  1. A 2 season update here from list member #1 My 3rd season in the Blue Square South was a rip-roaring success, winning the league rather than failing in the play-offs. A 2nd round FA Cup jaunt meant my coffers remained slightly less empty than they could have been, but still around 200k in the red. My squad did OK, without anyone really standing out. My 4th season, and first in the Blue Square Premier, ended with another top spot, however it all came down to the last game of the season. Darlington needed a win to take automatic promotion, having beaten me two weeks before. Luckily for me they had a man sent off after 23 minutes and could only manage a 0-0 draw, meaning that I fluked promotion. A win against even-more-non-league-than-Hastings Colwyn Bay also gave me another trophy in the cabinet. The most intriguing moment of the season came my my assman suggested this guy as a coach. If only I had the £. Squad-wise, again no-one stood out although an honourable mention goes to my Columbian Christian Montana who scored a goal every other game, despite managing to have awful performances in-between the goals. Next season sees me take on League 2, having persuaded the chairman to buy the ground for the princely cost of 6.5k per month for the next millennium, and him returning the favour by giving me less budget for wages than last season, and £0 transfer funds. My aim is simply to survive.
  2. End of season 2 (2013/14) update - columbouk #1 Not posting pics as I haven't go the time at the moment, suffice to say it was a season of frustration. Losing only 4 games all season, I managed to finish 4th due to two almost identically bad runs, culminating in a combined total of 2 wins and 12 draws in 14 games. My defence was the meanest in the division by a country mile, however my strikers couln't hit the proverbial barn door. The play-off semi was a close affair, with a 2-1 aggregate, but I lost 1-0 AET in the final, with a 119th minute goal sealing my fate. I've already been culling the squad for a real push to win automatic promotion next season, and have brought in Tina Turner (alias Tamer Tuna) who seems like he has a history of scoring 20ish goals a season, so fingers crossed this is my year.
  3. Hastings Utd - Season 12/13 A mixed season, where the bulk of my money was spent releasing overpaid, yet useless, players from the existing squad. One of my first signings was this guy who in theory should have been decent (especially as I spent 25% of my wage budget on him), but proved to be merely adequate and was subsequently released once safety had been achieved. A handful of losses early on left me worried, but a strong mid-season period left me safe with a number of games to go, and the tail-off at the season end could be attributed to releasing a number of expensive flops. A reasonable finish of 11th / graph should be bettered next season after my scouts found a number of Irish youngsters who have 'leading star' status (hence releasing older players towards the end of this season), but sadly they were found too late to sign for this season. My transfers were a bit frantic and wild early on, trying to bolster the squad, but next season I'll be looking to keep a tight-knit group of around 20 players. My player of the season was this fella, but I can't help but feel I offered too much in wages to re-sign him for next year. Here was my pre-season profile by the way. So all in all, a bitty season with some highs and a lot of lows. Summary: BSS, league pos 11th (columbouk pos#1 on leaderboard)
  4. After a brilliant crash dump error that corrupted my save game and meant that I lost progress from 7 games I've had to restart (again) with my Hastings save. Ten games in, stuck at the bottom of the table but I've just gone for 3 up front against the 2nd from bottom team and doubled my goal tally for the season by scoring 4 :-)
  5. A meagre 1 point from the last 9 games leaves me 6 points from safety with the half-way mark approaching. I'm lucky to have 3 shots per game and it's starting to demoralise me. Loanee's aren't interested, my strikers have 2 left feet and my midfield is old and slow. Resigning is an option at this point.
  6. 14 games gone, rock bottom, 3 points from safety. Rather worryingly I have 5 players out for 2 months+ and 3 others for several weeks.
  7. Ouch. Not good. My squad is decimated by injuries, and overall lack of fitness.
  8. 10 games in, 10 points on the board and struggling to score. A mass clear out of 7 players (with around 40k termination fees) and 3 classier players brought in is a financial gamble I have to take - even at this early stage - if Hastings are to stand a chance. My big name signing of Willie Boland for £110 per week is where I'm pinning my hopes.
  9. Started with Hastings Utd now, despite the fact that I despise the kit. Their 1000 rep is the lowest I got after 2 hours of reloading.
  10. Feel too cheap with such a high rep. Re-loading now.
  11. Started this last night. Chose Billericay, not knowing their rep was >1k :-( Played 8, won 5 drawn 3 lost 0 so far. Media predicted 23rd and I'm joint top so not too shabby.
