  1. Just to add to the “tall player” discussion. Moukouko and Endrick as AF’s are on fire at the moment in my network save. Both leading the line in 433’s. 4 seasons in and they’re flying. Both under 6ft. Endrick by quite a bit 😁 Of course, these are elite players, but playing to their strengths (pace), we’re not noticing any output drop off due to ME deficiencies. Having said that, Nunez (and obviously Haaland) are also kicking butt. But all are comparably similar output wise. Apart from Haaland. He’s a bloody alien.
  2. Personally I think it’s superb that we can finally play with real players for longer. In versions past, players over the age of 30 started to decline so heavily that they were a burden. It was unrealistic. Sure it’s fun to play with a team of wonderkids (albeit boring after a while that all user squads looked the same) but equally it was frustrating that top real players couldn’t compete, as they do in reality, after a certain age. I do think a tweak is needed for the AI to use more kids in general, too many great prospects get “ruined” by the AI, but please, do not make an older players decline more rapid.
  3. Don’t know if it’s linked to certain clubs/leagues or what the criteria is but I’ve found choosing pitch size pre season to be hit and miss. In a journeyman save some clubs offer it, others don’t. I’m not paying a huge amount of attention but maybe even one season at a club I get asked, then next season I don’t. Would be interested to know the criteria.
  4. I agree also. Great achievement to split the tactics screen into tabbed containers. The code for tactics is overly/needlessly complex in my opinion. So to sift through it all to split it up is very good work. But I much prefer all the information on one screen. Personally that goes for all panels and screens. There are enough “clicks” in the game as it is. If info can be put in one panel/screen that is ideal for me. Tabs are obviously great if real estate is in short supply. But splitting info, for what seems like the sake of it, I’d personally prefer to avoid.
  5. Thanks for responding and looking at it. Unfortunately I do not have a save game before this took place. The issue seemed to be, in my instance, that the promise deadline, although after the final of the competition, was before the game had a chance to update itself that my team had qualified for the Euro League. From memory it was like a day out. Based on string. It has happened in previous versions. Perhaps the promise deadline could be extended?
  6. I know this is “company line”, and I have no wish to antagonise, but this issue isn’t new mate. It’s been here since the dawn of time. There is literally no way SI do not know it exists. I will put it in the bug tracker. SI can tell me they are aware of it (as they would have done 20 years ago) and it can safely be ignored. Because. More important things to worry about. Like earrings on our avatars 😉
  7. Can the code please be tweaked to recognise “qualify for continental football” (or ANY promise involving a clubs inclusion to a competition) isn’t just about league finish? I finished 10th in premier league but won the euro conference. I qualified for the euro league, a continental competition. But the code is tied to league finish. Either players should demand a league finish position, or if, as it stands, they demand a competition inclusion, the game should recognise there is more than a league finish position to achieve it. Now dealing with unhappy players, again, when the information presented should suggest that not to be the case. Irksome.
  8. Out of curiosity I have been playing around with this system this morning and I have to say it is really good. Considering my squad have never seen it before I am very encouraged. What is most surprising is the amount of shots and chances created. I like what I’ve seen so much that I am now training it with my squad on my main network save. I’ve been playing a 433 all save but thankfully have the midfield players to easily adapt to the 4231. I’m all up for simplicity and adaptation. This system ticks all the boxes. Will still use my attacking 433 as primary but to have this in the locker will hopefully give us a few more options. Thanks for posting it.
  9. For the first time ever I have used a preset as a starting point. I normally create custom tactics but most of my ideas so far in FM23 have fallen a bit short. Looking at role combinations from the presets has been very useful in creating new ideas.
  10. While I’m engaged in this, I have a question. Why was customising your avatar with earrings and rings implemented? What was the intention of doing this? Who was this looking to appeal to? For what exact reason? Please. Someone. Tell me precisely WHY. For starters, how many professional managers even WEAR an earring!!? It’s utterly mind boggling when you think about it. Of all the things that could be implemented, the idea that made it through, was earrings!? EARRINGS!? Personally i “feel that my manager has treated me unfairly too many times”. I am now “distant”. I am losing trust. (It’s also quite funny and not that big a deal. But the decision making IS a problem.)
