I guess, but I think a 4-4-2 diamond (wide or narrow) works better for possession retention as the triangles are present already to help keep possession.

i now cleon just frustrating why cant i do well with southampton im using a standard setup from the roles and combo guide with inside forwards and wing backs.

playing a 4-1-2-2-1 wide with saints cant score cant stop conceeding.. any idea what to do im usinglike 7 intructions, higher tempo, short passing retain possession, work into box, play out of defense, higher line closw down more with fluid and control why wont it work.

Could this outragious 4-4-2 flat work for possession or just to many playmakers/

The point is - how do you know you want to play as Saints and in their style, if you don't even know what it is?! It's like saying you want to be able to play tennis like Nadal, but don't know if he's a serve and volley player or more of a baseline guy.
but i know they play nice passing flowing football just dont know the exact TI to uses etc. dont know why thats so hard tog et lol

what i dont get is the guide at the end of this suggestion of a 4-1-2-2-1 looks so unbalanced i mean two inside forwards on attack and two wings backs on attack? what happened to to contrasting wide men. and another CM on attack as well so five of the 10 players on attack. seems fishy to me?

hey guys will be my last question but do need help on my system
its a defensive 4-1-4-1
So far i have
GK - D
FB - S CD - C CD - D FB - D
HB - D
Winger - A BTB - S AP - A WM - S
DF - S
some quick questions.
should my fb defend be more attacking? hopefully in defense it becomes a back five when the half back drops in
should my WM be maybe a defensive winger? how would this affect things? as i still want to have a bit of go forward but i want that side to protect the AP.
is AP a good chioce or maybe a CM on attack would be better. he needs to be getting forward alot and be main threat.
and lasty the DF should i have him on defend to maybe drop back and pressure midfield instead of CD for the other team? dont want hinm to iosoloated.
