  1. Just curious if anyone’s managed to sign Messi for a less obvious club given the fact he’s a free agent in Your World?

I offered him the maximum I could to try sign him for Newcastle and he considered our offer but ultimately signed for a club in Saudi on £1.9m per week!

  2. Now at the start of the 4th season.

    Season 1 - finished 3rd

    Season 2 - finished 1st

Season 3 - finished 2nd, 1 point behind Liverpool. Won the FA Cup but lost in the Carabao Cup & Champions League finals.

    My team is currently:

Diogo Costa, Justin Bijlow, Freddie Woodman

Pedro Porro, Max Aarons, Jean-Clair Todibo, Antonio Silva, Joško Gvardiol, Eric Garcia, Nuno Mendes, Theo Hernandez

Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouameni, Dominik Szoboslai, Jamal Musiala, Nicolas Gonzalez, Kvicha Kvaratshkelia, Allan Saint-Maximin

    Alexander Isak, Endrick, Victor Osihmen

Some of the players I had previously were Theatre, Merino, Marcus Edwards, Ivan Toney & Manu Kone.

Theo Hernandez, Musiala & Garcia are recent signings and I can fit one more CM/ST into the squad taking into account CL registration.

  3. As a purchaser of the game for many years, I am very underwhelmed and disappointed with FM23:

    - The feature updates are insignificant. The scouting update is clunky, the supporter page is okay but nothing extravagant, the licensing for the Champions League and Europa League are nice touches (but not really features) and a timeline at the end of the season is insignificant.

    - The transfer list & player ratings must barely have been updated, because other than real life transfers being added, the transfer list is largely the same and a year later in game the potential signings are the same as FM22 - I’ve never found this to be the situation from two different FMs.

This game isn’t what I hoped for in a new FM, I feel apathetic towards the series. At a push, it is FM 22.3, not FM 23 or FM 22.5!

  4. Started a Barca save to try overcome the financial difficulties. Despite the fact its February and we are top of the league and in the Champions League knockouts, there are so many issues:

    - Busquets wants to join PSG

    - de Jong wants to join Man City

    - Lenglet wants to join Inter

    - Dest wants to join Bayern

All 4 players are starting most games and its unrealistic midway through the season. If we were mid-table, out of the CL and a club with little reputation I’d understand it, but these seem to be ignored.

Have a look at Mateo Kovacic - he's hardly playing for Chelsea on my save and he has been transfer listed on request around February he seems really good, and with Inter history ;) Other cheap option is Van de Beek, and you might want to have a look at Veretout from Roma, I would also look at Mikel Merino, and Fabian from Napoli. I'm guessing its all about how much you would want to spend, if you want a younger more expensive options players like Gravenberch, Bellingham (super expensive) might be on your radar.

Cheers for the suggestions, I’ll check out Brozovic’s compatriot.

I’ve purposely shied away from Merino and Gravenberch because they’re on my Newcastle team. Bellingham would be great but out of my price range.

I do have Paredes in on loan but he’s out for a few months. Vidal and Vecino are also leaving in Jan but I play with 3 x CMs so a new one is a must.

  6. Me and a mate are doing a network game, he’s Milan and I’m Inter.

I’m pretty much resigned to the fact Brozovic will leave and Martinez has his release clause - if anyone pays £95m I’ll take it and reinvest I think.

Any recommendations on players to replace Brozovic? I rejected £40m at the start of the season but he’ll be off on a free at the end of the season unless he miraculously changes his mind.

    Thanks

  7. First season I signed the following:

    Zakaria - £8.5m

    Lacroix - £26m

    Lodi - £26m

    Mbabu - £10m

    Isak - £45m

    Raphinha - £43m

    Fekir - £42m

    Merino - £38.5m

    Sule - £16m

    Almada - £9m

Finished 3rd & got to the semis of the FA Cup before losing to Man United on pens.

Looking at signing Gravenberch, Gvardiol, Reyna, Vlahovic & Damsgaard in the summer.

I’m in desperate need for a new GK, any ideas? I’m not going for the Belgian wonderkid purposely.

  8. I had a good season in Italy with Napoli in the second season. After winning the Championship and EFL Cup (I know!) with Blackburn, I resigned and got the Napoli job...

Allan and already been sold so I signed the players listed above. Tried a wide formation with Insigne, Mertens and Verdi, though 4-4-2 diamond helped me fare much better! Got knocked out of the CL in the group stages sadly, but ended up winning Serie A on the last game of the season after beating Juventus and going top on the head-to-head rule (as we drew away from home with them).

The best performers were Diego Simeone (who I signed), Milik, Mario Rui, Hysaj, Zielinski, though some players massively underperformed such as Hamsik, Callejon and Koulibaly! As much as I wanted to stay on with Napoli, I'm only staying with each club I'm at on this stage for one season - I resigned and got the Bayern job after being turned down by Barca and Real.

Though I did sign Fekir, Lenglet permanently and Cannavo to build on the great season we had before I left.

  9. I'd class it as a 424 as well although that would depend how you'd set up your wide players - I'd imagine they are attacking players as they can't play well in midfield and it doesn't make sense that you'd stick defensive-minded players in the more advanced strata so it IS a 424, but I guess that's a fairly subjective call.

My 41221 (DM,CM,CM,AMR,AML,FC) is classed as either a 433 or a 451 by the game. My wide players are attackers so it's a 433 for me but the game doesn't take into account the playing instructions, only the formation.

I don't think it has any relevance in game.

I see what you mean, but when I move both the wingers into Attacking centre mids, the formation says 4-4-2 :S Surely this should be the same for the wingers, as a 4-2-4 would have 4 strikers. As you can tell this really bugs me

  10. Is the "4-2-4" formation too attacking, leaving too much room in midfield? (2 CM and 2Wingers) It's just I see it as 4-2-2-2 or 4-4-2 attacking, but the game sees it as 4-2-4.

4-2-4 to me sounds too attacking but my wide players aren't great playing RM or LM.

(Why doesn't the game class it as 4-4-2 att or 4-2-2-2 either, there seems to be inconsistency with formation names?)
