Summer 2027/28
Defenders
Jermain kicked off the summer businesses with a new addition in central defence, and Andrew Omobamidele comes in to replace 29-year-old Ben Godfrey, who left for Monaco in a 23-million pounds deal after bagging two premier league titles in his two years at the Riverside Stadium. That's not bad for a 4.2 million signing from Everton. Omobamidele is younger, better in the air, and is almost as quick as his predecessor and he will get lots of game time in the upcoming campaign.
Right-back continues to be our weakest-performing position on the pitch but I think we've found the long-term solution in Tino Livramento. There is no real weaknesses in the Englishman's game and he will go straight into our starting 11 to hopefully solve our problem in his position.
On the opposite flank, Sergio Reguilón has entered the wrong end of his thirties and Defoe felt it was the right time to let him go. We wanted to bring in a younger replacement but there were no capable, home-grown ones whom we can pick up on the market. The manager eventually settled for Antonee Robinson, who will provide more than capable cover for Micky van de Ven and Rayan Aït-Nouri at left-wing back.
The loan signing of Nathan Collins from Barcelona completes the quartet of defensive reinforcements and it was a forced decision after António Silva suffered a long-term injury in pre-season. The Irishman is a very smart and all-rounded defender, and it will be tough to terminate his loan deal when Silva eventually returns from injury.
Attackers
The biggest surprise of the summer was Talles Magno's arrival from Man United, who replaces Andreas Schjelderup in the squad after he left for 60 million pounds to Real San Sebastián. And no, he didn't ask for the move. Jermain decided to offload the Norwegian as he made most of his goal contributions against the lesser teams and often went missing in big games. We've done our research and are pretty sure that the Brazilian will make his presence felt in the important games.
The signing of Curtis Jones completes the summer transfer businesses but it was very much an unplanned one. He replaces Pablo Torre in the squad, whose loan deal was terminated after he broke his leg right before the season began. The Englishman progresses the ball really well in midfield and the fact that he is home-grown made Jermain's decision to open the chequebook easier. He will compete with Jonathan Asp-Jensen for game time in the right-sided no. 8 Mezzala role.
And with that, we are all set and ready to go! Bring on the new season! \o/
