Can't believe I didn't think of this earlier but is it not just the setting for network play/"every game on Saturday or Wednesday" being ticked? Not from the editor, but the actual setting in the game. It's for network games so you all play at the same time instead of staggered kick-offs

I can't believe I was wrecking my brain because of a configuration that I never used before in other FMs and never knew I was using.

That solved the problem, thanks, man.

From a quick look, I would make sure the "flag" under "general" is set for "don't use home match days", and also get rid of "dates" - 25 under "league schedule (all groups)". Having the same instructions in multiple places tends to throw things off, might be generating some weird conflicts. Under "tv dates" are you also accidentally telling it to move every Sunday date to Saturday? Maybe plug a number into "number of dates to move". You can also set every date manually (like you have with the first and last), and/or use "break periods" to block specific periods (like every Monday-Tuesday, or Wednesday-Saturday), but that shouldn't be necessary

Most of those things I added after leaving almost everything blank or equal to the configuration in Brazil Advanced Rules while adding new competitions, not starting a new structure. I'm not against games on Saturday, so, I don't want to use break periods. I did what you suggested, except the "breaks periods" and the result was the same.

I tried using the TV dates to move games from Saturday to Sunday, and it also didn't work. I believe there is something overriding all my instructions. I will test the break periods on a month to confirm it.

EDIT: With the break periods blocking games from Thursday to Saturday in February, the scheduling simply ignored the month of February.

  3. Hi, it's me again.

I'm running in another problem with my custom Brazil pyramid. It's all working now in terms of competition and dynamics, but, all the games from the national divisions are only happening on Saturday, and we have a Wednesday open in the scheduling for cup matches, and even the default time being 16:00 for weekend matches, the games all happen on Saturday at 15:00. I already changed a lot of things in the nation and competition fixture and schedule rules and I'm completely unaware of how to solve it.

Also, the teams from the bottom 3 divisions are having trouble to find teams for friendly (I even simulated a year ahead to see if it wasn't a problem just because of the new setup in the first year). And I don't know if this is something regarding the reputation because a lot of the teams that are in this pyramid (more than 500) doesn't have a regular competition to play in FM or something that I have to do in the advanced rules.

Excellent!! I haven't downloaded it yet but if you still need anything looked at then I can do so. Ranking levels are a pain but once you get the hang of it, they're very helpful in making competitions act the way you want.

You might be able to get away without using that "continental cup rules" section at all in that case. But if you do keep it, I know rusty is more of an expert on that

I got rid of that when I scrapped the ranking levels info, because I noticed they weren't working properly. I'm only using the ranking levels.

  5. 1 hour ago, themodelcitizen said:

I wouldn't use "ranking level info" for the cup, just ranking levels for each stage (final has winner = 0, loser = 1 etc). If the top 8 teams in each group advance to the playoffs, they should all have highest = 0, and lowest = the lowest playoff ranking (I guess 4 for round of sixteen losers). Then ninth place would have rank 5 (no need for highest or lowest because their competition is done). Make sense? Those stage flags will work with the ranking levels set, I have it that way for San Marino but even more complicated. Try that out and if it doesn't work I can clean up the rankings in there

I cleaned up like you suggested, and barring one change where a team supposed to be on the Libertadores was on Sudamericana, and vice-versa (8th and 9th, according to my calculations), the teams where all qualified. As the champion of Libertadores and Brazilian Cup was the same team that had a 4th spot (direct spot on group phase), maybe in the transfer of those two spots, it went for the best non-qualified team on the group stage, as normally, by Brazilian rules, overlapping spots goes to the highest positioned team in table not qualified to the competition. I will run another simulation until I get a non-brazilian team winning Libertadores and a hopefully, a team that isn't qualified for Libertadores also won the Cup. However, this is the time that it got closer to what I want.

Thanks for the help, and if you have any insight on the situation above, it would be appreciated, as this is the last issue I have to solve for it to be ready.

  6. So, I created the ranking levels but also tried adding some continental qualification through this part:

    IMG-20230710-WA0020.thumb.jpg.10cb2b0b19f40de6e7ac1cdd7cbcdc12.jpg

I know that right now, the top 3 are being correctly qualified for the group stage. But the other ones (including the Sudamericana spots) are still being given according the group stage.

I had a 7th place reach semifinal and they should be awarded the spot, but missed continental football altogether by being so low in the table.

