  1. @PequenoGenio Last year my health wasn't great (still isn't) so I couldn't deal with the brainwork required to fully build a tactic so I googled "fm21 effective 433 tactics" to give me a head start, watch a few minutes of a few videos and ended up with a great tactic, it was, with the right players probably overpowered, but the way it played out in matches was nice to watch and basically what I have been trying to build myself for years, it has translated in FM22 ok, though when full release am going to tweak it. I know a lot of the videos are annoying but if you are struggling it may be worth watching to see if something is close to what you are looking for, if it's close you can then tweak it or build a team on it.

The tactic that suited me "rdf magical front three" had 2 versions one with 2 playmakers one with AP+B2B, the one with the B2B suits my preference, it works well as favourite and underdog, it's not a perfect tactic if the opposition play high up the pitch, and same as most formations with mid range teams maybe 1 or 2 big defeats in a season, but if gave me different ideas/ways to implement tactics.

Whats missing is the PIs that make the formation click, basically lots of tighter marking and few tackle harders, but if you have FM21 you can still d/l it and get those. It sort of fits your 2-3-2-3 above.

that is how they unsettle your players. Does he want to move?

He didn't but has already refused new contract because of interest  so with 18months left in my mind if I don't qualify for CL can sort it in the summer and if I do qualify for CL I may be able to persuade him to stay.

The AI will, after a while, move on to their next target. Now, if you're close to deadline day and the AI hasn't found a "better" target yet, they will spam you with offers, as they still consider your player their best bet.

Yes, this gets horribly awkward when they already offered what they considered their max offer for said player and just come back with the same offer (auto reject offers below asking price is your friend there!) and I'm not sure why SI haven't looked into this properly. Considering that they will increase their offers (if they can afford to), they AI clearly has some sort of memory off what they offered previously, so why that is not used to prevent the AI from spamming you with the same offer over and over I have no idea.

Thank you @Freakiie, you have put it far better than I have, it's the logic behind the bidding process, which when the roles are reversed I find the AI more logical and willing to negotiate.

Will try using auto reject even though I don't like any of the "auto" buttons.

I'm not complaining about the bids and the unsettling element, but, the follow up bids are where the issue lies and my brain can't stop trying to understand the (il)logic.

Am going to load up before Jan window and catalogue all bids that happen, will return later.

AI doesn't think he's worth what you're asking. They aren't going to offer you more money  because you don't have the depth. its up to you to not accept the offer. Same as you cancel the offer you DOF presented for McNeil.

That's all fair enough but "how many times" realistically should the AI have to be told this is the price like it or lump it, and that is what I am trying to understand, the AI logic, to me the logic is:

    a) he wants that much, b) we don't think he's worth that, c) will try lowball feeler offer, see that rejected, go back with same/worse offer in less than 24 hours"

It makes absolutely no sense and that is why I'm trying to understand the AI logic. Steps a,b,c make perfect sense but the bit in bold defies all logic and common sense

You're free to ask for whatever price you want, the other club is free to bid however low or high they want. You asked for 60, they clearly have no intention and just want to lowball and maybe unsettle the player. It's hard to see what the issue is.

Again you've either misread or misunderstood my original post, it must be how I've worded it (sorry), the money side is totally irrelevant I can ask what I like just as the AI can ask what it likes, it's the fact that that the AI won't move on to it's next target, after rejection, that it returns the next day with the same or worse offer and again and again, it's the AI logic I'm trying to have a better understanding of, to me it makes no sense at all, is it designed this way or have I stumbled upon an issue?

I apologise if I've not been clear, but tomorrow I'll reload the save before the transfer window and run it through again making notes of offers all through the window including deadline day and try to explain better about the illogical approach from the AI.

Your fault was to put "asking price". That means/translate to AI = Ok, he/she place it (asking for) for 60m - we will find the solution to bring him to our club, because he made a fault to put an asking price a lot higher that transfer value which gonna soon or later player will be pissed of and want a move to our higher rep club. We don't care if it's only your LB.

