  1. Thanks for all your tips. My team's definitely defending better off corners. And leaving 2 men upfront, while it hasn't resulted in any goals just yet, I'm certain it will do soon. I've had a lot of fast breaks in my first few friendlies but the end products been messing. I reckon that should get better once my team gets more familiar with my tactics. Thanks so much again!
  2. Thank you so much once again! That really helps! The zonal marking has definitely helped tremendously. Not conceding a lot from there now. The long-rangers are killing me though! Quick question - you've got your full backs marking the posts. Now, I don't have a very tall side unfortunately. I've got a flat back 4 with by full-backs going traditional. No attack, all defence. That means, I've got Balanta as my starting left back. He's got great man-marking & decent concentration. And on the other side, its Debuchy & Chambers who are also decent in air. My question here is - is it necessary to have defenders on your posts? Or can I leave the shorter guys like Cazorla & Ozil there and leave my full backs to man-mark/zonally mark instead? Regards.
  3. Thank you so much! I'll give this a shot and report back with the difference. Can you please help with the entire defensive setup for corners and free kicks if possible? I've started a new save now. The old one got annoying because of this issue. Mostly down to me though because I made the same mistake as Wenger irl. Signed too many technical players but not enough defensive cover. Thank you once again!
  4. I don't know if it's my tactics or the match engine. But it's really getting cheesed off with the goals I'm conceding. Every single one of the goals scored against me either comes from a corner to the near post or from a brilliant long range hit. And I have no clue how to stop either. The long range ones, I can deal with. But the goals I'm conceding because of balls hit into the near post from corners is ridiculous. I've got someone marking both the near and far posts. Yet, it doesn't work at all. Can someone help me please? Thank you!
  5. Hi, Posted this in the Arsenal thread and was kindly redirected here. In my Arsenal save, I find that my entire team is very, very slow in getting to the ball first. If the opposition striker takes a shot and my keeper saves, more often that not, the opposition are quicker to the rebound and tend to score. This isn't a coincidence as I've conceded atleast 8-9 goals by January in that manner. Any suggestions? Also, having a lot of trouble with conceding goals at the near post. My defenders always seem to lose their man at the near post. Its ridiculous. Infact, most of the goals I've had against me have been a combination of the above two factors. Is this a glitch or am I just doing something wrong with my tactics? Thanks!
  6. Hi, I don't go onto the other forums much. Hence, asking here. Any tips to stop this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Name: Salvatore Sirigu Age: 27 Nationality: Italian Club: PSG Value: 4.4M Sale Value: 4.2M Work Permit Needed: No You can maybe get him slightly lesser than that price too. Quality GK at a very, very cheap price. He's got a year left on his contract at PSG hence the pittance you need to pay. Easily a starter for any top club as well.
  8. Why is nobody signing Munir at the start of the season? While I realise that it's not a position we need to fill desperately, surely 10 mil is a steal for him and too big a risk incase he get's offered a new contract? I've just started my save but that's the first signing I made.
  9. I've been playing Wilshere at CM all year. Been fantastic for me. For DM, both Sven and Lars are fantastic but expensive. If you want a cheaper option, get Nigel De Jong. You can get him for 9-10 mil. Fantastic at protecting the back 4. Balanta, definitely. Alaba is poor defensively. Very poor. Coentrao is no beast, but he's alright. I'd rather get Baines tbh. Between the 3 of them, he's better. Santon is another option. First season, a LB shouldn't be priority I reckon. Monreal is pretty good. You might want to stick with him. Gibbs is ok. Between them two, Vermaelen and Balanta (assuming you buy him), you've got a lot of options. Sagna and Jenkinson can also play there is really required. Buy a backup striker. More important...
  10. Started a new save recently. Just entered December and sitting top of the league so far. 1 loss and 2 draws from 14 games in the Premier League. Also won 5 out of 5 in the Champions League. Atletico Madrid is the other tough team in my group. Here are my signings so far: Eder Alvarez Balanta - 9.5m Nigel De Jong - 9m Alvaro Morata - 9m Gabriel Barbosa - 2m Sent out a bunch of kids on loan. Couldn't sell anyone as I wasn't getting any decent bids. Fabianski, Bendtner and Park were all on the transfer list to start with but didn't move on. The game's going well but the number of missed one-on-one's is infuriating. For every 10 shots of mine, the opposition take 1 and seem to score. Not to mention, some of the shooting is absolutely atrocious! Having said that, my strikers have been very good. Giroud has 15 in 15 games, Morata has 5 in 8 games and Bendtner has 6 in 7 games (!!!). The goal-scoring run has seen Bendtner get a new contract but that's mostly to sell him at a decent price soon. Giroud has been sensational with 8 assists to go with the goals. Anybody looking for a solid DM, I strongly recommend De Jong. He's an absolute monster and is very reasonably priced. He's on an average rating on 8.18 from 14 games. And that's without scoring any goals and only getting 2 assists. Very good, old-school DM who's only there to protect the defenders. In Jan or next season, I want to bring in another, more reliable Goalie. Victor Valdes is high on the list ofcourse seeing as he's free at the end of the season. Need a good left back and right back both by the end of the season. The rest of the team looks in good shape for now. I will probably move on the older players like Rosicky, Arteta and maybe Flamini at the end of the season if there's any interest in them..
