  1. For part 10 of this Minnows to Mighty challenge in Football Manager 2020 we have a HUGE game. Potentially our biggest game yet. It's the final game of season 2 and we are still in that relegation fight but survival is possible. We do have to rely on other results if we are going to beat the drop but there are still three possible outcomes. 1. Avoid relegation. 2. Go into a Relegation/Promotion playoff. 3. Relegation.

With all three outcomes still a possibility, it really is crunch time.

    Part 10 - S2 Crunch Time

  2. In part 15 of this Football Manager 2020 challenge that I call home there is a lot to cover. We review our league and European form so far in season 7. Although the league form may leave a little to be desired (is third season syndrome a thing?) we are having a European adventure that we can never forget. We look back on what surely goes down as the biggest result in FC Balzers history... maybe even the biggest result in the history of ANY Liechtenstein club.

We also play a tough league game away at title chasing Young Boys and review a couple of very interesting new signings. First up, a former Premier League winner and ex-Man City player, then a former Serie A goalkeeper with more experience than I can shake a stick at!

    Part 15 - S7 A European Adventure

  3. Season 6 has finished and in part 14 we find out just how we got on in our second ever season in the Swiss Super League and how we fared in the Liechtenstein Cup that we attempt to win for the third year in a row. We also look at a new signing, the son of a former Barcelona player, ponder our plans for next season and look at a couple of players set to leave the club.

This is followed by an international game against Georgia at home. Surely a winnable match and one that we need to target if we want to move the National Team forward in the same way that the club side have been.

Part 14 - S6 The Best of the Rest

  4. In Part 7 we kick off season 2 where we will compete in the Norwegian First Division. As a newly turned Semi-Professional club we have spent the summer recruiting new players for the challenge and also getting our best assets onto contracts. We take a look at some of those new players including one who has over 50 international caps and played for clubs such as Napoli during his career so far.

The budget and expectations are small but join us as we play our first ever competitive match as a semi-pro club against KFUM Oslo. We will need to raise our game if we are going to be competitive this season!

    Part 7 - S2 Raising Our Game

  5. After avoiding relegation in season 5, we check in to see our early progress in season 6. After a significant budget increase we take a look at some of our key summer recruits, check out our progress in the Europa Conference League (or whatever it is called) and we have a home game against Servette in the Swiss Super League.

It's all change at FC Balzers with a number of new signings including a former England international, a regen who looks to be a star of the North Macedonia NT and a couple of signings from arch-rivals, Vaduz.

    Part 13 - S6 Dizzy Heights

  6. Following the disappointment in part 5 realising that we in fact weren't promoted yet, we have a 2 legged tie against Tromsdalen of the 2nd tier for promotion. In this episode we play both legs and find out whether we have defied the odds and won promotion as an amateur team or whether it is another season in the 3rd tier.

We are put on the back foot right from the start of this video with some squad registration issues and wonder whether it is a glitch with the database or just some weird squad registration rule.

Just to keep people aware, it is NOT an issue with the database. I found out following this tie that is IS actually a squad registration/league rule that caused the selection problems. So win or lose, the show will go on!

Part 6 - S1 The Actual Promotion Playoff

  7. In part 12 we play the final game of our first ever season in the Swiss Super League against Lugano. Have we been relegated? Have we avoided the drop? Or do we have a relegation/promotion playoff around the corner? We also find out how the Liechtenstein Cup went and whether we will have European Football in season 6.

One thing is certain, season 5, whatever the outcome, has been an emotional rollercoaster with some amazing highs (beating Basel 3-0 at home as we saw in part 11) and some terrible lows (injuries, suspensions, relegation scrap). I guess that is what makes Football Manager 2020 so addictive right?

    Part 12 - S5 An Emotional Rollercoaster

  8. We have reached the halfway point of season 5 and as it's winter break time, we take a look back at the season so far, our first ever season in the Swiss Super League. From disastrous starts, conceding late and struggling to navigate life with the smallest wage budget in the league to historic results and an amazing coaching team. We have it all covered in this episode in what has been a rollercoaster of a season so far.

We watch the highlights from what is the best result of the save so far, swing by the National Side, Vaduz and Eschen/Mauren to view their progress and contemplate what the rest of the season may hold for my FC Balzers side.

