Judging from back pocket post it looks like it's an issue with the better itself, I have a good range of formations including 433, 4312 and 4132 none of them seem to offer effective ball winning against small teams unless i put on tackle harder and this is with personal instruction set for dealing with oposition . I really only expect to have to put hard tackling on against more technically gifted sides due to their superior ability to hold onto the ball. As back pocket is highlighting tackling/winning the ball back against lower league/low mentality sides is an issue with the beta.

Can I just check is anyone having problems winning back the ball against low level opposition without turning on hard tackling?

Yes the seem incapable of getting anything above a 6.5 for me.

Never. I leave all previous versions on my steam on one laptop for reference(tactics or player stats) and as it the only computer game I play it's no issue in terms of space.

[What position/role should I use this regen in?]

Thats a deeplying forward on attack or a complete forward on attack rather than support (preferably Complete forward on attack for more goals IMO) . Both roles would allow your regen to use both his creative as well as goal scoring ability. 

As an AM a trequartista perhaps with "Hold up ball" as an instruction would be best in a 4-2-3-1. Basically any role you play a player of that ability in should allow for as maveric a setup as possible, you shoud be allowing a player like that to decide as much as possible where to be and what to do.