  7. 15 hours ago, themodelcitizen said:

There's a stage flag "use playoff rankings" for the league/group stages. Under "league settings" you can also use the "other league stage flag" of "don't set league positions for ranking levels". You can also untick the box for "top team are champions". If it doesn't work from there then you'll need to manually set ranking levels for each stage, which isn't too difficult

None of those worked, I'll try setting ranking levels. The teams are still qualifying from the group stage.

  9. Hi, I'm running into a problem while creating a new pyramid for the Football in my country (Brazil).

As the league is, the 5 best teams goes to Libertadores, 6th and 7th goes to Libertadores preliminary rounds and 8th to 13th goes to Sudamericana.

However, I divided the league in two groups and the champion is decided in a two legged knockout round between the 8 best of each group.

This is creating a situation where the 4 best teams might not be between the best of the group stage and this team would miss a direct spot in Libertadores group phase or not be classified to it.

I created a workaround where I add all the results in a overall table, but I still can have a best 4 outside of the spots in the overall table, and maybe a champion that doesn't go to the Libertadores as well (I intend to brute force this later to see)

So, how can I set the 16 places according to the knockout stage to be the ranking that Libertadores and Sudamericana pulls to set the classified teams to the next season?

If needed, I can add the file later, I'm not at home now.

  10. So, I kept fiddling and by @rusty217 advice on the promotion rules, I was able to find a solution. Thanks, man.

    Semttulo1.thumb.png.306a44006d304dbe5d8a26a1554e00a9.png

EDIT: After continuing adding levels to the pyramid, I discovered that the "Minimum Overall Promotion Places for Parent Comp" doesn't need to be ticked for it to work. Just adding 0 promotion places to the group stage is enough.

  11. 4 hours ago, rusty217 said:

Try filling in the promotion rules section, like this:

    20230620140830_1.thumb.jpg.e887783924ec255ec0ca091e4bdc14f2.jpg

That's saying it has 0 promotion places for this stage, but 8 in total.

If I fill this page, the next stage, where the promotions and championship are decided in a knockout stage, the editor says to me that knockout stage can't gather enough teams to start. My promotions are setup on the fate actions of the stage 1 (cup).

If I left 4 relegated from the championship above it verifies, if I change to 8, it verifies. Only after I changed the promoted teams from quarter finals winners (4 promoted) to eighth final winners (8 promoted), it doesn't work.

  12. Hi,

I'm currently creating an alternative football pyramid for my country, to see if my ideal view of how the football should be on the country working in the game.

However, I'm stuck on a stupid error that doesn't make sense. Initially, I thought that 2 relegations places for the first level was okay and made it work for promotion and relegation between first division and second, however, I decided to change those numbers and now I'm receiving this error.

    Semttulo.png.972489ac7245e38565a8726438a8e8cd.png

I just changed, correctly, the number of teams going up in the fate actions of the round of the division and also updated the number of relegated teams. If I change the relegated teams to 4 instead of 8, the editor verifies my file, but with the right setup it doesn't. How can I surpass this error?

  13. So, in my country, there a people selling FM content like custom database, kits, logos, facepacks and everything they can. It's not a editor asking for donation for their work, they sell like a product.

This is something that FM EULA states as illegal. But the biggest problem is that they seek editors who are doing free content and claim they are copying them and threat to sue for copyright infringiment on their "product". This is making people who want to create something and help the community back up and stop their work and this is becoming a hinder in the community.

Are there something that us, as players and members of the community, can do against this predatory behaviour?

Sorry if isn't the right place.

2042 | The road to promotion

It was very hard to fit the save in my schedule (but I was glad that I was able to), but with the help of holidaying between the matches, it was a possible to bring it to an end. I'll be around and if we don't win the Libertadores until my next turn, maybe I'll go again to seek it.

    Transfers

The market in the middle of the year gave me more room to expand and improve the squad, but with the promotion in my sight, I didn't give long contracts. I brought Andrés Angulo to provide cover at the DM position, and thank God I did, in the week before the start of the Phase Two, my primary DM injured and got at least 2 months off. Cesar Bustamante came to provide more cover in the CM position, because we had only 3 players after the opening of the transfer window. Imanol Barbero came to fight for the starting spot in the LD position. Pedro Vahos came to bring depth to the wingers position

    Copa Postobon

We almost snatched a miraculous draw against Millionarios in the the first leg of Copa Postobon 2nd round, but, we conceded after scoring at the 90th minute. It was disappointing, because I was almost going crazy with the possibility of being alive in the 2nd leg, and that goals robbed us from that. At home, they played cautiously and the difference between one of the greatest Colombian clubs to us was the edge they needed to not be bothered.

