  1. Thanks for the advice! Most of my saves over the past few games have been with Arsenal, so top end of the Premiership. Not used to this lower league stuff! There's not a great deal I can say about the SS at the moment. Granted I'm only in pre season, but I haven't really got much out of the role yet. I went for it to try to give my attacking midfield slots a bit of variety, however I've not really had goals or assists from it so far. We'll have to see when we finally get to the start of the season. I've just signed a player that my coaches say is a leading player for most L2 sides. I'm hoping that he can slot in to the SS role however my coaches are suggesting that he's best as an AP so I may have to switch the role in order to get the most out of him.
  2. Looks pretty similar to the majority of last season for me! Pre season has started for me now and I'm not doing too badly, but I'm noticing in my games that I'm still struggling to create chances. I'm not giving many away, and I'm winning the possession battle in most games (as I type I've got 58% possession vs Premiership side Derby in a friendly) but the lack of chances created means I'm unlikely to actually win many games.
  3. I think I may have spoken too soon. In my second game (vs mid-table Mansfield) I've been quite poor in all of the areas that matter. The final score was 2-0. I had more possession than they did (59%) and more passes (472/606 to their 268/374) however that is where my domination ends. They had 23 shots (10 on target) to my 7/1. My wingers again failed to complete a cross (only attempting 3 in total this game). Shots wise, only 2 of mine were inside the area. Only 6 of their 23 shots were outside the box, with 1 of which resulting in a goal. Their other goal came from a cross that was quite deep in my half (pretty much half way between the half way line and my box).
  4. I've been struggling in my first season in League 2 (4th season in-game) as King's Lynn. It's not a massive surprise because I am by far the weakest team in the league but I've managed to just about stay up. Now that the end of the season is approaching, I need to take a long hard look at my team and get something sorted in preparation for next season to ensure that I have a more successful year. This season I've been trying to play an offensive 3-4-3 diamond & a 4-2-3-1. Neither have worked as I just don't have the strength at the back to be able to deal with any kind of attacking threat from the opposition. The amount of times I'm either being done by crosses or over the top balls is astounding. After reading through this thread I think that "defensive" football may be the way forward. As a manager I like to play an expansive, possession based style with intricate passing, but I'm not sure that my players are able to do this. Based on 1 game (so far!) defensive football gets me closer to that, and makes me more sturdy at the back. For my new tactic, I'm lining up as follows: GK(D) CB(X) CB© CB(X) DW(S) CM(D) CM(S) DW(S) AM(S) SS(A) DLF(S) I was worried when I first put the tactic together on the tactics screen that the "front 3" of AM, SS and DLF would all be occupying the same space. That hasn't happened so far, however I have noticed that the 2 AM players and my CM players are turning themselves into a box midfield. I'm not sure whether that is a good thing or not yet, I think only time will tell. I'll also need to take my first few games with a pinch of salt because I don't have players that are particularly well suited to their roles yet (for example relatively poor full backs in an attacking sense in both of my DW slots). From an analysis point of view I'm only really going to analyse the first half of my first game with this tactic (vs Carlisle) as they had a player sent off in the 43rd minute. I went in at half time 1-0 up thanks to a penalty, which was won by my right DW bombing into the box and being taken down. Shots wise, however, I've not done very well. I have only managed 3 shots (1 on target) and have fashioned 1 clear cut chance. From a possession point of view, I've had a whopping 67% possession and have completed 288/332 passes (86%) compared to their 125/176 (71%). I've also won 13/14 tackles and 17/24 headers (their stats are 14/23 and 13/25 respectively) Looking at the stats, my DWs have not completed a single cross (10 attempted) however have 2 key passes (both from my right hand side). My DLF has only had 2 shots, one of those being the penalty, so I need to find out why he isn't getting chances. Judging by his heat map & average position, he's dropping deep and getting involved in play in the middle of the park (as you'd expect from a DLF(S)) and not really getting into the box at all. He is doing a very good job of holding the ball up though and I think that if he had better support (a more threatening SS for example) his lack of chances wouldn't be much of an issue.
  5. The issue I'm having with my 3-4-3 diamond is that opposing CMs are being given an awful lot of space. As my CMs are tracking the wingers, any kind of cleared ball is going straight into central midfield. I'm going to try "clear ball to flanks" to see if this will give my players a bit more time to regroup.
  6. Has the "Free Kick Taking" attribute been removed from Goalkeepers in FM16? I can't seem to see it on any attribute pages for GKs. Is it now taken into account as part of "Kicking"?
  7. I'll post a full update when I've finished my first season, but I'm now half way through the season and I've just competed in the 3rd round of the FA cup! I managed to dispatch of Scunthorpe and Rochdale before I got a dream tie (both for the team and myself, being a fan of this team): Arsenal at the Emirates. Obviously I got absolutely destroyed (9-0) by a completely full strength Arsenal side, but I can take one positive from the performance at least - I had more possession! 58,267 fans attended the match which has meant that my bank balance has sky rocketed. I'm now sat with an overall balance of £531,064 and I've already convinced the board to upgrade my youth facilities. So far, so good for me!
  8. After struggling with motivation in my normal saves, I've started the challenge as King's Lynn. Pic (with scary face) below. For some reason LvG doesn't like me
  9. I ended up starting again, and have just finished my first season. I've received an offer for the Ox that I'm not sure about. Man City are offering £40m up front, £11.5m over 12 months and £8m after 10 international games, which will obviously happen with Alex. Do I take it? £60m is a lot of money for someone that only played 19(6) games for me in all competitions. He did, however, score 11 goals and get 6 assists in those 25 games, with an average rating of 7.52. The other AMRs that I've got in my squad are Theo (27(6) games, 14 goals, 11 assists, 7.35 rating) and James Ward-Prowse (24(10) games, 6 goals, 12 assists, 7.37 average rating but not all of these from the right wing). I could also put Alexis there and bring in someone like Reus. Thoughts?
