  1. I have an issue during matches. I often get this weird sound bug, where it sounds as if the ball is being kicked 6-10 times.
This might sound like a small thing, but it’s really taking my enjoyment out of watching games.
This bug was raised by another user some time back

Here it was suggested to clear cache and preferences folders and try a different game speed. I’ve already tried both fixes but didn’t solve my issue.
Are there any other things I could try to get this fixed? I do play with non-SI skin, but default DB.

  2. Did you ever find a fix for this?

I finally have some spare time to get a good save going but sadly have this issue as well where it sounds like someone is kicking the ball 8-10 times. I watch my games on comprehensive highlights, so I get it a lot more than 3 times a game.
I’ve already tried the standard clearing cache & preferences. Also tried to change game speed, but nothing works.
Anything else I could try to get this fixed somI can concentrate on enjoying the experience instead of this bug?

    i like this one more..:applause:

I can't wait to develop my own catenaccio. Guess I'll start of with the default preset and work my way from there. I will look to get me some 1-0 wins :)

I'm very curious to see how the libero works with a flat back 5. I hope they took a look at how the remaining CBs behave when the libero and FBs push higher up in attack. I don't want them to spread too wide like they've done in previous years. Way to easy for the opposition to play a ball to a central unmarked striker.

  4. I am an American guy who has been playing FM for 4 years now, each year getting the new game. However, these previous years I have just shopped around here and other forums for tactics to use. I just don't understand formations, roles, instructions enough to create my own tactic. But I have hoping to change that this year.

I have also had the wrong mentality this whole time. With american football, typically, if you want to score a lot and pass a lot, you put your QB in shotgun and give him 4 or so wide receivers every play. So, I used that mentality with soccer. If I want to score I a lot, then that means I must deploy a formation that has multiple strikers and attacking mids, right? But that is wrong, isn't it? Having 3 guys up front doesn't necessarily mean I am setting myself up to score a lot, does it? You can have one guy up front and play pretty conservatively and still dominate the scoreboard, right?

Anyways, here is a question I have. I am doing some research on formations and found an article about the 4-4-2 and how it died out because the "lack of traditional targetmen and a severe lack of classic No. 7s and No. 11s."

What do they mean by that? What do they mean by the classic No. 7 and No. 11?

    Thanks!

Number 7 & 11 are generally referred to as traditional wingers.

If you want to learn football (or soccer) I would read this: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/423054-Lines-and-Diamonds-The-Tactician-s-Handbook-for-Football-Manager-2015

It's written for FM15 but it explain a lot of general concepts also!

  5. Drop Deeper will drop you down to approximately the settings of the standard mentality, so with "Close Down More," you're basically just setting your defensive settings to Standard + "Close Down More." And I would use "Close Down More" to get the benefits you would expect from a pressing style (i.e., denying space near your block, winning the ball back before the opposition tries to beat your midfield).

Okay, I will try and see how it works out! I was just scared it would pull my team apart.

How much do you trust your defenders? An offside trap gets much riskier the closer you get to your own goal, so it depends on your DC's ability to pull it off (decisions, concentration, anticipation) as well as their ability to recover if they make a mistake (acceleration, pace, tackling).

    I don't trust them :)

Thanks for the quick answers! I have my overload tactic working very well with a full pitch press. But it's so demanding for the players to play it for 90 minutes, so I only want to use it for short spurts if I'm struggling to create chances. So thanks for all the guidance in your PDF!!

  6. I'm currently planning my basic tactic and need a bit of help.

In chapter 7 you talk about different pressing styles. I want to try and install a half pitch press, win the ball back before attacking with pace! I have chosen control as the starting mentality for this. In chapter 4 you have the table with Mentality and Defensive Style. I want to use a medium defensive block, so I've chosen the Drop Deeper TI. Drop Deeper TI also drops closing down by one setting from Opposing Half to Balanced.

I guess what I'm asking is, which Pressure Intensity equals the half pitch press? Opposing Half or Balanced? And would you still play the offside trap with a half pitch press?

  7. Are there plans to release this in PDF or as a part of CCC? I'd be glad to have it on my tablet to read on my way from work

    Quote from OP:

The handbook is divided into ten chapters. The first three introduce and discuss a manager's tactical responsibilities and the basic concepts behind tactical theory. The next four chapters will explore the tactics creator in detail and explain how to put your tactical ideas into practice. The final three chapters discuss how to work outside your basic set-up in order to control matches, create tactical advantages and deal with difficult situations. Given the length, I've decided to post one chapter every few days, though when the final chapter is up, I'll also provide a link to a complete pdf for anyone interested in having an offline version.
