    God, I hope Messi wins this. He is the GOAT for me and a lot of people, but if he wins this, playing like this. He literally will become the official unarguable undisputed GOAT. Like there will never be a debate about it again. Even the most hardcore Ronaldo fans will doff their cap and say 'yep, fair play. You won it'. And also the 'but Maradona' stuff ends too.

    It's not the most exciting list is it. Christ, Steve Holland would be depressing choice. I still maintain Poch. Not fussed about them being foreign. He's got the best out of Kane in that 4231 he played. And we have the players to fit that well. The England job is much more appealing then it was 5 years ago. I can see a few different names being interested that weren't before, now they thinking '3 & half year contract, 2 tournaments, I could be the guy that finally wins something with them'

    I'm not sure he even wants to manage after this. He only ever managed Boro for a short time and left in 2009. Since then he did punditry for a bit and then a cushy u21 gig. He didn't even want the England job to begin with. If he leaves he will probably just work with the FA or go back to being a pundit

    Also excuse my ignorance but old Yugoslavia were always decent too. Pre 92 were there a lot of Croatians in those sides?

    I thought Henderson did well. I wont knock his performance but I swear at times it feels like he can't kick a ball hard enough Like sometimes his passes feel a tad short or underpowered.

    I have mad respect for Croatia. What they've done past 20 odd years really is amazing. But for pure spectacal I want France/Argentina final. Proper big boy game. Messi vs Mbappe.

    I agree. I'm not wedded to to having to play players where they play for their clubs. We should just build the best side we can. I'd defo like to see Foden play centrally more and see how it goes but I'm just not convinced it will suddenly fix us. The off ball work you have to do in midfield is very important. Like I don't really rate Mount but in games you can see he knows how to press centrally and keep shape. I have question marks over Foden in that regard

    Rob plays up to it massively. I don't know how people still keep falling for it. He's been doing it for years

    I'm not sold on Foden in the middle yet. Can he press like a centre midfielder? Would like to see him there more for Man City first. He's basically a winger/forward now at club level. You are also newting Bellingham by moving him further back.

    I think this WC has cemented Saka and Foden as our first choice wide players for the forseeable.

    It looked to me like Mount wasn't going to reach the ball anyway, looked a fair bit over his head. That's why I thought they wouldn't give it. No idea if that's a rule or not though

    This is like the worst possible result for predicting Southgate's future If we won then he 100% stays and rightly so. If we lost comfortably and looked out classed then time time to go. But this... is kinda dead in the middle

    There wasn't a lot of chances in the game period. Tchouameni scores a great long range shot. Bellingham edge of the box shot saved. Giroud scores a header. Maguire's hits the post. Kane misses that chance in first half from tight angle. Giroud shot from awkward height saved by Pickford. It was a game of few clear cut chances as expected but France showed their quality with the few chances they had.

    Yeah Henderson didn't get booked. Was it catching Hernandez on the touch line? Matterface assumed he was gonna get booked.

    Didn't clock but Spains WC record is really bad since winning it. Well it's bad full stop if you exclude 2010. Last 3 now, group stage, 2nd round pens to Russia and 2nd round pens to Morocco.