  10. The only problem I have with our youth is that while they're alright, they haven't really got the potential to be challenging for first team places in a team like Arsenal. I don't think they should be rated any higher, but it would be nice to be able to develop a team of youth (I guess "class of 92" style) and have them all as first team regulars.
  11. I've now got quite a good problem to have, as my squad now boasts 4 amazing attacking players in Ozil, Sanchez, Mata and Gotze. I'm trying to decide how to line up to include all of them. I'm thinking of sticking with my 4-2-3-1, and having the trio of Gotze, Ozil and Mata sat behind Sanchez.
  12. After having my budget massively increased, I've agreed to sign Juan Mata for £36m from Man Utd. It's not a necessary signing, but the thought of Alexis-Ozil-Mata was too good to turn down given his stats. I now need to find myself a striker - my strikers stats are currently: Giroud: 11(1) games - 6 goals (most of the goals were in the first few games of the season, hasn't scored for quite some time) Vietto: 3(5) games - 2 goals Gabriel Barbosa: 10(3) games - 3 goals Welbeck: 3(1) games - 0 goals Embolo - 0(7) games - 2 goals I'm rotating them quite a lot in the hope that one of them will start scoring, which is probably the opposite of what I should be doing. Either way - Vietto certainly hasn't started how I'd hoped he would have done judging by previous games as him. Any thoughts on who I should bring in? Dybala, Berardi, Tevez are all unavailable as they've recently had big moves.
  13. I'd just come on to post something like this! I'm in the 2nd season and my board set up a meeting with me to ask whether increasing the transfer budget would be beneficial. I of course said yes, and I've now got a budget of £124m. I've already spent £60m this season!
  14. Thanks! It would have been so much easier if Sanchez was fit for the 2nd half of the season. For me, he did exactly the opposite of what he seems to be doing in your save. He is (or was) consistently taking it around 2 or 3 players, cutting in from the left and smashing it into the top corner.
  15. First season over - I won the league, community shield and league cup. The league was won on the last day of the season, away to 2nd placed Chelsea! The board have given me just under £90m to strengthen my team for next year. I think I'll keep the squad largely the same, as long as there aren't any huge bids for any of my players. One addition that I'm thinking of making is Saido Berahino from relegated West Brom. I can pick him up for £9.5m - I doubt he'll play a major role for me but he'll be a good backup. EDIT: Scratch that. Berahino wants £145k per week as a rotation player and his agent won't back down. No chance!
  16. I'm starting to struggle a bit now. Sanchez is out for 8 to 9 months with damaged cruciate ligaments. He was (and still is) my top scorer, top assister, and the player with the highest average rating. So much of my game was built around him picking the ball up on the left and driving at people, but I've not got that option now. As I'm now out of the transfer window, the AML IF(A) spot is going to have to go to one of Ox/Santi/Welbeck/Meyer but none of them can do what Alexis does. May need to change my tactics to make up for him not being there.
  17. It happened in Jan of the 1st season. They weren't doing badly for me, but weren't doing brilliantly either so I had no problems with letting them go!
  18. Been offered £33m by Chelsea for Coquelin - I'm pretty happy with that considering his in-game value is £15m. Just need to find myself a replacement before he heads off. Just been offered £38.5m by Barcelona for Gabriel. Looks like I'm going to have a lot of cash!
  19. Jorge from Flamengo is another left back that looks like he could turn out brilliant. Fairly typical Brazilian wing back with some pretty good offensive stats considering his age.
  20. I'll make a proper roundup post when I've finished my first season, but I've made a couple of signings that have worked out pretty well for me. Gabriel Barbosa is banging the goals in up top (keeping Giroud out of the side) and Lucas Lima from Santos (I think) has slotted in very nicely in central midfield and has been rotating with Ramsey for my CM AP(s) slot.
  21. Sanchez just broke his leg while away with Chile... Not at all happy!
  22. Second season roundup: Pretty happy this season as I won the quadruple. Next season I really need to aim at getting further than the QF of the CL. Transfers: Not a massive amount of transfer activity for the first team. Malcom came in to replace Giroud as back up striker, and Eder Alvarez Balanta and Shkodran Mustafi both came in to replace the outgoing Nicolas Nkoulou. Oliver was very much a luxury signing as I did not really need him. In hindsight, I probably should have loaned him out as he didn't play much for me. Apart from that, all of the other players that I brought in were youngsters. League: Table: 3 more losses this season than last season. All bar one were away from home. I am a little concerned about my team not performing away from home, so I may need to create a slightly more conservative tactic to make us more solid. Awards: Footballer of the year: Alexis Sanchez (again!) Golden boot - Danny Welbeck (again!) (29) - Sanchez came third with 23 Player of the year - Danny Welbeck Manager of the year - Me Team of the year - Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck - Wojciech Szczesny and Kieran Gibbs as substitutes Other competitions: CL: Lost in the QF again - this time vs Man Utd. 3-5 on aggregate. FA Cup: Won! 2-1 in the final vs West Ham. Capital One Cup: Won! 2-1 in the final vs Tottenham. Community shield: Won! 2-2 vs Man Utd, won on penalties. Player stats in all competitions: Youngsters: I've got the following youngsters that I feel are pretty exciting: Produced by the club: Tony Walker Reece Jude Eddie Axten Brought in from elsewhere: Kristian Andersen Joao Pinho Colin Masson Paulo Barroso Ugo Van Den Broeck
  23. Crowley has developed REALLY well for you - what training did you have him on?
  24. As an alternative to Reus, Griezmann is available for 25.5m. I haven't signed him yet but I am seriously considering it. Looks to be very good.
