch matches I usually just stick to key highlights and try my best to follow the commentary but I depend on the ratings for seeing if my players are having a bad day. In one game, Darmian cost my team 3 goals but assisted 1 (dodgy crossing) but still managed a 7.4 rating. I analysed this and the amount of times he was caught out of position, gave away the ball or missed a tackle / interception was incredible. I'd have subbed him out if the rating showed he was struggling as I was narrowly holding a lead....but as his rating looked good I kept him on and in the last 20 minutes he fell apart and cost us 2 goals which cost us the game. Having a broken rating system is a huge issue....but not surprising considering we have a flawed match engine also. AI lack of Squad Rotation: So many players are playing the full 38 games a season in the league which is not common in this day and age even for smaller clubs (GKS aisde). One or two players at every club might make the full 38 games but most teams are having either half or over half play the full 38 games....This then leads to incredible stats for goals. Jamie Vardy played 38 times and scored 42 goals in the Premier League, Romelu Lukaku played 38 and scored 36, Vardy is having a wonderful season IRL, I looked into the game and he managed to score a few hat tricks /braces but he also went a lot of games without goals. If he didn't play every game his goal tally would have been more realistic and probably more closer to the 30 goal mark. Pretty much the same with Lukaku. For me, the 1st one is an annoying pain which I shouldn't have to compromise my ideal playing style to address, but it's no big deal. The second two kill realism, having so many players playing full games which affect their goal tallys/development of other squad players as well then impacts on long term games. For me, it's a sad day that I can't play my favourite game, but I've noticed a growing trend that every year the game has more and more issues which are not being addressed in final patches. I'm done with FM17 though, the whole we'll fix it for 2017 is a joke. I paid for FM16, telling me FM17 will be brilliant is a disgrace. Are you going to give me 17 free based on the fact I can't play 18... Even at that...FM17 is likely to have it's own newn problems that won't be fixed until FM18... I understand they are complex problems. But perhaps they should have been more focused on improving what they have rather than adding a pointless feature like manager appearance. I long miss the days where all we had was text commentary."
  12. I take that on board and point well made. Everything in my previous post still stands. I know my refusing to shell out the £40 next year or any other years won't hurt SI games in the slightest.

  14. Another interesting thing I've discovered whilst holidaying to test the long term game....United signed Saido Behrahino for 18.5 million in August 2017, sold him in January 18 for 10.5, only to buy him back again for 15.25 in June 18. I checked his form with his club he joined after United, thinking he had perhaps shown incredible form. But he played 2 times for Spurs in those 6 months....Scoring no goals.
  15. How do you go about editing to help out, improving managers stats, like what ones? I'm happy to give it a shot, not ideal but at least I can still play my favourite game and having a challenge is what I like. After holidaying two saves, I'm finding another problem that won't ruin the game but made it terribly unrealistic. Full backs ratings, Hector Bellerin won Footballer of the year. Good player but he's never going to win that award, especially not in a season, where Lukaku scores 36 goals in a premier league season, grabs 13 assists and single handedly almosts fires Everton to 3rd in the premier league. Holidaying my second season and in October the top 10 rated players, 4 of them are full backs. Bellerin again is second in the rating.
  16. I'm sorry, I hate to be part of the complain brigade. I've been playing FM since it was still CM, every year without fail. My favourite game that I can easily spend a full 12 months playing before I move onto the next version. This year I've been bitterly dissapointed to the point where I actually felt quite miserable about knowing I cant get the same enjoyment out of this years game. The crossing issues isn't a huge problem. I can counter that with my tactics. The fact that AI managers seem to always pick the same players is ridiciolous bug that is going to affect short term and long term games. Long term games tend to get too easy because of the lack of AI development. However with the fact that the AI always plays the same 11 means that longer term players aren't developing due to lack of game time and short term, it's much easier to win because my players are fresh because I manage the squad. I've holidayed through a full season, and checked in every month. So many times every team had half the squad wih RST icons beside players, this then leads to injuries which leads to weakened teams. At the end of 1 season, squad players in PREM league games are recording appearances in single figures....few maybe hit double figures. I've never noticed this before, in previous games...but to me this is killing realism for me, and will really hinder long term games even more than they can be now. Anybody who wants to defend the game, do me a favour and don't waste your time, I'm delighted you're happy with the game....I'm posting my feedback/opinion. Considering I'll not be playing FM16 this year, I'll maybe have enough time without the game to put me off my obsessions with buying it every year on release day. To me, the game is getting weaker year in year out and I might have to rethink my loyalty to this game. An interesting thought. Because I'm so let down with this game I had a look at other management games to give them a shot. Appears that there is no direct rival to these games anymore. CM/Fifa Manager are all discontinued. Perhaps the lack of competition has made SI lazy. ironic though, because when those companies were around, there was no competition as FM was always head and shoulders above the others.
