So I started a new save as an unemployed manager with international football as my past experience. Couple of days into the career I was offered the Hereford United job where I became an instant hit with loan signings like ‘Michael Ngoo’ and ‘Tom Barkhuizen’ two very good young strikers. I was 4 months into my Hereford career and was in 2nd place in the Npower League 2 just behind Crawley Town and had some very exciting games with including a win over Brighton on penalties in the Carling Cup, and an exciting 5-4 victory after extra time against West Brom in the Carling Cup 2nd Round. I was soon linked with managerial positions at Reading and Watford but I turned them down. However, in my next few games my teams form started to drop and I fell into 7th place in the league and hadn’t scored a goal in over 5 games. Gus Poyet was then sacked as manager of Brighton so I decided to put myself forward for the job, they were flattered by my interest and I was named Brighton & Hove Albion manager. After being in charge for only 5 games I had only one victory under my belt, a draw and 3 defeats, I then came to the decision that maybe my career did not stand a chance at Brighton, then the Swansea City job was vacant I was then in pole position to be given the spot and I decided to grasp my opportunity and they offered me a contract to be manager until the end of the season, which I accepted.
I joined Swansea City who only had 1 win in 16 games and were in last place in the English Premier League. It was a very tough task to fight in a relegation battle and survive but I was very confident. My first game as manger was against Stoke City at The Liberty Stadium in front of my own fans and I got off to a flying start with a 5-1 victory, then I faced Tottenham again in front of my own fans where we won 3-1. I then had another big test against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and with a 2-0 victory at half time the game changed in the last 10 minutes with goals from Torres and an equaliser from Ramires, I was only able to gain a point. However, I enjoyed a big win against Man City where I won 3-1 and was able to get my revenge over Chelsea and I knocked them out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round after a replay. I also had a massive 6-0 victory against Wigan Athletic and had another victory over Chelsea in the league with a 4-1 thrashing. With the likes of Danny Graham, Scott Sinclair, Angel Rangel and Gylfi Sigurðsson I only suffered 4 defeats and I won the FA Cup with a 3-2 victory over Liverpool with a late penalty by Gylfi Sigurðsson in extra time. So to sum up my season I finished 10th in the League and qualified for the Europa League after beating Liverpool in the FA Cup final.
The season finished and I was offered jobs at teams such as: Stoke City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Athletic Club. But I was also offered a new two year contract extension at Swansea City and I decided to stay on as Swansea manager. Since I have spent over £30million on big name signings including: Rolando, Ben Arfa, Jonjo Shelvey and Adel Taraabt. I won my group in the Europa League and have qualified for the 1st Knockout Round, I am currently lying in 7th place in the
League and I am in the FA Cup 4th round.
