  1. It was maybe always just a matter of time, but still very dissapointed to lose our star player Drazen Surbek. 101 caps and 61 goals he managed to get for us, before leaving for what seems like our affiliate club, Liverpool. We have had three big sales on this save, and all of them to Liverpool. They met Drazen Surbek's buy-out clause of £10,750,00 and it was nothing I could do. He has been the heart of the team, leading the line in our 4-2-3-1 and he always managed to score the important goals! I will bring back Roko Jaksic from loan and he will be our starting striker this year. The difference between the two, is as you can see, staggering! Goodbye league title!
  2. Thanks! But I'm not fighting for promotion, I'm fighting for the title
  3. NK Zadar Season Summary 2029-2030 Season Summary After finishing 2nd last season I had high hopes that one more year of experience for our young team could give us a title push. And boy did we come close! The league went down to the final day and it was HNK Rijeka that grabbed the title. Dinamo Zagreb had won it the last six seasons so this was a huge blow for them. We beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 in the second last round of the season, substitute Vedran Kulusic grabbing a 2-1 winner in stoppage time! This gave us a great chance, but even though we won our last game we lost out in the title by the smallest margin possible: Results between teams.. Gutted, but we have to be happy with the way we performed. We won our Europa League group which automatically put us in the 2nd Knockout Leg. We drew TSG Hoffenheim and managed to win on away goals, beating them 2-1 in Germany and losing 0-1 at home. Next up was Tottenham and that meant a brutal exit for us! We lost 5-0 in England, in fairness it could easily have been by a bigger margin. A respectable 0-2 loss at home meant the Europa League adventure was over with a bang. But we really can't complain, Spurs is just miles ahead of us! Going forward We have a very exciting team at the moment and even though I could have highlighted some of our other top performers (Gribic, Perisic etc.) or posted U-19 players I will post screenshots of the six players in the starting eleven who are 20 or younger. These are players that I hope will be the foundation of this team in years to come, but I also fear that it can all come crashing down this summer. Drazen Surbek, our best player by far, have on a number of occasions turned down top clubs, but will he stay another year? Without him we will go all in on a U-19 striker named Roko Jaksic, but that will mean no title challenge. The gap in quality between the players are just too big. Surbek has scored 28 goals in 53 games (all competitions) this year, as well as providing 9 assists. I'd be lucky to get 10 out of Jaksic, or any other striker in the team. Our other young key players (screenshots below) are all wanted by top clubs (Arsenal, Juventus, PSG etc.), and if we can't hold onto them there are no real alternatives in the academy. We also have terrible right full back, but a pretty decent prospect in our U19. I am considering to think long-term and just have him as the regular starter for next year, as our right side is like a interstate highway at times.. 4. I just finished our 2029/2030 season. But the players didn't go on holiday, as they normally do. Anyone else experienced the same? It was like nothing happened.
  5. What a great season @Sheyra! Really impressive! And Steve Hunter looks like a player that can follow you far up the league system!
  6. NK Zadar Youth Intake 2030 With our top notch youth recruitment and junior coaches, as well as a good HOYD we should have expected more overall quality, but the two only stand outs might prove very useful. Our left and right full back is where we are the weakest at the moment, both in quality as well as in quality. It will be interesting to follow the progression of these two, and Goran Bulat might be my first choice right full back next season, as our first choice isnt much better!
  7. After our lucky draw in the Europa League we certainly made the most of it! We won our group, two points ahead of Spartak Moscow. We started of with a win away to KAA Gent, and never really looked back. Hopefully we can get a good draw for the first knock out stage!
  8. A miracle! We managed to keep hold of Drazen Surbek throughout the summer transfer window. With a £10,25 million transfer clause I was sure we lost him. Juventus made two bids, but he refused them twice, I have no idea why!
  9. A pretty good Europa League draw. We have twice competed in Euro Cup II, but this year we got Champions League qualification. After beating Young Boys and Dyamo Kyiv we faced Benfica. That was always going to be tough, and a 0-4 loss in Portugal proved that. We lost 6-1 overall, but getting Europa League is fantastic. We avoided top teams like Man Utd and Spurs, and even some of the second seeded teams were great to avoid (Roma, RB Leipzig). Hopefully we can get some good results, and if we can play well at home I think we have a chance to reach the knock out stage.
  10. @XaW, very important contract, Lieberg looks fantastic, and only 19! Your youth intake also looked really good!