  11. Just offer out the players for cash over 6 months and you're likely to get a good offer: Djourou - Anything between 7-8 mil + 50% sell on fee Arshavin - 6 mil Santos - Anything between 4.4-5 mil Gervinho - If Man City get interested, then 20-22.5 mil + 50% sell on. If they don't get interested, 15 mil + 50% sell on Chamakh - Anything between 7-9 mil I do a lot of player exchanges though. It's a good way to get some good players in a straight swap. I've done Gervinho for Lamela, Cabaye for Mertesacker, Jovetic for 8 mil + Chamakh, Vidal for 15 mil + Gervinho a few times before. This is all in the first transfer window. I usually start by game in Russia or Germany so I get a little more time to set up my team. You can sell on Arteta for 17 mil over 6 months as well most of the times. I usually do this deal considering his age and the fact that there are just as good, if not better, players around who can be got for the same or lesser value. Cabaye is a prime example.
  12. Hi all, So I decided to start a new save with my beloved Gunners. Before I begin, I'm one of those supporters who don't agree with the direction the management is taking the club and feel that many of the players in the current squad are not good enough to be representing our team. However, that's not a discussion for this forum. The point I'm trying to make is that I'm going to have a lot of in's and out's in my team. The first two seasons are probably going to be all about restructuring the core of the team. With Wenger leaving, I feel it's time for the start of the new era. That said, not all my sales are because I don't feel they're good enough for my team. Many times, its just good business. Also, I have a certain expectation from all my players as far as stats such as determination, work rate/team work etc go. Will try to adhere to it as much as possible. Well, here goes: TRANSFERS IN Yohan Cabaye - 18M Isco - 17.5M Steven Taylor - Swap for Mertesacker + 4M (the 4M is money Newcastle gave me) Erik Lamela - Straight swap for Gervinho Wilfried Zaha - 4.3M Mason Bennett - 2.6M Cristian Molinaro - 2M Adryan - 875K Doria - 525K George Green - 500K TRANSFERS OUT Mikel Arteta - 17M (Athletic) Per Mertesacker - 4M + Steven Taylor Gervinho - Straight swap for Erik Lamela Johan Djourou - 7.5M + 50% next sale fee (Anji) Marouane Chamakh - 7.5M (LOSC) Andrey Arshavin - 6M (Juventus) Andre Santos - 4.3M (Benfica) Sebastien Squillaci - 1.3M (Newcastle) The future will see players like Koscielny, Rosicky, Fabianski, Mannone also leave. Will probably also sell Sagna at the end of the season as well (don't like over 30 players). All others like Ramsey, Diaby, Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla etc will get their chance this season to prove their worth. Will evaluate at the end of the season who all I want to hold on to. I want to bring in a good CB to replace Koscielny. Hummels seems to be the only one who's realistic and better than Koscielny. A striker may be on the list of priorities come Jan or end of summer. Giroud's performances will define who that will be (first choice striker or a backup). For now, I've got Podolski and Walcott to provide cover. Not to mention Zaha. A good young GK is also on the list of priorities. Butland isn't drawing good reviews from my scouts so I reckon he's stuck with a lowish PA on this save. I'm playing a 4-2-3-1 with 2 CM's like Arsenal is doing currently. Anyway, that's all from me for now. Will update again later in the season. theincrediblehulk
  13. Did you buy Song back or are you playing FM12?? And is that Javi Martinez?
  14. Try Inigo Martinez, Ezequiel Munoz and Nicolas Nkoulou as well. Although if I'm honest, I haven't tried any of them on this year's game myself.
  15. Kurt Zouma is probably one of your best options. Won't come cheap though. You can give the two Barca boys a shot too - Muniesa and Bartra. Bartra particularly.