I hope that makes more sense what I have wrote above. :-)

I think it does make sense (if its your second language:brock:). I think I understand that me putting asking price was an issue, but that only happened after I had rejected several offers and had player chat he wasn't happy with my asking price but as he said he's a professional and accepted it though wasn't entirely happy, so putting an asking price was forced on me and I wanted to go higher but wanted to be within the realms possibility and have player accept my value, and it not just Man City it's other clubs too.

But you've still missed the point I'm struggling to understand why the AI won't get that there is only an asking price reluctunctly, just as when I bid for a "star player" from smaller team and the AI says this is the price, I either accept it and pay up or reject and move on to the next target, the AI doesn't accept no and doesn't move on, before deadline day I had already rejected 11 bids for this player 7 from City 3 from Newcastle and 1 from Dortmund none of the offers over £30m and both City and Newcatle repeated identical offers and then lower offers, it is an illogical way to try to do business and the opposite of how the AI behaves when I am buying, I don't have an issue with the AI when I'm buying if I don't like the deal I walk away, I may return in the next transfer window but not the next day with the same or worse offer.

  6. This is related to my last post in Beta feedback thread.

I will start with an example from previous FM and realife.

Wilf Zaha is more real life than FM, but few years ago there were "rumours" regarding £80m+ transfer, and is a great example of what I'm trying to understand better, I get that to Palace he was worth that as he was the clubs "star player" but in the actual market at the time would have been around £40m, I know his value to Palace is a lot more than his actual value.

Now from FM21 Dwight McNeill, I was interested scouted him watched him myself few times Burnley knew I was interested. Now my guess was it would be expensive but was hoping for £40m-50m thinking good money for Burnley that, but they wanted £91m, my DoF made the offer so obviously he didin't have an issue with the price, but I did so I cancelled it. Don't have a problem with Burnleys stance or valuation as I understand that to Burnley F.C he is worth that to them, I got JWP for £36m instead.

I understand both of the above examples.

Now for my problem, I have 1 LB (Lucas Digne, good solid player) no backup LB (am retraining JJK to cover). So from mine and the clubs point of view he is actually priceless until I get some cover in which I'm struggling to do as have basically no transfer budget. I can just about understand Man City offering £30m total, just about his value though little lowball, rejected that so I put a £60m asking price  especially as not listed and I don't want to sell (but mid table Newcastle making lower offers and totalling 4 different players with lowball offers), I even tried a cheeky negotiation by lowering their offer to £20m+Zinchenko, which I don't think is unreasonable, they want my only LB so why not try to get one included in the deal, I know it was unlikely but it was the only way I could even entertain the offer.

In this situation his value to the club is a lot more than £60m as we have no real alternatives and even if we can get someone else in we have to bed them in,

So why can't the AI understand that at this moment in time this player is worth more in value to my club (just as it knows that Dwight McNeill is worth more to Burnley) and at least be reasonable to deal with or accept my demands or accept that NO means NO.

  7. Well I've just had the most brutal 2 weeks in game I can remember, and it has deflated all my previous enjoyment, and its nothing to do with tactics, but I think its down to the fact I'm overachieving, 8 out of my first 11 are wanted by clubs my form was good coming into Jan and ok until last 2 weeks of transfer window, I wasn't prepared for the amount of stupid low ball approaches, the relentless approaches after I've named my price of even lower offers than first made, naturally if I'm not getting anything approaching reasonable offers I reject, then if they come back again I negotiate by naming my price what I see a value (my asset my price) to my squad, no sooner do I bat away stupid offers then more stupid offers from different clubs, if the clubs come back with improved offers we could negotiate but repeatedly making the same offer or lower offers isn't negotiating, I'm not demanding ludricous amounts, and none of these players are listed either, I really wanted to enjoy Deadline day but even with the build up to it I was dreading it, as you can imagine I'm lucky I've still got 4 players who are happy, so how do my squad responding after completing the double over Man City before all the stupid bids well we lose 5-1 at home to Wolves and I've lost the dressing room and it has drained me.