  11. NK Zadar Season Summary 2028-2029 Our second season competing in Europe, and what a great season it was. We nearly pulled of a Christmas miracle, finishing just behind Dinamo Zagreb in the title race. This was greatly down to our star player Drazen Surbek, who scored 35 goals in the league/Euro Cup II. What a player he is, and what a shame it is that we will for sure lose him in the summer when a big club triggers his £10,750,000 buy-out clause. He has played on the right wing as well as a striker on our 4-2-3-1 formation, and been great in both positions. He scores a lot of goals, but he also scores the important ones! Almost every narrow win has come from a Drazen Surbek goal. Finishing 2nd in the league is fantastic, and it gives us CL qualification. But we are still tipped bottom of the league next year and if/when we lose Surbek its back to the drawing board. I might promote Roko Jaksic from our U19 squad, as well with another young CB, and this will make us a weaker team in the short run. A great year, but the fact that we finished 2nd was also based a lot on luck to be honest. In the EURO Cup II we won our group and got knocked out by Borussia Monchengladbach in the first knock out stage, 4-4, losing on away goals. The board has decided to build a new stadium, and we are getting another upgrade of our training/youth facilities. 12. NK Zadar Youth Intake 2029 With a good HOYD and exceptional youth recruitment this was a poor intake. We have many players that can become fringe players, but probably only one that has a future in the team. Dalibor Ibriks has great determination (18) and "determined" personality.
  13. A devastating loss in the first knock-out phase of Euro Cup II. We won our group this year, but still got a tough draw. After beating Borussia Monchengladback 3-2 at home we went to Germany to protect a lead. That lasted 24 minutes and suddenly they were through on away goals. A great performance from us made it 1-1 and we held on until the last minute of the game. They scored a lucky goal after some crazy bad defending on our end. And our striker misses an empty net in stoppage time!! Gutted!!
  14. One issue I would like to raise. Not a bug, but its something that occurs year after year and would like to get some feedback on it. Resting of players during a tight schedule: For me personally, if I for example have to play three games in 9 days, and I can't rotate my squad to a big extent (in the current save thats because my number 13-20 in terms of quality are really bad) I like to rest my players for two days between games. I would guess a lot of other players do that as well, and some might view this not to be beneficial as I guess it gives your team less match preperations than optimal. But the oppositon doesn't seem to give their players any rest of all? During a busy match programme I tend to always face opposition teams that start the game with several players on 75-85% in condition, while my players are on 92-94%. It seems like a big advantage over the AI?
  15. I am playing in the Croatian league. In the top division now, but have also played in the 2nd division. Except for a couple of top teams I would say the average team is poor. I am not seeing goalkeepers defying physics. They seem pretty balanced. Penalty conversion seems to be good as well. 1vs1 conversion rate seems to be a bit better than what many other users are describing. But it's still way too many of those chances being created and I am getting quite a few goals from it (and conceding of course). My central defenders have terrible technical stats, but they can still play world class through balls over the top. At the same time I don't see many of them coming from my creative AM. The rest of the ME issues are definitely there, but I do think it's more present in Premier League/La Liga etc. I haven't played in those leagues, but reading other comments it seems to be the case. Some people are saying that they never score 1vs1's, and that might of course be the case for them, but its not as extreme for me. I had my striker score 26 goals one season, quite a few of them were 1vs1's and his stats are terrible! I am also seeing some more variety in goals than many other users are describing, but I would also point out that many of them come from defending being so bad it's another ME issue in itself. Defenders keeping the ball in play and instantly lose it, general defensive positioning being bad etc. But the goals are still pretty varied!
  16. What a player we have in Drazen Surbek. After spending two years developing in the U19's, he went on loan to 2nd division side RNK Split last season. 20 goals in 29 games gave him a spot in the first team and what a player he is. He's a natural striker, but I want to develop a functioning 4-2-3-1 (going away from 4-4-2 the last few years) and we have a couple of other talented young strikers in the academy. Club legend Kristijan Juric is getting old and we needed to replace him on the right wing. No good right wingers made Surbek the obvious choice. A 7 month injury on Juric in august made it even clearer.. What a start to the season he's had! 16 goals in 21 games, and I think 19 of them when playing as a winger on support duty! I would have played him on attacking duty, but I think the ME really favors an ACM/AP on attack duty (i might be wrong) at this point. A game changer for us, even though the start of the season have been a mixed bag. Competing in Europe and domestically is though when your bench is depressing! But I don't think it will last. January is only a couple of months away and Arsenal, Chelsea, FC Porto, Man Utd, AC Milan and Tottenham are all interested. Unfortunately he has a release clause of £10,750,000 and I believe it will be met already this season. This will be our third big sale in a couple of years. The money is good, but I would rather keep him. I'm also posting a picture of Matko Dukadjin, the other youngsters that went straight from loan last season to the first eleven this year. He has been really good at AMC!
