  1. We're back at the Khalifa International Stadium, where we enjoyed England destroying Iran on Monday. And please god, this can't be as bad as Morocco vs Croatia can it? Germany Nobody is calling them the favourites, France and Brazil seem more favoured, but Germany still have lots of very good players, don't write them off! Japan These lads are steadily getting better at the World Cup, three last 16 appearances since 2002, they almost reached the last 8 last time out in that crazy game against Belgium. They have never beaten Germany, and its 16 years since they last played them, a friendly which ended 2-2. TV Coverage Mark Pougatch presenting with Wrighty, Keano and Carney. Matterface and McCoist commentating.
  2. Wilson pretty injury prone, really surprising we didn't take 3 frontline strikers!
  3. I am loving the World Cup but I'm not waking up at 9am to watch an hour build up for this
  4. We're back at the Al Bayt Stadium, scene of Qatar vs Ecuador on Sunday. Morocco Have only once reached the knockouts, in 1986. Big name player is Hakim Ziyech. Croatia Runners up last time around, their best ever World Cup performance, can they challenge again or are they a bit of an aging squad now? Modric is still different class tbf. TV Coverage It's Seema Jaswal with the two Jo(h)n's commentating, Champion and Hartson. Lets hope Hartson doesn't forget who is playing this time. Teams
  5. France What France are we going to get? The super power of 98,06 and 18? Or will they press the self destruct button like they did in 2002 and 2010? On paper they have incredible depth (even with a few high profile injuries), they are one of the big dogs. Australia Not going to lie, this is a very unimpressive looking Australia squad. Not many big names in there at all. Best player probably Ajdin Hrustic. TV Coverage Gary Lineker is presenting, and I'm afraid the commentary is the scream team: Jonathan Pearce and Danny Murphy. Bad Commentators Who knows, maybe Pearce will be so bad tonight we'll get something like again Teams
  6. The UHD stream on the iplayer keeps going down so they are having issues with that side of things.
  7. The Stadium The seventh game of this World Cup is taking place at Stadium 974 which is constructed from shipping containers and modular steel. 974 is the international dialling code for Qatar, as well as the exact number of shipping containers used in its construction. Mexico Mexico are v good at reaching the last 16 but then simply are unable to reach that mythical "5th game" people tell them about. Poland Lewandowski, one of the great strikers of our generation, has never scored a World Cup goal. Can he do something about that today? TV Coverage It's Gabby Logan presenting with Pien Meulensteen (???) and Martin Keown (sigh) commentating. Teams
  8. Denmark 16 months ago we all thought we'd seen Christian Eriksen die on the pitch. Incredibly, he didn't die, Denmark went on to be one of the best teams at Euro 21, they beat France in the Nations League, and now they go into the World Cup with Eriksen back in the team and as one of the leading contenders. Amazing. Tunisia Tunisia were the first African team to win a World Cup match, but they have never reached the knock out stages. Keep an eye out for Youssef Msakni, their best player. TV Coverage Commentary comes from Seb Hutchinson and big John Hartson. Flashback Can Denmark recreate the magic of 1992? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDe2N9ykR6A