  11. The problem, i feel, is TRUST. If the basics of coding were being demonstrated by SI then I don't think the, dare I say, FEAR, of adding what will be a HUGE section to the game, would be SO diluting to the enthusiasm of something that DOES need to be implemented.
  12. It's the blind "report it in the bug tracker" that is the problem and SI's refusal to fix long standing bugs. Not the bug tracker itself, which, as has been said, is useful for "new" bugs that game updates and user's individual systems throw up. If there are SO many bugs, that have nothing to do with people's systems, or new "features", or new versions or game updates, that have been reported year after year, then SI is not putting enough resources into doing the BASICS. The majority are not even bugs. It is just badly excecuted code. That should have been looked at by now. My advise to SI, for what it is worth, as MANY have suggested, is to take a small step back and polish the game we all love. PRIORITISE fixing the code! Stop adding new features that create more problems to, what is, lets face it, an ancient, creaking program.
  13. I’ve tried to remain restrained for quite a while now, but EVERYONE knows the bugs that have been around for years, because, they’ve been around for YEARS! The bug tracker is literally pointless. I mean it’s SI’s game. They made it. They tested it. They already KNOW the bugs the game has. And if they need us to point them out to them they are doing it wrong. Some of the bugs are bugs that have been in the game for YEARS! Reporting them, again, in the bug tracker does WHAT exactly!? Sure, point out new ones that have been caused by new “features” (even though I fail to see how a studio can not see them for themselves) But ones that have been around forever!?? SI. Use the vast profits you make as a company to STOP the yearly cycle, for at least a year, hire more staff that can fix the most ridiculously SIMPLE bugs that have been in the game for years and then release a POLISHED version of what has been basically the same game for at least the last 4 years now. I don’t need more “features”. I want what you’ve created to WORK without breaking immersion and without making you look like clowns. FIX THE BASICS! (This rant has been inspired by the line “report it in the bug tracker” for literally ANYTHING, even bugs that have been around for years.)
  14. Yes. Section edits tend to need a restart of the game also.
  15. Ignore the shortcut. You want the main archiver folder. Put the archiver folder into the main games folder. I’m not on pc atm. But for me, using steam, it’s the base game files in steamapps/common/fm23(21) etc. You need to run the archiver from its folder that is IN the base games folder.
  16. Make sure the archiver is in the same directory as the data folder for the files you want to extract. I used the FM21 archiver to unpack FM23 files (during beta) and was having this behaviour until I moved the archiver to the same folder as the files I wanted to extract.
  17. Somehow, when renegotiating James Maddison’s contract for a Leicester save, I included his wish to be the club’s penalty taker. Not a problem, as Vardy had just retired and Maddison was my best option. He was number 1 on the list of penalty takers in my tactics. In the first few months (after he signed the contract) we had maybe 4-5 penalties. He took all of them (scored them all too). Then BAM! Out of nowhere, Maddison hates me for breaking the promise of being the clubs main penalty taker. Eh? ONLY Maddison has taken any penalties for me since the contract was signed! Especially if he was on the pitch. There “may” have been a penalty he didn’t take (at home to a Sunday League team in an early round of the ELC) where he wasn’t even on the bench. But really?? That’s enough for him to kick off? It’s frustrating because as we all know happiness and morale (dynamics in general) are very important in the game. And this issue definitely threw a spanner at me. I mean. It’s quite comical. It’s something that can be navigated around. But it’s logic isn’t realistic. I normally avoid promises like the plague. Especially in contracts. This one slipped the net. I HAVE found, this version, promises are almost unavoidable in some cases. Especially when players want to leave for a bigger club. But that’s actually ok to manage. Not being the penalty taker when the player IS the penalty taker (like when a player wants to play a certain role and position - AND DOES) as promises, seems buggy to me. AVOID.
  18. Very actually. Playing a 433 DM wide formation. Is good in most situations but especially away from home against top teams. Press intensity is high and counter is active. Also tackle hard. Roles need some playing around with, and ofc pace is important. Especially from top 3.
