I did a few looks at this a few years ago when the feature came out and realised all the players have a range of CA and PA at the time of the preview, the other details like age, nationalitu are locked. How wide the range is and what the letters are based on i could not work out, maybe the value in the mid range for a player corresponds to the letter. As a result of this i pay very little attention to the preview unless it tells me that the star rating is 1 and all the players are d and below, Strangely its always spot on for truly awful intakes.

CM2 was my first as well. I also remember ultimate football manager where you did everything from running the football team to building the stadium, shops, hot dog stands, bribing the opposition teams!

I think it may depend on the nationality of the chairman/owner, wanting players from the same nationality if a foreign owner

I can't remember my previous fm saves although i'm sure it happened. On FM23 i have nearly led a 4th division swedish side to CL glory by 2049. Freiburg have firmly established themselves as the biggest club in germany, finishing no lower than 6th in the previous 22 years. Seemingly without a tycoon takeover as well. Generally all the big clubs have continued to win and do well esp in europe, only 6 teams have won the CL. Conf league had a few swedish clubs win it and Ludogrets from Bulgaria. Even in sweden no club apart from mine has played in the top flight and started below the 2nd flight. I have the big 5 and the scandinavian leagues loaded, Roma and Genoa are the biggest and most successful clubs in Italy currently, Molde in Norway are in the 3rd flight.

@jmarchand think you are right, nothing more can be achieved. Great effort, Hungary is the only country i have ever completed this challenge in. I have stopped my save and am already thinking about where to go for FM24.

2047 Table | Squad | Transfers Started the season well and led from early on, stuttered a bit about halfway through but did enough to win the league again. Went through the rounds of the swedish cup without too many issues even allowing for the fact that my backup players played quite a bit. Edged a tight final 2-1 to win the cup again. In europe the team competed in the CL group phase and after some tough fixtures against PSG, Porto, Liverpool and Benfica, did enough in the other matches to get a KO playoff spot. The team faced PSG again in the KO playoff round with the same 1 sided outcome, losing 1-3 at home and 0-2 away. Finances continued to go up with the board looking at a new stadium. Diomande (80 apps, 1 goal) left as he was determined to go which was a pity as he had just established himself. Ben Bangoura (64 apps, 23 goals) also went without showing the best of himself as he wanted to move to a bigger club and kicked up a fuss. Haiki (329 apps, 182 goals) had been a great servant but i couldn't offer him the game time he wanted for a new contract so i sold him.. Grigorov won the golden boy award. Scully came in and did well allthough without the goals to show for it. Valongo is in decline and not really always 1st choice, Helge also struggled for the 1st season in ages. A late run of wins ensured the title was won for the 3rd straight season. In the swedish cup the team got through the early rounds but only just did enough in the later rounds edging out Goteborg 3-2 at home in the quarter-final and needing ET to beat Kalmer 2-1 away in the semi-final. The final by contrast was a breeze.. In the CL group phase the team gave a better account of themselves beating Milan 3-2 away and drawing 0-0 at home to Arsenal. Still lost to Liverpool again, Villarreal and Betis but made the KO spots more comfortably. In the KO rd the team faced Arsenal and again drew 0-0 at home before being comprensively beaten 0-3 away. Finances grew again thanks to player sales even after the purchase of a new ground. I sold Soles (63 apps, 7 goals) as he was only 5 choice and not HG so was not really in my plans. Williams (52 apps, 2 goals) wanted more games but was only on 3rd or 4th choice so i sold him on as well. I reluctantly sold stapley (66 aps) as he wanted to move to a bigger club, his potential had also significanly dropped. I struggled to buy good players as the wages they wanted were well out of my price range. I was also Gazumped by Goteborg on 3 occasions when i had agreed a contract only for Goteborg to offer 3 times the wages and get the player, A player i did bring in was wonderkid Oura along with 3 japanese players. I only wanted 1 but promised to bring in another for him which i did and then my DOF suggested another really cheap high potential player. Samir was brought in Jan and soon became a wonderkid as well appearing on the 50 next gen list. Kean was another on that list. The goalscoring was led by Helge and youth product Eriksson who is finally making good on his potential. I suppose Sweden is very different although my save is also 10 years on and the attendances have grown a lot from the first season. Sweden has 4 clubs who average 40k+ and another 3 who average over 20k, most clubs also seem to be at 95% capacity in the top division. AIK has the largest stadium at 53K. My new stadium is 15k, only slightly bigger then the original expanded stadium of 9k.

I have played a few seasons without updating and have a new stadium being built. Even though i'm a legend they named it after the other legend . It also cost more for half the capacity and no roof. Thats seems like a huge capacity for Hungary where the attendances are not the biggest.

Great progress winning the league and getting into the CL group. I notice your GK scored no goals, is he that poor at pens.

I hate players like Rexhaj who has no attributes to excel anywhere and is a waste of potential. I think you may be being harsh on Marchhart although i like FB to be quick and have good crossing, trainhis pace and in a few years he would look good. Shehi will look great in a few seasons with improve physicals

Surprised you let Marku go and not strommen. The reason all of the national team play abroad is down to the fact that many are born abroad and nearly all have come through in other countries and have probably never played in the kosovon leagues, perhaps you can change this.

Some great young players there, Simon stands out from this years crop. Also Rial is the same height as Lisandro Martinez thanks to his growth creep! That loss is hard to take in the league

i think the 2 footed may be the reason, form also comes into it. I have noticed players in poor form drop stars in ability. Staff also seem to over estimate the abilty of young players (both CA and PA) and seemingly down play the ability of long serving players.

seems really odd that those 2 GK are rated the same for CA when Paradas's attributes are some way above Pedro's

Really great season there in the league. i'm surprised by how Marcos has kicked on since he left but it looks like it is probably down to a change of role (it could also be game time since i can't tell about starts and sub apps from the images)

i tried to show a personality matrix but it didn't come out well and deleted it. I always play sweeper keepers even if they are no good for it. I noticed that good keepers (ones that perform well as opposed to rated highly) always have high attributes in the attributes i mentioned.

I dont think i ever look at those 3 attributes listed for a GK. I look for reflexes, agility, balance. and then handling and decisions.

It used to be that a player who was 2 footed had lower attributes as the 2 footed used up CA that could be why the attributes look low on the first 2 players from that intake @BML Light-hearted is a variable personality, it can be really poor with some low hidden attributes or be resolute as light-hearted trumps resolute, if the hidden attributes are too poor it would be a different personality as most trump light-hearted. Also players can grow after coming through so the GK may not end up as 5'10"
