  2. I do like that team. Should win the group really.
  3. 4-2 against Costa Rica wasn't it? Couple of brilliant goals, I missed them all because I was bloody locked out of my house
  4. Messi and Ronaldo, want them to both tear it up so people do consider them amongst the greats if they don't already. Belgium as a whole, some great players, will be interesting to see how far they can get. Some of the smaller teams like Iran, Honduras, who'll hopefully have a couple of unexpectedly brilliant players and can cause a few shocks. Tbh, I'm just excited to see it all.
  5. No Illarramendi either. Insane depth. Is there anyone else particularly noticeable missing? Isco's probably the biggest one but he is only young and he hasn't played that much lately has he?
  6. Spain can **** right off with that squad ffs Dunno if they'll win it but that's insanely strong. No idea who gets dropped from that. Quite like that Switzerland squad as well. Will probably come second to France and end up facing Argentina, but could very well beat or draw with France and end up topping the group, at which point you'd back them to get through to the Quarters.
  7. Milner would have a very good chance of being picked if all those options were available as well to be honest, for the exact reason you say in your last line. It's a shame people don't see the value of the likes of Milner and only judge players on goals/assists. And as the Liverpool game showed, he can come off the bench and make a difference, not just in a defensive way but offensively too. Can't believe people ever thought Milner might not go, especially in a Roy Hodgson team.
  8. Being a winger isn't necessarily all about pace. Is useful as hell, but not having it doesn't mean you can't be useful in that position. Plus he can be useful in the centre if needs be, he was always a dead cert to go, he's a very good squad member. The game against Liverpool sums up what Milner can bring. Again, who would you take instead?
  9. You're an idiot if you don't see the value to Milner. Who would you take instead?
  10. Recently become unemployed, pretty good timing really
  11. Can't wait, hope it's better than 2010 though.
  12. That was Euro 2000, '98 we lost to Argentina on penalties.
  13. Seedorf Was gonna say this. He sounds like a drunk bloke at a pub, absolutely brilliant.
  14. It is rather average, however, there's some good young players in there. Reasonable amount of optimism for the future.
  15. Seeing all the squads coming in is making me more and more excited for the world cup.
  16. A couple of threads in the good player and team guide, can't remember which ones though tbh
  17. Saw this tactic mentioned elsewhere and thought I'd have a look, was immediately drawn to it as I used the formation in a previous game (was either FM10 or 11, can't remember) and it was probably the most successful I've had, ended up winning the premier league few times with Telford. While the player roles I had were different, it had the same basic principle as this tactic. Anyway, started a game as Leeds and the tactic suits the team well seeing as there's no wingers. It's worked brilliantly for me and currently top of the table in late December. Actually might be an issue because there's no way the squad is good enough for the PL yet Cheers for the tactic though
  18. Here he is, a year and a half later http://i.imgur.com/9Ou5exG.jpg Composure the most pleasing increase. I've been training that, plus his heading and strength on a cycle. He plays as an advanced forward so I'll be training his heading and crossing to begin with next season, as well as finishing and composure. Some definite improvements and hopefully he'll get even better.

  20. Great thread this. Inspired me to have more faith in my youth team as well. Been using some of the methods in the thread on other youngsters I'd signed from other clubs for half a season and now starting to give my youth team members a few games. A striker I have called Anthony Hodges scored on his debut and became the youngest scorer in Spurs' history in the process http://i.imgur.com/TXBqhv7.jpg His composure was 9 before I worked on it for 2 months, working on his strength atm and will probably work on his heading next. Will try and provide an update on him and a few other players at the end of this/next season

  22. Lee bloody Hendrie just scored a 30 yard volley against me ffs Luckily it was in the 90th minute when I was already 3-1 up but it made the last minute or two nervier than it should have been (absolutely battered Solihull Moors in the game.) Anyway, table here with 7 games left http://i.imgur.com/1qlvs9n.jpg Have Tamworth coming up some time, plus they've got Stalybridge as well as a couple other potential banana skins. Could be very, very tight for top spot. Highly doubt I'll get it, my squad is insanely thin and not that great. We're punching above our weight as it is.