    Part 11 - S5 Finding Our Feet

You're doing well man, Super League already, had a couple of your videos on in the background while playing my own game

(just started my third season with Eschen/Mauren, in the Challenge League after successive promotions but just gone out at the first hurdle in my first European game to Glenavon, which was disappointing)

Thanks, appreciate you watching! It is going well so far, I was hoping to reach the Super League by Season 7, so I am ahead of schedule. Youth intakes have been disappointing and our showing in Europe hasn't been great either so we havent had it all our own way.

Yeah defeat to Glenavon must have hurt, that will feel like an opportunity missed. Challenge League will be a tougher test but with that league I feel like everyone can beat everyone, its a very open league from my experience.

  10. Here we are at part 10 already and we mark this episode with some huge news for the club and the long term prospects of this career. We managed to win the Challenge League in season 4 and so we take a peak back at that and all the things that have happened at the club since then. We look forward to our first season in the Swiss Super League, look at some great new signings and some very recognisable faces that have joined the coaching department.

We also play a big game against an overseas team, what could that possibly mean?!

The developments have been plentiful and so there is information a plenty in this milestone episode so it is one that you definitely don't want to miss!

    Part 10 - S5 A New Chapter

  11. In part 4 we play the biggest game of our season yet in this Football Manager 2020 career! It is the final game of the season and our destiny is in our own hands... just! Can we hold our nerve? Will the amateurs crumble under the pressure? All the hard work of season one comes down to this!

We also take a look at yet more players who have left the club since part 3, the curse of being an amateur team!

    Part 4 - S1 Squeaky Bum Time

  12. With the hours that I have put in to Football Manager 2020 with various sized clubs, I wanted to put together a list of 20 players that I believe to be hidden gems within the game.

These aren't your obvious wonderkids like Thiago Almada or Rayan Cherki that everybody knows about, these are 20 players who hopefully the majority of them are new to you and can help out on your career and they will all cost VERY LITTLE.

If you are managing Real Madrid or Barcelona and looking for the next Lionel Messi, then this video probably isn't for you.

These are youngsters that you are able to bring into clubs all over the world in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier football and some of them even lower than that! This is why they are "hidden gems". Ideal for lower league managers or those on a strict budget, I guarantee there will be a new name in this video for you to check out! All of these players I have either managed in the game or missed out on them and seen them go on to bigger clubs for bigger fees!

20 CHEAP HIDDEN GEMS FOR FM20

  13. In Part 9 we take a look at how the early part of season 4 has gone in what is looking like a very close league table. We delve into the summer signings that were made to strengthen the side and look at our attacking players and their recent form with absolute delight.

We then play against promotion chasing Aarau who traditionally we have struggled against having only beaten them once in five meetings so far.

With a third of the season complete is this Balzers team the best it has ever been?

    Part 9 - S4 A Flying Start

  14. Well season 3 is over and I don't think it will come as a spoiler to you all to learn that it is the first season of this career that we haven't won a promotion. In part 8 we wrap up the season, review the ups and downs and get a little bit angry at the chairman meddling in our affairs. We also give the National Team some air time as we play our second game of the UEFA Nations League away at Hungary with a young 16 year old making his international debut.

We also briefly look ahead to next season and take a look at the progress of Vaduz and Eschen/Mauren.

Minnows to Mighty is my brand new FM20 career where I aim to take Sola FK of the Norwegian third tier all the way from amateur status to UEFA Champions League winners!

    Why Sola FK? 2 reasons...

    1. I wanted to attempt the challenge with a club from a country that had never had a team win the Champions League. Norway fits that bill.

    2. I wanted an amateur club and what intrigued me about Sola FK is that they are the ONLY amateur club in the top 3 tiers of Norwegian football. An added difficulty element to the challenge as initially I will be an amateur team competing with semi-pro and pro clubs in my league.

Never managed in Norway before so this will be completely new for me!

    Part 1 - S1 A Tough Ask

  16. Nice dude! Similar style challenge to mine.

I noticed in post 1 you have Aimery Pinga on loan, how did he do? I had him with Balzers in my Liechtenstein save and he scored the goals that won me the cup and promotion in season 2. Looks a decent prospect.

Will keep an eye on this one, always fancied trying the Andorra challenge! Good luck!