  17. I had considered changing the Right back to attack, but I only want Darmian to push forward when relatively risk free which he is doing. The way I view my play is Mata can be penetrative from the right in a deeper position but via diagonal or sideway balls and this is happening....I'm wondering if my prob In regards to the regista, I had considered changing Carrick to a HB to help the defence, but teams aren't creating much chances against me...and my full backs are getting forward, perhaps I will try this and this will help my team not being so deep. I think the key to solving my problem is by tweaking / finding the balance from Carrick (RGA), Mata (WPMS) or Rooney (DFD). Problem is, I'm happy with the way each of them are playing in the purpose I want. Mata is linking up players from a narrow wide position, Rooney is putting pressure on defenders whilst ot of possession and Carrick is doing his best to play the possession play I want. I will try your suggestions and perhaps try Mata with a more attacking mentality.
  18. Hi Cleon, been a big fan of your work for a number of years. First time I've ever felt obliged to post in one of your threads however. This year I'm struggling with trying to build a possession tactic, I have certain elements of it working the way I want, but certain other elements are just not clicking. Here's how I currently line up with Man Utd. -----------------------------------De Gea (GK-D)---------------------------------- Darmian (FB-S)-----Smalling (CB-D)------Blind (BPD-D)---------Shaw (WB-A) ---------------------------------------Carrick (RGA-S)----------------------------- Mata (WPM-S)---------Schneiderlen (B2B-S)------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------Herrera (APM-S)-------Depay (IF-S) ---------------------------------------Rooney (DF-D)------------------------------ Team is set up: Structured, Control TI's are as follows: Normal Defensive Line, Narrow play, Low Tempo, Mixed Passing, Look for Overlap, Close Down More, Prevent Short GK Distribution and Play out of Defence. My only player instructions are for my Two wide defenders to stay wider, Luke Shaw is also encouraged to run at players more. What I want to do is keep the tempo low, and control the game but I don't want my players to be too restricted in passing, I want to build out from the back I want my wide attackers to bring the play inside, whilst encouraging overlapping runs from my full backs. In defence I want my team to be compact which will make us harder to break down and want to ensure the other team doesn't build from the back also. Having a defensive forward in this method helps. I'm struggling to control possession, and in certain games I'm struggling to even create penetrative football. Things that are working well. Shaw / Depay are working well together on the left flank, Shaw getting forward on the overlap and putting crosses in, unfortunately his crosses are hit/miss but that's down to the player rather than tactics IMO, I'll work with him on that. Rooney is coming deep as I want him to be and is putting pressure on the defence when out of possession, in possession, he's holding the ball up and more often than not he's linking with Mata / Depay on the flanks which stretches the play and creates opportunities with either full back getting forward or else Schneiderlin & Herrera offering support in middle. Carrick is also playing well, he's the key to my system and his passing is top notch. Mata is roaming around and finding space and to me is playing how I want him to play, not stuck out wide and attempting to beat players but floating inside and picking off passes. I'm struggling to control possession, and I believe it's because my team is too deep. Herrera / Schneiderlin aren't doing what I want, I believe Schneiderlin should be moving up and down with play, but he often seems to be running around like a headless chicken. Herrera is getting on the ball, but his passing has been shocking, perhaps because there's no movement from him, but my complaint with him is that he isn't getting into goal scoring chances. Previous years, I've often struggled to play penetrative / possession football, but this year I'm struggling to play either or.
  19. Apologies, I felt a bit dismissed because of the Tactics being the issue spiel. My post wasn't to do with tactics just to do with my team crushing the opposition with them offering little to no threat which is killing the game a little. I've also tried switching to contain with no shouts and I'm still overpowering them. Will provide some games later if this helps. Also my other note of the bizzare scorelines such as N/Castle in poor form with injuries beating a full team Chelsea in good form 5-0!! Of course a resilient side could beat a giant team 1 or 2-0 but a 5-0 drubbing is a bit of a step to far!! The overall problem for me though is me crushing AI teams and rotation players complaining of not playing enough football and then throwing a strop when I try to explain that they need to keep their head down and work hard for the chance, this is a player who has played about 80% of my games so not like he's in and out every week!!. Herrera has completely turned against me now and causing issues with the squad. I can understand his need to ask for more football but if he's a rotation player and I tell him he can't get anymore football than I'm giving him he shouldn't be so quick to hate me, yes he can be miserable but not to the point where he alienates the entire team! Again apologies if I was harsh with my rebuttal! First time ever I've had a complaint about this game post January patch which ruins the immersion for me
  20. I'm sorry, was my post not feedback related? I didn't say I was unhappy with my tactics? Despite it not working the way it should. I'm still battering opponents with 20-30 shots per match compared to opponents 2-3. No matter who I play, Chelsea, Stoke, Burnley, Arsenal. If I play against a team who would either control, attack, counter or contain. The shots are still heavily in my favour. I listed my tactics to show that my players weren't overloaded with attacking mentalities / roles. Also, what about the point about player complaining about first team football. Is this a feedback thread or a not say anything negative about the game? For the record, I think it is an excellent game and love the micro managing details but the actual football side of it isn't as enjoyable as it used to be because it seems that it's impossible for me to lose.