Rant over the big point I'm making here it is impossible for me to get out of this situation in any acceptable way, if I accept a (never mind 5/6) low ball bid the board and fans lose faith in me and my team are upset that I sold a valued teammate(s) for next to nothing or as has happenend I lose the dressing room for refusing unreasonable offers. I've played the game long enough and generally enjoy the transfer side of things I play hardball as the AI does but before at least the AI would more often than not find some middle ground, but I've never known anything like this before, it's beyond manageable.

I've decided to restart and basically try to be more prepared for Jan. It means so much more brain work as even though I have no money, I'm going to need a 33 player shortlist from the off and have to do some serious scouting in the first few months to even have a fighting chance, and normally I like my transfers to find me, either through my scouts or me clicking an ingame news item/match report.

Hope this is acceptable as feedback as this is how it's intended only the first paragraph is a rant:D

  8. Now I'm mid Dec 21, had most new interactions except Deadline Day.

Firstly am running all leagues+divisions on full detail, normally I have it all view only apart from UK, but wanted to see if my rig would handle it ok, and have to say it out performs my expections with the full load, though some matchdays are little longer than I would like, I know that if I go to view-only again that will speed it up, am sure it's running more efficiently than previous FMs:thup:.

I'm loving the menus and general UI it seems to have satisfied my data cravings as the monthly meeting reports are all layed out, I can't emphasise how much I'm enjoying digesting the data, because for me the presentation makes it easy to assess, in matches too it has all I need, half time reports/data are delicious I could have them all day, because they are so useful, also I really like the scouting system and reports. Summary no need for a new skin for me:applause:.

I'm not enjoying the contract issue at all, really hoping this is sorted before full release, it is taking so much enjoyment away:seagull:.

ME have not had any extreme issues apart long throws (still when I know ones coming have to watch as waiting for one to go straight out on opposite side of pitch:lol:), have seen nice variety of goals, though probably few too many screamers, and it seems I've had more than my fair share of goals from through balls like @XaW shows on previous page, seen a good few goalmouth scrambles too, resulting in goals and clearences, and my tactics play out as they did in 21. Summary though it definitely needs tweaking, I think I'm ok with it:confused:.

I've definitely noticed players being sold for what seems too cheap. I picked up Dani Ceballos off the transfer list for £1.2m in the first window, he had two years left on his contract.

Have just got him on loan to sign Jan 22 80% wages and optional fee £425k, they wanted mandatory fee of £300k, but I don't do mandatory on incoming loans, either way an absolute steal

  10. I'm still not far enough in for ME appraisal yet apart from to say that long throws are hilarious.

Also considering I've only got to Oct 1st in game 4 players upset as I want them to earn contracts instead of me just saying yes, have seen this mentioned here already, but it is very unrealistic and annoying.

Have a question regarding the opposition scouting reports in the bottom right it has a box saying "Use suggested training", I don't see any training suggested so I'm reluctant to hit the box/button. Has anyone used this box/button if so what does it do? I can see sort of a suggestion i.e Keane's positioning may help to combat this, but if it wants to change my training surely it has to show me what training will change.

    • I really like the match engine and I'm seeing goal scored in ways I haven't in a while. Lots of headed goals, wingers actually cutting the ball back etc. Only criticisms/bugs I have (and I reported it) was that i've had my highlights setting default to "Full Match" on a couple of games...
    • I really like the skin
    • Data center looks like a really useful addition, especially once I get into customising it. Will definitely help with my end of year squad assessment.
    • Finally, I'm not sure if this is subjective but 22 seems to generate a lot less heat on my ancient laptop whilst running than 21. Although that might be because i'm not 16 years into a save.

This is basically what I logged in to say, though have only watched 6 preseason matches so far. Think this will be first year I won't bother with any skins, I like the look. The reason I bolded the last part is I'm on a 2yr PC but the efficiency seems so much better than 21 overall which was a whole lot quicker than anything before.

Still early days but so far I'm a very happy bunny.
