  1. Football irl does involve a lot of luck.  I always say there’s not much point playing the same match multiple times and expecting to see realistic outcomes. Years ago I used to replay games when I thought I got a really dodgy result but I never replay games anymore. I just take the L and move on and I find it’s a lot less stressful and rewarding.

Also if it was the same result in all 4 games people would say it’s scripted.

The playtime "bug" sucks. Player asks for more playtime, I play him almost EVERY SINGLE GAME and his current playtime is still stuck at Youngster. Then the player complains about me not keeping my promise.

Yes seeing the same, got a squad player playing every week at the moment and he’s showing as surplus to requirements. Not the first time this has happened either.

Transfer IA in this game is everything but good. Offered one of my centre mids out on loan with 100% used and un-used wages. One of the clubs offered 90% and my DoF rejected because it wasn't worth for the club lol. I then offered the same player but asking 90% of wages and the same club now offered 80% hahaha thats BS

Now I offered him wanting 80% of wages... Guess what? Yes, the club really interested on signing him offered 70% lmao

Makes sense doesn’t it? Clubs negotiating the offer to get a better deal? I tend not to let my director of football make any decisions though as they are usually beyond useless.

  4. Played quite a few seasons now so just some observations below. They are obviously all criticisms but as usual I am really enjoying the game and there are so many positives about it.

    • A lot of one on ones missed by high level forwards. However I think there are way too many one on one chances in the game so if more were scored it would often be a goalfest.

    • Not enough scrappy or deflected goals.

    • I don’t remember ever coming up against teams that lump the ball into the box from deep, especially when trailing late on, they all try and play through you or cross from the byline still.

    • Players too often annoyed if you encourage them

    • Match ratings too high for players that have missed chance after chance or defenders that have made big mistakes that have led to conceding goals.

    • Corner takers regularly offside as the ball is passed straight back to them.

    • Throw ins regularly thrown straight to the opposition.

    • Set piece set ups need to be far more customisable than they are.

    • Match review training should not have to be the day after the game, I’m sure irl most teams would do these on a Monday morning when playing on a Saturday.

    • Press conference questions and answers often have nothing to do with the up coming game. Why are you asking me about an 18 year old I have out on loan that no one would know or care about?

    • Fouls just outside the box going to var when it is very clear it’s outside the box and never a penalty.

You just destroyed the world of my theory :D always assumed that EG needed to active WB (s/a)

Thank you for detailed response , I need a time to realize all things you noted

Your switch of SS/AP related of diffrenet players or what a reason? I tried to use AP too, but he walks deeper for me (no traits)

Yes have 2 players in that position, one more of a goal scorer and one more of a creator so just depends what I feel I need for the game. That’s exactly how it plays out too, SS gets more goals, AP gets more assists.

  6. Switched to a 442 diamond and currently having the best season I have had, much more successful than my usual 433.

I have been using a shadow striker/advanced playmaker on attack, deep lying playmaker paired with a cm both on support behind with an anchor man at the base of the 4.

Found it gives me far more control of the midfield and also gives me 3 regular goal scorers.

Fair point. And spurs 6 past Man U at old Trafford.
It’s just that this happens too often when playing defensive football. FM is failing the casual player by either offering v poor preset tactics or the code is not set correctly. Too many times anomalous results happen when playing defensively. Too many times when playing deep the opposition gets in behind. Too many times a world class CB set to cover doesn’t actually cover.

Yes I do get that a lot of people are saying defensive tactics do not work well as you are just inviting pressure. Kind of found that myself and I never go below balanced mentality although as others have mentioned they have managed to get them to work fine. I personally find that attack is the best form of defence and you need to give the opposition something to worry about so they can’t stream forward themselves.

  8. Thanks for the advice, I find I have bigger issues with this when managing a bigger club as typically if you are managing a top 4 premier league team for example your back up players still need to be high quality so won’t want to sign for a lower playing time roll as they are very good players.

It doesn't sound like it's your first season, so last season's matches will be taken into account as well, not just the 2 matches this season.

Thanks you are right yes. I do try to keep an eye on the happiness screen too but I feel like I am picking the best team to keep the players happy rather than the best team to win a game lately.

Far too many approaches for players with non-negotiable lowball offers.  Don't mind that an offer is lowball - that's their prerogative, but opening approaches just shouldn't be non-negotiable.  Apart from the fact that IRL it would be seen as plain rude, it seems to me non-negotiable should only become an option after a couple of rounds of negotiation.

I agree I have the same, I don’t pretend to know how transfer bids are submitted in real life but I assume they aren’t emailed across with a line saying ‘by the way this is non negotiable’ at the end?

  11. The playing time issue is a bit of a joke now. I have specifically put a squad together that should allow me to give them the time they want but I have multiple ‘squad players’ demanding more playing time after the first 2 games of the season because they are not getting games.

Surely 2 games into a season with no mid week game they shouldn’t be surprised I have opted to play my strongest 11. I wonder if it’s down to their personalities although it’s still way over the top.

  12. Since the winter update my defence has gone from the best defence in the league for 3 straight seasons to regularly conceding 2-3 goals a game now too. I was hoping it was a stretch of bad luck as they are often scoring 2 or 3 times their xg against me. It’s developing into a bit more of a puzzle than tactical planning now. Hoping the luck changes too.