  17. Wow, thats brutal @Koetzer! How old was Zakany when he had to retire?
  18. NK Zadar Season Update 20227-2028 An okay season for us, and we qualified for Europe for the second time. A great youth intake, players performing really well out on loan and upgrades to our training facilities tells me we are going in the right direction. The board cancelled the plans to upgrade the stadium (just before it got completed) and we will build a new one. With low capacity and poor corporate facilities the board wants to build a new one, but the date is yet to be confirmed. I completed my Continental A licence and started studying for my Continental Pro Licence straight away. After a loss in the opening game we went on a great run of form, winning 6 of our next 8 games. This gave us a good foundation and we were in a European spot for most of the season. Many injuries at the end of the season was a blow for us and we finished two points from a medal and three points away from a Champions League spot. Gutted! We have played a flat 4-4-2 for the last 3 seasons and its been working really well for us. Unfortunately it makes us a bit predictable in our attacking shape and without any defeders capable at playing from the back we need to make a change. We will be playing a 4-2-3-1 next year and this will give some of our younger players a chance, and some players will have to learn to play in new positions. Hopefully this will be a change that will provide success down the line, even with the match engine being so bad it's laughable. Goals for next season: Adapt a new formation and give our top talents a chance to shine. 19. Our biggest talent, Drazen Surbek, has taken some big steps forward out on loan this season. 17 goals and 7 assists to far in the 2nd division. We will be changing tactics next year, going from a 4-4-2 to a 4-2-3-1, and I think Surbek can do great as a striker or a Ramdeuter on the right wing. He just signed a new contract, but demanded a release clause of £10,75 million. I expect that clause to be met sooner rather than later...
  20. Youth Intake 2027 A very good intake! I wished for another CB, that didn't happen, but we seem to be pretty good at producing strikers. Roko Jaksic and Fran Gabrijelic looks really good, and our "exceptional academy coaching" and "exceptional youth recruitment" is paying off. Just a shame that the board wont give me any farmer clubs that can provide us with players. We completed our upgraded training facilities and youth facilities this year. They are now adequate (training facilities) and average (youth facilities). Luckily the board gave us another upgrade straight away, and the sales last season of £16 million is paying off!
  21. Absolutely laughable! The board is very dissapointed that we haven't built the best youth academy in the country. We have gone from a failed lower league club to selling players to Liverpool for £16 million in a year and qualifying from a European group with home grown players.... They have spent two years to upgrade youth facilities...
  22. NK Zadar Season Update 2026-2027 Our first season in Europe and our first season making a profit. The sales of Ajdukovic and Tomaskovic gave us a total of £16 million in income. We also did way better than expected in Euro Cup II which gave us great income. The final of Euro Cup II (which im obviously not participating in) is yet to be played, so I think there will be some more money coming in, but right now we have £14,6 million in bank balance, compared to minus £4 million 12 months ago! We had a pretty decent season considering we had to combine playing in Europe as well as domestic league, and losing two of our best players! We finished 6th place in the league, dissapointing compared with our bronze medal last season, but still good for a team tipped for relegation. We managed, by some miracle, to knock out Maccabi Haifa, AC Omonia and Legia Warszawa on our way to the group stage in Euro Cup II. We then drew Red Bull Salzburg, Videoton FC and Besiktas in the group stage. We somehow managed to get through the group stage, beating Besiktas away in the first group game! We also beat Videoton at home and got draws against Salzburg at home and Besiktas away, giving us 8 points, just enough! We were up against FC Nordsjælland in the first knock out phase and were deservedly knocked out 2-1. We should have done better against them, but progressing from the group stage, even getting to the group stage, was beyond expectation! In the league we performed okay, but never really got going with a solid winning streak. We win some games by luck and we tend to beat the bottom two-three teams comfortably, but we are far from a top team. We are struggling to dominate posession and we are terrible if we go behind early. We will just have to keep working and hope that we get some talented defenders the next few years... Season Summary Best Performers Top talents Season | League | Position | League Cup | Europe | Notes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2020/21 | Druga Hrvatska Nogotemna Liga | 1st | Semi-final | N/A | Promotion to top division first year 2021/22 | MaxTV Hrvatska Nogotemna Liga | 7th | 2nd round | N/A | Stayed in the league. 23. Yes, isolated they are good sales. But we are also talking about the best talent we have ever produced and I have to improve the team on the pitch as well. But when a release clause is met there is no arguing! We are improving facilities and we already have top junior coaching and recruitment so hopefully we can see some results from that in the next few years.