  21. I'm sorta seeing ME issues also. I'm trying to play a control ball retention strategy and but I'm losing possession battle by about 10-15% each game. However in this, I'm still having difficulties with overpowering my opposition. I'm in work so don't have my game details to hand but of the top of my head I'm having my opponent beat me in the possession battle by above figures, however with all this possession my opponents are usually going through a game with about 4-5 shots and lucky if one of them is on target and I'm having 30-40 Shots and a good percentage of these are on target. I'm only winning games 2 or 3-0 having had any insane 7-0 games but still not enjoyable destroying opponents. My team is Man Utd and I'm playing a 5-3-2 as follows: De Gea - GoalKeeper (Defend) Rafael - Wing Back (Attack) Jones - Central Defender (Defend) Carrick - Ball Playing Defender (Cover) Rojo - Central Defender (Defend) Shaw - Wing Back (Support) Blind - Deep Lying Playmaker (Support) Fellaini - Roaming Playmaker (Support) Herrera - Advanced Playmaker (Support) DiMaria - Raumdeuter (Attack) Van Persie - Deep Lying Forward (Support) Rooney - False Nine My tactics are control highly structured and my tactical shouts are as follows: Retain Possession Pass Into Space Play Out of Defence Work Ball Into Box Very High Defensive Line Be More Disciplined Stick To Positions Close Down More Lower Tempo Only 2 attacking players and a very slow methodical gameplan, yet I'm losing the possession battle, but still battering the opponents. Not sure why my system is translating into such unusual stats of a game but it's killing the enjoyableness of the game. I'd much rather win a nervy edgy game 1-0 with my gameplan then win 2-3-0 with the opposition having very little impact on my team. The other bug is the players complaining. Herrera has so far played 18 (Starting 15) out of 25 games for me, he missed 3 games due to picking up a red card and the other games have been because he's been rested. I left him out for 2 games after the red card and only brought him on as a sub in these games (partly to teach him a lesson and also my team was doing well without him and also because he was a bit unfit after missing the 3 games due to United's easy schedule this season). He also refuses to speak to me because our relationship has broken down because of his "lack of first team football". Strange results are also happening! Chelsea just got recently beat 5-0 by Newcastle who hadn't won in 6 games and Chelsea were unbeaten in 5 and had only conceded 3 goals in 7 games. I can usually overlook strange results like this because everything else in FM is top notch but between players, me overpowering opponents, I'm not liking this years game and I'd say is the first time I've been let down with FM in my years as playing (Since CM days!!!)
  22. I'm noticing the players complaining bug a lot also. 4 games into the season, Ander Herrera had played 3 and sat on the bench for one, he complains about gametime. I ignore but play him next one, others in the squad complain because I gave into his demands. (I didn't, I always intended to play him in the next match) Now 7 games in, Ander has played 5 and came on as a sub in one. He's complaining again. I also decided to talk to him, but got no options of telling him "to get on with things and let me worry about picking the team", now a key player of mine who I'd expect to play 30 odd games a season wants to leave because he's missed one game.
  23. I've done a holiday save and the quality of regens is significantly better as in them getting playing time and the distribution of stats. My only concern is AI teams make some weird/stupid transfer decisions.
  24. Hi, I'm in a holiday game to see how AI squads develop over the years. In the middle of this, I've noticed something against Testimonials. Attendances seem to be very low. For example. Vidic plays his testimonial against Red Star and the attendance is 23k. I'm sure Old Trafford would be full for Vidic's testimonial. This might have something to do with opposition choice also. Perhaps Red Star wouldn't be a huge draw, and this is why many players don't pick former players as the opposition for testimonials. They usually pick teams who'll bring huge support (Celtic always used to get picked by English clubs for testimonials) or opponents who they've had memorable games against (Neville against Juventus). Although I'm sure this method would be hard to make work. My next discovery is who do players pick for testimonials if they've been at the club their whole careers. I did notice Jonny Evans picked Sunderland though. (This was his loan club)
  25. Just holidayed Oct 2015 and my initial fear is long term games are going to be as messed up as ever. Aug 2013 - Oct 2015 Theo Walcott has 4 games Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has 8 games Raheem Sterling has just 2 games. My other main concern is Arsenal sold Aaron Ramsey for 25.5 million to Man City in Summer 2014 and he's played just 12 games since then. No injuries kept him out. (as of right now, he's not even registered) and Man City also signed Gaston Ramirez for 18.75 million and played him once before selling him for 5million the following summer.