Second Division Phase Two League Stage and semi-final

The Second Phase went up pretty much like the First, but this time, we lost more games. In the Second Phase Semi Finals, I didn't want to be second place, but it happened, and knowing how packed the schedule of a team who plays both finals is, I was glad to have a few days to rest the players and have them in top shape for the title match.

    Champions Playoff

With a week to prepare, we got Barranquilla on the promotion playoff, after they won the Second Phase. It was a surprise, because they were 6th in the table and Envigado, the runner-up of the First Phase was in the same group as them in the semi-final. The first game was a bit tedious, with us controlling the possession, but not biting too much. They also didn't bother to press us, but, they had the opportunity to score first. Eight minutes later, they provided us with a penalty and we scored. The game went pretty much the same. The second match was a more crazy affair, namely because they parked the bus, scored first and had plenty of opportunity to steal the title and the promotion. But we kept going until we drew, and in the last moment of the game, Andres Angulo, with a little help from their keeper, fired a shot from the entrance of the area and got us the goal that sent us to the Liga Postobon.

2042 | One year in Colombia

I'm a little pressed for time now, and I really liked how I was able to swiftly update with my neck hurt in the last post, so, I'll repeat that.

    Transfers

My greatest concern was to rid the squad of the unambitious types and bring players with better personalities, or ones that I could fix via mentoring. Also, I switched the tactics from the 4-2-4 Wing Play for 4-1-2-3 Control Possession, and I needed to bring at least a DM. I had a lot of problems with the registration of foreigners players (only 4 could be registered, but only 3 can be in the starting 11) because the Colombian players weren't too good. So, in some positions, I would have good foreigners players that I could sign, but, couldn't because of the rules. So, I had to decide what were the most important positions to bring players. This situation led to a reduced squad of only 19 players.

    Corporacion-Deportiva-Alianza-Petrolera_Corporacion-Deportiva-Alianza-Petrolera_Corporacion-Deportiva-Alianza-Petrolera_

Johan Ruiz originally was brought to be a backup for my defenders, but without being able to find a proper right-back, and Guerra being quite good in that position, Johan Ruiz became a very important part of our starting 11. Marcos González was brought to be our first keeper. I liked Cruz, but needed a backup, while searching I deemed González a very good player, and it would be best to move Cruz to a backup. Richard Sierra was brought to fight for position with Forero, being a little better than the former, but, I still was in the market for a better left-back. Jhon Aponzá came to be our backup striker, but being quite a versatile player, he had a lot of playing time and was very important in the season. Luiz Martínez was the better left back I was looking for, but, sometimes, I wonder, if it wasn't best to bring another right-back instead of having two young left-backs. At last, Santiago Luna was the player I needed for my tactic to work as I envisioned it. When I'm playing any possession tactic, I like to have a playmaker in the DM position, and Luna fitted like a glove in that plan.

    Copa Postobon

The Colombian has a group phase with 7 groups with 4 clubs in each. Our group had two clubs from our division and América de Cali, from the top flight. As the Red Devils was in the group, I didn't fancy our chances to much. But we had a good start, winning against them, and, in the end, even with our two losses, we were able to guarantee the top spot in the group and we went ahead to the Second Round, there we will play against Millonarios, one of the greatest clubs of the country. I don't see us winning, but, if our experience against Cali taught us something is that we can dream.

    Torneo Postobon

We maintained the form of the last season, and we managed to improve it, because we went unbeaten, with 10 wins and 5 draws in the first phase league stage. Because of that, we were the best team and achieved the 1st position. After a good 15 team unbeaten run, and being the Second Phase holder, I expected to be in the finals, and the team didn't disappointed. We went through for our second straight final.

    First Phase Final

On the final, we played against Depor, the 4th best team in the league stage. In the semi-finals, they let Envigado, the 2nd best team behind and went to the finals. The first game was going according my plan, holding the ball and denying them chances. We got a goal in the first half and doubled down on this approach. They came looking for a win in the last 25 minutes of the game, got the draw, and we weren't given a chance to look for another goal, as we lost a player for two yellow cards a few minutes later. At home, we did the same, but this time they were sturdier in the defense, but Aponzá came from the bench and brought the title home.
