Can see Panama causing you a lot of problems if they line up similary as vs Belgium. But if they open up, they'll be punished. 1-0 to England, with Sterling finally scoring.

Panama have to come out and attack at some point, there's no point in them playing for a draw, so I'd expect space to open up. They may try and keep it tight in first half but I think if we get first goal it will be comfortable 3 or 4.

I find the stuff that will happen after this, with everyone playing for second, really embarrassing. Would be great if both get knocked out in the round of 16.

    Or Germany win their group.

Yeah, I think playing for second would come back to bite us in the arse. We should just be looking at winning games, simple as.

  3. I don't think we're going to win it, but there isn't a single team that thinks "I hope we get England, we'll get through them easy" which is something that you could have said in at least a couple of past tournaments.

We've got a chance. Not a big one, and QFs is still an excellent tournament, but we have a genuine chance for the first time in what feels like forever. 2006 was the last time I thought we could do it at any tournament.

Yes you simply remove the results against the 4th team (SK in this instance) and go through the normal sorting order again before hitting the more obscure tie-breakers.

Can you imagine the outrage if a team ever did go out on the drawn lots .

I was hoping the situation would end up with Boateng's red card costing them a top two place but sadly that won't be the case :(

If all these organised and efficient less fancied nations qualify for the knockout stages the entertainment value is only going to go down further as the stakes get higher.

I appreciate they're playing the way they have to but this is the World Cup and personally I'd hate to see too many sides like Sweden go through. I mean, Germany, Argentina etc have been poor but at least we know they've got another gear if things start to click.

I get what you're saying, but at the same time, **** that, mon Sweden

Winning Copa América isn't that big of a deal to Argentina. They already won it 14 times. It's basically a tournament version of their WC qualifiers league. Don't know any player that has a legacy because of Copa America's performances.

More a question aimed at the "lol what has Messi done for Argentina!" types tbf, I personally don't think it changes things one way or the other.

  7. Well done for a) putting words in my mouth and b) missing the main crux of my post. I never said "how can he win with them?" but it's obvious you're going to win more things in one of the greatest teams ever than at a team that's not as good. And also, they've been penalty shoot outs away from winning two Copa Americas. If they'd have won those shootouts, would that mean his legacy remains in tact, whereas now he's a fraud?

But yeah, nice mature response when I'm making perfectly valid arguments against absolute ********

If Germany go out at the Group Stages, it'll be 3 times in a row where the defending World Champion will get knocked out in the Groups, following Spain in 2014 and Italy in 2010. That would be incredible.

Does that mean we're going out in the group stage in 2022? :(

  9. Shock as player playing in a good team wins things then wins less when he plays in an average team.

I'm sorry, but that guy is an absolute ****ing moron.

Portgual in major tournaments since 2006:

    WC2006 Semis

    Euro 2008 Quarters

World Cup 2010 Round of 16

    Euro 2012 Semis

    World Cup 2014 group stage

    Euro 2016 winners.

Argentina have reached 4 finals since 2006.

If you think Ronaldo is better then fine, but arguing Messi is a "fraud" because of his international record is, and always will be, complete and utter ********.
